right now at 3:00, the 49ers are ready. the bay area is ready. and the packers on the field at levi stadium. they think they are ready. we are ready for sunday night football here in the bay area. not often we do a 3:00 p.m. newscast, but it is not often the 49ers are on sunday night football. but we are here at levy stadium. thanks for joining us. >> welcome to nbc bay area news at 3:00. it is a beautiful day here at levi stadium. temperature in the 60s right now. big match-up between these two, green bay and the niners. they have met 60 times. this will be their 60th meeting.

the niners are three-point favorites for tonight. >> we are on the 20 yard line here at levi's on the packers side of the field. on the opposite side of the field is where the 49ers will be. they will be on the field for about an hour from now. let's show you the scene from now. let's take a high above look. 70,000 fans will be here. it is a bit empty right now, but it is going to fill up. probably one of the most talked about. in fact, it is one of the most hyped games for the 49ers in this stadium's history. >> it was an afternoon game at 1:00. the gates will open at 3:20 this afternoon, so about 20 minutes from now. right now fans are outside celebrating, tailgating. now a lot of green bay fans here as well. >> the packers travel well. >> they do. they're here in force. but the niners already done there. i saw a live band, a big bar set up.

they're ready to come into the stadium. >> for the players, that's why we're here and a big story line tonight. the tight end, will he play? how about this for an indication? 30 minutes ago on instagram he posted this, said, coming at you tagging nbc and sunday night football. i bet a buck that george skitle will be back tonight and they're going to need him because the packers are very difficult to face. >> two games already. we are so glad you will hopefully be back tonight. right now let's go outside because that's where the action is. let's go to ian outside the stadium hanging out with fans. what's happening out there, ian? >> reporter: yeah. you know, we had to come over here. fans getting a little rowdy. they have been here since 11:00 this morning. that's one of the good things about these sunday night football games, get to come in early, have some lunch, a drink or two or quite a bit. mostly drinking responsibly out here. that's good to see. right now you're seeing some presume yum seats right now.

general seats going to be going in in 15 minutes and the faithful say they are ready. there are tens of thousands of fans here already. they were here when we were here at 2:00. long lines to get into the stadium. the packers fans travel better than any other fan base, but we'll see how many of them actually make it in. the niner faithful said levi field has the best feel to it. they all know what's on the line against two of these top nfc teams face-off. the winner will have the advantage on the number one seed in the playoffs. >> killing the packers tonight. >> niners will be 10-1, baby. >> home field advantage. you can feel the energy inside the stadium. it hasn't been like this since candle stick. everybody is hyped. >> the excitement level on one to ten is an eleven. i go hard for my team because they go hard for us. >> louis is out here every game.

he is high fiving people. he says it is a good workout for about three hours before kick off. yeah, we're seeing a few packers fans coming in. out numbering them. that's just right now, though. the majority 49er faithful going on. i asked fans what is the level of excitement for this game, one of ten, all of them said eleven. we'll see you back on the field. back to you. all right. the assignment of the afternoon. we talk about, you know, we both grew up here, so we have seen the glory years of the 49ers and the legendary candle stick tailgate fans. it is good to see them celebrating again now. >> i know. great start 9-1. of course the person at the helm, jimmy garoppolo, one of their star players. as some women call him, jim mmy

gorgeous. 28-year-old from illinois. he's thrown 18 touchdowns but 10 interceptions this season. he came from the patriots in 20717 where he was the second round pick in the 2014 draft. he actually went to two super bowls as back-ups to tom brady. when he came over to the niners he won the first five starts for the niners and then he was injured at the start of the last season and sat all last season. now he's coming back with a vengeance leading the niners to the first 8-0 start since 1990. their only loss to seattle seahawks monday night football in overtime. but hopefully we will raise that to 10-1 tonight. >> it's been a fun ride watching jimmy g. we all know about aaron rodgers. we've seen him grow up before our eyes. he turns 36 next week. when he retires, sure bet, first ballot hall of famer. one super bowl title -- excuse me, two time league mvp. but our favorite memory of rogers when he was a broke

