7:00 am
for a truly delicious taste. kerrygold. the taste that takes you there. good sunday morning to you. 7:00 on the dot. a live look outside, you can barely see through our camera lens on the golden gate bridge on your left, and our doppler radar on the right, tracking our microclimate weather alert. thanks so much for joining us. i'm kira klapper. vianey arana has a look at the microclimate weather alert. >> and we've certainly seen the gusty winds, kira, and also seen that rain push through overnight. this is a live look in downtown san jose. you can see the camera shaking a little bit, that's because of the winds and current temperature is at 54 degrees. wind speeds at about 18 miles per hour. let's get right to our own storm ranger, that is scanning the system as it pushes through.
7:01 am
we've got rain moving through santa rosa, petaluma, san rafael. so your trek along 101 or 80 to the north bay is a mess and pushing this in further through the interior, tracy is okay right now. taking a little bit of a break. fremont a little bit of rain passing through. san jose falling in a bit of that rain shadow and if i push this further down south in terms of our storm ranger, we'll be able to see that that storm has been centered now a little bit more to the south, and by that, i mean the santa cruz, monterey area we've got the greenfield area, look at the cells pushing through monterey. santa cruz is expected to get the biggest impact as we head into this evening. a quick check right now at how far we are in terms of 24-hour storm totals. nearly three inches of rain so far in the past 24 hours. this is the latest as of this morning, three peaks near big sur, over two inches. oak ridge over an inch. i'll go over the top wind gusts and timing of how long the rain will last coming up shortly.
7:02 am
>> thanks. a deadly accident this weekend after thanksgiving, two cars filled with people crashed on the highway 101 connector to 280 280. one person was killed, six are in the hospital. "today in the bay's" kristy smith is live in san jose. the slick roads could have been a factor in this. >> reporter: yes, that's right. at this point, we really don't know that answer, but i can tell you just from standing here that the roads are wet, and on our way down to our live location, we did just pass the crash scene, which is about three quarters of aa mile up the road from where we are standing t happened around three hours ago on the northbound highway 101 connector to 280 in san jose, happened just after 4:00 this morning. the chp responded to that crash, finding two cars with seven people injured. san jose fire worked to extricate multiple people from both cars and sadly, one person has died.
7:03 am
six are in serious condition, transported to trauma centers. the northbound connector of 101 to 280 in san jose remains closed. as we were coming down, we did notice they had at least one of those vehicles up on a flatbed truck, and it did look to us like they were making some progress. that's the latest from here, reporting live in san jose, kristy smith, "nbc bay area news." >> kristy, thanks for that report. it is 7:03 right now. it could be a long day for many families trying to get back home after celebrating the thanksgiving holiday. we have a live look at sfo today is considered one of the busiest travel days of the year. the wind and the rain is expected to cause plenty of delays. yesterday the rain and low clouds caused dozens of cancellations, and hundreds of delays at sfo. some travelers cut their long holiday weekend short to try to get ahead of the mad rush. >> we planned this flight tonight to avoid the crowds that
7:04 am
will probably be here tomorrow. >> i realized we started making circles we may not even be able to land. they could forward us somewhere, but at least we landed. >> sfo had delays that averaged about three hours because of the weather. here is another live look for you at sfo. the wet tarmac there nearly 70 flights were canceled yesterday. that number is expected to go up today. and as we warned you yesterday, the weather has forced road closures near a popular tourist destination. around 5:00 yesterday evening, cal trans closed a section of highway 1 near big sur, known as paul's slide. that's because of the threat of landslides. beginning at 9:00 this morning, crews will close mud creek, that's the section of road that was buried by a massive landslide back in 2017. now we take you from the rain to the snow, a difficult drive in the sierra. the chp says drivers should expect to face significant
7:05 am
backups through today until tomorrow morning. ski resorts are preparing for all the snow, and the visitors. >> forecast is calling for another 20 tonight, another 10 tomorrow. that's 65 inches of snow in a week. i mean, only in tahoe. you go from the lake to full-on winter. >> chain controls are in effect this morning, on i-80. some spent the day yesterday preparing for the storm, others rushed to get their christmas trees before the worst of the storm moves in. >> had to beat the weather, so i don't want a soggy tree. >> just recently jumped in the car, had a quick breakfast and got out here. >> the owner of the alhambra christmas tree farm in martinez says friday was her busiest day ever, with many people saying they were trying to beat the rain. and as this weather changes, we will be tracking it all, look at vianey there, our website and mobile app are great resources to stay in the know. right now on your screen is a qr
7:06 am
