quieter scene right now than it was earlier this morning. certainly overnight. there are still police here in this neighborhood near eagles drive. but again, very quiet out here. we're not lighting up the back be ground because we don't want to given away any tactical information. we can show you what it was like as it happened around 5:30 last night. neighbors say it started with what sounded like two explosions. police quickly evacuated the homes in the area and neighbors say they started calling overr out, quote, for the sake of his family. a woman claiming to besays hhist has gone wrong. and that her husband isn't going to hurt anybody. >> i think this is ridiculous and if they really wanted him to come out, all they have to do is ask me to go get him, but they don't want me to go in there. i could stop all of this in fiv

details are coming to light about the suspect's recent criminal history. >> he never was the type of person to be aggressor. i don't understand how it happened. >> reporter: she says her father was always helping people. tuesday police say that oliver williams stopped germane graham was stealing another b.a.r.t. passenger's you shoes. a move that cost him his life. the men fought and he was stabbed to death. his daughter is heartbroken. williams won't meet his grandson. >> he was excited to hear about his grandson. he will be here in december and now i don't have my dad here with me to see him.

san mateo 61. and north bay highs in the mid to upper 60s. tomorrow i'll be out in livermore for the feed the need food drive. and all of us here at nbc bay area will be at the bay area safeways and helping out for the whole day. so hopefully you'll step out there as well enjoying some warm temperatures. we have mid-60s. but then after this weekend, we'll have some rain chances. they begin on tuesday. and then we could see rainfall totals anywhere from about a tenth of an inch to half of an inch. butls elevation snow to a foot of snow possible. but the main issue right now is the track of that area of low pressure. if it tracks farther inland, we'll see less rain and snow and as it doesn't get as much moisture. and then next week, we may also

have a big impact on how much rain we get. but it does look pretty certain that we will get rain at some point next week. just depends on how much we may see because once again, our models are not agreeing at this point. and this is a look at the euro model showing a pretty good soaking up to 2 1/2 inches of rain for parts of the east bay and the coastal range. and we'll also see from the other model much lesser amounts especially for the north bay. but it is starting to come together now and of course we'll have more updates throughout the next couple days into the weekend. but just enjoy the weekend. take a look at these numbers here. we have upper 60s and low 70s between now and monday. and mike, you found a light show. >> yes, good morning. welcome to the electric light show. not really parade, but sitting on the side of the road and blocking a couple lanes. northbound 880, we do have some slowing. and this is the typical zone

where we've seen overnight. two nights ago southbound was down to one lane until good 4:30. so you will see some slowing. there is a little slowing past whipple, typicals the crews move on that side as well. i moved up to the north bay because being a friday and next week being thanksgiving, vacations for many schools the whole week, we're looking at folks who will begin an early getaway or taking 580 over to i-5 as well. headed to points farther east, maybe towards the sierra. so keep that in mind. early getaway will begin as well. and also folks leaving town after dream force and that will mean a flood towards the airports as well. 101 will get crowded. right now at the bay bridge, pick which side carefully. the right side is fewer cash payers. back to you.

>> happening today, sentencing for a man who pleaded no contest in the shooting of a 14-year-old oakland boy as he walked home from school. according to the mercury news, ronald higgins reached the plea deal in september in the shooting of de-vaughn ellis this is 2015. we interviewed ellis' father about the loss and the violence. >> when you send a loved one out, last thing you tell them is be safe. and that is because you know now. they might not come back. >> higgins could be sentenced to 50 years to life in prison. and police say a recent social media posted tos st. mary's college taken to be a threat was never meant to be a threat at all. at one point yesterday the school posted its concerns on its website. initially some believed that social media post showing a campus building and a gun was an intentional threat. but the police soon termed that the report was false and that