college kid at cal talking about maybe playing in the national football league. >> i'll be the first to ask you point blank. you are a junior well. if things go well and the nfl scouts continue to love you, will you jump out early and go to the nfl. >> i'm just going to finish out the season strong and not worry about that. if i have the opportunity to leave, that means i had a good season so i'm hoping i will have the opportunity to have an option. but i'm loving my time at cal and working with coach every day. so i'm in no hurry to leave. but if that's the decision, we'll make that decision in the off season. >> that was in september of 2004. >> i could tell. i could tell. >> are you talking about my hair? >> you guys have aged just a little bit. but that brings us back down memory lane, man. that's so great. >> that was in 2004 when he was at cal. a few months later he declared for the draft and the 49ers passed on him and he was drafted

stadium, this is a homecoming for davante adams. he is from east pal low alto. he led the vikings to a state championship as a senior. in college he went on to a record setting career. now he's aaron rodgers number one target and he's coming home focussed on giving the pack a w. >> it's a huge win. it is a decider in the nfc. obviously it will take everybody doing their job to win the game. >> reporter: now, fans are just starting to get here in levi stadium. i'm looking around. i already see a huge number 17 jersey. that would be davante adams green bay packers jersey. he will have a lot of support from family and friends at tonight's game. back to you. >> anthony, thank you. how cool is that? you come back to your hometown. >> very nostalgic for him. good to be home, huh. this is a family affair.

outside. this is what they receive when they come inside. a san francisco flag, hang it up in your room, in the house. >> in the news room. >> 70,000 fans will be getting this. >> a lot of excitement today, not just for the packers and niners, but really for the 49ers fans. it is excitement. the schedule coming up is pretty brutal. historically speaking, no team has faced this difficult of a schedule this late in the season. all teams 800 or higher winning percentage. the packers tonight 8-2. next week they have to go to baltimore, face the ravens 8-2. and then in new orleans against the saints who beat the panthers today who are 9-2. gear up, 49er fans. it will be a difficult stretch, but that's exactly how we want it. >> we also want to win, but we feel confident. and telling us more about how confident we are is the president of the san francisco 49ers. >> thanks for having me.

>> you guys must be pretty pumped. >> really pumped. we broke our own franchise record in the tickets distributed for tonight's game. it is upwards of 72,000 now. >> honest answers, okay? this is a circle of trust. for the last five or six years, you were smiling but not that much. now you got a big smile. this is a great time for the franchise. >> i'm happy for the faithful, our ownership and the players. the faithful renewed their tickets at 98% the last five years. to get what they are getting on the field, all these prime time games, i'm excited. >> you are going to play the rams on december 21st. >> saturday night. saturday night. football underneath the lights. should be dark around the first quarter. i'm sure the weather people will tell us when the sun goes down here the end of the game, but it should be a great atmosphere. >> what's the biggest challenge you guys have faced? >> you talked about it in the

league-in. one is our schedule. tonight against a great green bay packer team and down the stretch. they got to play us, too. right? i know we got to play them, but they got to play us. for us, it is all about logistics. 72,000, making sure our travel, transportation. thankfully tonight everybody has been off. but those prime time games on weekdays, i was proud of the fan. they all got in here before the game started on monday night. some of the problems we have from a logistics perspective. >> being inside, it must be electric. >> i know it was as loud as it got for seattle. this building can really turn it on. you know, we weren't playing as well as we wanted to on the field. but people saw us in the college national championship game here. there is only 68%. tonight we will break our own

decemb decemb decemberable level. >> if you were four inches taller, you might pass for jimmy g. >> thank you very much. i'll take that any time. thank you. >> president of the 49ers. thanks so much for joining us. >> thank you very much. al brought it up. we're talking about the weather here. right now it is gorgeous. >> beautiful day. >> it couldn't be better. let's bring in our meteorologist from the studio talking about the game night weather and maybe thanksgiving week as well. >> this time of year, you really couldn't ask for better weather around the bay area. right now temperatures in the upper 60s. as you watch the game here on nbc bay area, kick jouf at 3:20. temperatures later tonight drop into the 30s and 40s. so a little bit of a chilly start heading into tomorrow morning. as we head into the afternoon, highs tomorrow for one more day in the mid to upper 60s before some big changes head our way during the day tuesday. right now the tuesday morning commute looks just fine.