code in the bottom left. if you have an iphone, open the camera and point it at that code. a pop-up will take you to our weather page and where you can stay up to the minute and get tailored weather radar for your neighborhood. we turn now to breaking news, multiple people shot overnight in new orleans. police say at least 11 people were injured in the shooting on canal street. two of those people are in critical condition. in total, ten victims were rushed to the hospital. police say a man was detained near the scene. right now it's unclear whether he was the shooter. back here locally, a dramatic situation in the east bay, miraculously ended with no injuries. alameda county firefighters say the driver and passenger of this car managed to get out right before an amtrak train slammed into it. this all happened around 6:00 last night in union city. witnesses say the driver of the
7:07 am
car was using a gps mapping system, and mistakenly turned on to the train tracks, and got stuck. witnesses say a neighbor told the two people in the car to get out, and they did. the train slammed into the car, pushing it 800 yards. fortunately, no one was hurt. the car eventually was removed. union pacific crews checked the tracks, and train traffic resumed about three hours later, just before 9:00 last night. flowers and candles now stand in the place where a fremont woman and her dog were killed friday night. police say the 72-year-old woman was the victim of a hit-and-run. last night, the coroner identified that woman as suzanne ogy. police say before 8:30 friday night ogy was walking her dog in the crosswalk at niles boulevard and linda drive, where they were both hit by a car. witnesses say the driver did stop, walked over to the woman, and then got back in the car and
7:08 am
drove away. police are now looking for that driver, who was in a light four-door sedan. officers say the car likely has front end damage. people who live nearby are stunned that the driver took off. >> i don't know would go through a person's mind that quickly not having a human emotion, you just hit somebody. let alone do you know if they died or not. you left them there. >> the driver of the car was last seen headed north on niles boulevard toward union city. the search is on for this man, 26-year-old kristopher newton. police say he has been going in to yoga studios across the bay area and stealing people's things while they're doing yoga. police say in september, newton took someone's wallet and clothing from a studio in downtown berkeley. police belief other thefts have not been reported. we have much more ahead on "today in the bay." coming up, we go live to washington to chuck, with chuck
7:09 am
7:11 am
welcome back. our political analyst larry gerston joins us now, great to see you and we bring in chuck todd, moderator of "meet the press." hope you had a happy thanksgiving. >> i did. i hope you did, too. >> we sure did, thanks. members of the house judiciary committee spent this week in their home district celebrating thanksgiving. this week they'll be back in d.c. and will hold their first hearings in the impeachment inquiry. chuck, what do you think we should expect and how do you think this is playing politically? >> well, i think you're going to see sort of almost a reaction of how it's playing politically. we have what's clearly a split
7:12 am
decision in public opinion. it didn't happen organically, for what it's worth. republicans have spent millions of dollars in swing districts over the last two months and i think it's had an impact in at least keeping the numbers have been essentially unchanged since its impeachment inquiry began. democrats have not made a political campaign out of this nationally. have not spent money on ads in the same way, and now they're sitting where you have public opinion clearly in this sort of no man's land. there may be narrow support for impeachment, but there's certainly not enough support for removal. so where does that go? i think you're going to see the republicans continue to play this process card. you'll hear today on the show complaining about the president doesn't get to, the witnesses that he wants and trying to deflect, deflect, deflect, not have to talk about the substance of the allegations. democrats continue to want to hear the substance. they believe the more focus on substance the more they can win
7:13 am
the public opinion battle. you'll hear a hearing where it's asymmetrical, one side is having one campaign, and the other is fighting another war. >> yes. chuck, given chair jerry nadler's inability to control cory lewandowski's appearance a couple months ago are the democrats worried nadler may not be up to managing the committee's business this time? >> well i think the fact it's such a narrow list of potential witnesses says something to me of at least some nervousness about that. make no mistake, this is getting managed by leadership, larry, above jerry nadler. look, nadler wanted the inquiry and ended up in schiff's hands. nadler didn't get to run the show and that wasn't his call. i think the fact they're going to do academics for these witnesses and not necessarily any fact witnesses tells you some of that nervousness that
7:14 am
may be out there. >> yes. staying with the democrats, new presidential candidate michael bloomberg is now spending heavily to make his case for the voters. >> yes, he is. >> which current candidates are most likely to be hurt by bloomberg's run, and could any possibly be helped? >> i think the two candidates hurt the most are amy klobuchar and pete buttigieg, all sort of going after the same voter. weirdly enough, while it's clear bloomberg believes he is, that biden isn't going to be up to this, i think it weirdly could help biden. the more fractured this field is, then suddenly the tallest candidate again is suddenly joe biden. everybody gets beaten up. this could be 2004, larry, where everybody goes through the barrel, and you assess the candidates after they've been through the barrel. john kerry went through the barrel first early. by the time march rolled around he suddenly looked durable compared to howard dean and dick