but check out these big changes. we haven't seen it really in six months around the bay area. significant rain coming in as we get into tuesday night along with some gusty winds. rain fall totals a third of an inch to an inch of rain coming in through wednesday morning. here you see the numbers, the most rain we have seen here since may 18th. it's also some good news for fire danger around northern california. meanti meantime, if you have travel plans consider doing it tomorrow and tuesday morning because two to three feet of snow will be coming down for that big travel day on wednesday. so the seven-day forecast brings that weather alert in for tuesday night into wednesday. a taste of true november weather. but this is a winter blast that will drop high temperatures into t the upper 40s and low 50s. maybe that's not lambo field, but that's a big change from the 60s and 70s. the good news, we'll save the best weather to start the weekend for sunday night football right here.

this was the 1999 wild card game at candle stick. a lot of people call it the catch part two. >> do you remember that catch? >> yes, i do. i remember catch number one and two. hopefully we'll see a repeat and they will make it to the playoffs again. maybe they're big contenders for the super bowl. >> we are coming to you live on the 20 yard line. a lot of the packers now are on the field as we speak. in fact, one of aaron rodgers favorite targets, the guy with the beard there, undrafted free argument. aaron rodgers will target him tonight. the 49ers defense to shut that guy down. he has a big beard there. >> he does. he's a little big scruffy. he's used to green bay weather. the weather in the 60s right now. we also want to talk about the brotherly love, brotherly connection here. >> the packers head coach, matt lafleur, his first year as packers head coach. his kid brother is on the 49ers coaching staff. so packers, matt lafleur, he and

kyle shanahan are good friends. they coached together. but across the sidelines tonight is his little brother. i shouldn't say little. i'll say younger brother, mike la flur. it is interesting because he wanted to go work for the packers this season. matt, the older brother said come work for me. kyle shanahan blocked the move. and this week, matt lafleur sent his wife and sons out to stay with mike in the bay area and said, kids, if you see the 49ers play book, go ahead and grab it. >> they won't get any insider information from us. mike is the younger brother of the 49ers. matt is the head coach. it is a bunch of them out here. >> very nice. we will see them on the field. right now we have a lot of news going on as well. besides the big game day here, sunday night football, we will

toss it over for the headlines of the day. >> several stories today. >> that's right. right now the investigation continues in union city. police are searching for the person or persons who gunned down two boys in a parking lot. happened early saturday at this elementary school. victims were 11 and 14 years old. neighbors said they never heard yelling or fighting, just gunfire. in about an hour a vigil will be held next to the parking lot where that shooting happen. >> another life taken too soon. there will be a celebration of light concert for ramon sanders. in less than an hour the community will gather to remember the 19-year-old. sanders was a state championship football player and graduate. on friday he lost his battle with cancer after a year-long fight. this started in 2018. he broke his leg and then found out it was the result of bone cancer. >> okay.

this is really cute. take a look at this video. a baby seal is snagging parking spots on the peninsula. he's a northern fur seal pup, found his way into a parking structure this morning. firefighters rescued him. he is now being monitored by the marine mammal center. he will eventually be released into the wild. there is no word on how the seal got into the garage. the garage is located on marshall street. but at this map right here, you can see the parking structure is not far from the creek. >> it's suspicious. >> very suspicious. so it is quite possible that the pup came from the bay via the creek. >> and we're going to stay on that story for you. but right now let's get back to levi's. are you ready for kickoff? >> we are ready. we are about two hours away. we can't wait. >> you can see the packers on the field right now.

come in. you can see the 49ers and the packers and some vips on the field starting to arrive here to watch one of the most hyped games, the most talked about games for the 49ers in levi stadium history. niners versus green bay. richard sherman in a very generous donation. we spoke with him through instagram. but we want to tell you about this story. it is so heart warming. h team qualified for the national championship next month in florida. but they didn't have the money, the family didn't have the money to travel there. so richard sherman donated $5,000 to the team. the team is undefeated on the field. but sherman said i want to give to this team and their commitment to football. everybody has a 3.1 gpa or above. that was generous. >> richard sherman said he doesn't like playing night games and he's really ticked off about stanford losing last night. >> hopefully he'll be happy