7:15 am
gephardt and john edwards. it's possible that's what this looks come february. in comparison, he's holding up better than everybody else. >> interesting to date back to 2004. haven't heard some of those names in a while. >> i'll go to '76 if you really want. larry and i will go old school and talk about the jimmy carter/pete buttigieg comparison if you want. >> oh, i would love that. we don't have enough time unfortunately. >> no time. no time for the history lesson. >> up to the challenge. chuck, always appreciate your insight. thanks so much. >> thank you, kira. >> chuck might go back to the '70s this morning on "meet the press," but he will remain current and have an interview with presidential candidate amy klobuchar and exclusive interviews with senator john kennedy, former secretary of state john kerry and former governor arnold schwarzenegger. be sure to tune in to "meet the press" at 8:00 a.m. after this
7:16 am
newscast. and larry will be back in about 40 minutes for your weekly political segment. he'll take a longer look at the issue of michael bloomberg entering the race for the democratic nomination. >> not back to 1976. >> by the way, i was around for the 2004 election. larry, thanks so much. see you soon. back to our microclimate weather alert coverage, a peninsula holiday celebration has been called off because of the storm. there will be no festival of lights parade in los los altos today. this is video from last year's parade. no alternate date has been set for this year. as this new storm hits the bay area, san francisco wants residents to be ready, happy guy there. the public works department handed out up to ten sandbags per person to people who own homes and businesses in the
7:17 am
city. all you have to do is bring a proof of address to the public works yard at marin and kansas streets. it's just off of cesar chavezer in 101. let's check in with vianey arana with a look at the forecast. boy, you have been busy. >> and you know, at least if you haven't had to hit the roads, you've been inside and probably heard the wind. it's been gusty and going to continue to be gusty so i do want to get you through the timing of this all. i'll have a look at how much rain has fallen so far and this is what i'm talking about when i'm referring to the drive. look at the commute there, wet roads yet again, a live look over walnut creek, it's cloudy. it's gray and it's rainy. now, we do have our satellite radar that's up right now and always up and scanning. we do have that system, you could still see it on radar, but i want to zoom this in so we can see where the rain is pushing through now our storm ranger. i'll zoom this up to the northeast, pockets of rain moving through santa rosa, san rafael, in through concord now and fairfield as well.
7:18 am
so the commute along 101, highway 80 an absolute mess. if i push this a little bit further in through the interior, could you see tracy's drive for now, san ramon starting to get rain, fremont a little bit of the lighter rain and down through san jose, a bit of a rain shadow. we haven't seen the highest rain totals in the south bay, but further down south, more through the central coast, you could see some heavy pockets of rain pushing in through monterey, and what's going to happen with this storm system is, as we head in towards the afternoon, a lot of this rain is going to begin to push a little bit further north into the santa cruz areas south bay area. so i'm going to take you through that time line but first, how have we fared out when it comes to storm totals? 24-hour storm totals extremely high. it's far up north near ukiah, up to the north bay, nearly three inches of rain through there, three peaks, big sur, this is an area where they have some highways closed, we've been talking about that this morning. check the road conditions, nearly three inches oak ridge,
7:19 am
just over an inch and san francisco, oakland and san jose falling at less than a quarter of an inch. we have more rain on the way today with continued showers through tomorrow. it's also been very gusty, so let's take a look at some of the 24-hour peak gusts. mt. st. helena, 67 miles per hour. mt. diablo, 57 miles per hour. atlas peak 51 miles per hour. along the coastline, half moon bay 48 miles per hour and in san jose 45 miles per hour. napa 39, so the coastline remains under a high wind warning and your microclimate highs for today will be a little bit warmer actually, so might even feel muggy out there. 59 degrees in san jose. 58 in oakland. 56 in napa, and again, that wind advisory remains in place for most of the bay area, until 3:00 a.m. tomorrow, and then a high wind warning for the coastline as well through 3:00 a.m. that flash flood watch also in place right now through 4:00 a.m. for tomorrow for the kincade fire zone through santa rosa, napa and san rafael, and
7:20 am
will continue to see more snow, a winter storm warning is in place again. if you didn't get a chance to make it out there this weekend, it's not going to be a good idea because chain controls right now are required, exposed ridges are seeing gusts upwards of 100 plus miles per hour. rain into monday. showers by tuesday, a little bit of a break on thursday, and then look what happens headed into next weekend, a new storm system is expected to arrive, so don't wash your car, not even a little bit. kira, back to you. >> i got a great natural car wash from the rain yesterday. >> exactly. >> thanks. it is 7:20. much more ahead on "today in the bay." coming up, there once was a man born in england who moved to san francisco and from proclaimed himself emperor. some of the money he printed and distributed was recently found. what is it worth now? more than 100 years later? that story after the break.

welcome back. the man once known as emperor norton is arguably san francisco's most famous character. back in the 1800s, he wore military garb, he issued proclamations and even printed his own unofficial currency. 138 years after his death, those notes are rare, and highly valuable. "today in the bay's" joe rosato, jr., tells us the potential discovery of one of those notes. [ laughter ] >> reporter: san francisco was a city that appreciates a memorable character and this san francisco bar is devoted to the city's most famous character, joshua norton, who, in the late 1800s, proclaimed himself emperore er inorton. >> this is our original sculpture done by local beloved artist jeremy fish. >> reporter: kevin dimattia coemperor of boozeland has taken to collecting all things norton. >> this is from our friend brian. >> reporter: one thing that
7:24 am
alluded him and most other norton collectors. >> one of his notes, currency. >> reporter: back in his day, norton printed up thousands of his own unofficial promissory notes at san francisco printers, some shop owners and citizens even honored them. >> they're printed by the thousands, but then the great fire came through and burned everything, so now it's one of the rarest currencies. >> reporter: so when a stranger called from oregon recently, offering to sell what he claimed was an original norton note, dimattia scraped up a thousand bucks and rolled the dice. >> i took a chance. >> how is it going? >> i'm hoping what is in here is the real deal and not a facsimi facsimile. let's see what is in here. here we go, from the ages. >> reporter: inside the package? >> that is beautiful. >> reporter: a framed photo of norton and what appeared to be a norton note. >> it says the 18th day of february, 1878. >> reporter: judging by the realistic copy on the bar's wall, the difference between a
7:25 am
real note and a fake is an expert's opinion. >> to me, that looks about as official as it gets. >> reporter: which dimattia is not. >> but at first glance it looks similar to the others that we've had. >> reporter: so he took the note to vintage currency expert don kagan in tiburon, who has experience with norton notes. >> number and the date line up with others that we know of. the angle is the same. many of these go into museums or people who really like norton, put it on their wall, so you won't see them for a long time. if this is genuine, it would be the 40th note known. >> reporter: but before proclaiming dimattia's note authentic, another hurdle. >> we have to take it out of the wonderful holder it's in. >> taking this next layer. >> reporter: the delicate task of removing it from its frame fell to antique map seller jimmy
7:26 am
schein. >> this is where it gets a little iffy. in you are $15,000 richer. >> reporter: with the note free of its frame it was back to kagan. >> to my eyes this looks genuine. >> reporter: who proclaimed it the real thing. >> borderline very fine which puts it in the high end. >> reporter: so dimatti 'ace thousand dollar gamble resulted in the discovery of a genuine norton note worth between $12,000 and $15,000. >> to have the actual note that was in his room with him while he signed it and carried it in his pocket and gave it to someone, that's beautiful. >> reporter: as a thing of beauty dimattia plans to hang a copy of his note on the bar's wall and hang on to the
7:27 am
original. >> you have it, an original norton dollar come home to rest in san francisco. >> reporter: a city that appreciates a good character. joe rosato, jr. >> it's real. >> reporter: "nbc bay area news." >> what a cool story. it is just shy of 7:27. we have much more ahead on "today in the bay" coming up. we are under a microclimate weather alert and we will continue our coverage of the rain and the strong wind expected to hit the bay area today.
7:29 am
good sunday morning to you. it is the first day of december, 7:29, as we take a live look outside, wet roads and wet camera lenses on the golden gate bridge on the left. our microclimate weather alert, doppler radar on the right. thanks so much for joining us. i'm kira klapper. we'll get right to vianey arana with a look at that microclimate weather alert. >> kira, as you saw the roads are certainly wet so it's going to be another morning where you have to just slow it down and take your time. we're going to continue to see
7:30 am
these rainy conditions, really all day long. the camera is a little shaky because it's windy down there. that's a live look at downtown san jose, current temperature right now at 54 degrees, and this is what the storm looks like via satellite radar. you could see we have plenty of instability, just off the coast, want to zoom this in, using our storm ranger. we have some showers pushing through right now, in to san jose, so san jose overall seeing some light rain but we'll start to get a little bit more of that rain as we head toward the afternoon, because this system is headed toward the central coast and some of the heavier rain passing through monterey, king city, that means if you're driving along the grapevine down to southern california, expect dangerous travel and dangerous commute through the afternoon. your microclimate highs for this afternoon, you'll notice it's a little bit warmer not as cold. temperatures climb into the upper 50s in oakland. 58 degrees. 59 in san jose, and then those windy conditions also expected to remain at least for the afternoon. that wind advisory will remain
7:31 am
in place through tomorrow morning. the bay so far has seen some of the strongest winds along with the coast, st. lucia seeing gusty conditions in through monday morning. i'll take you through the time line how this will impact your work week ahead coming up in about 15 minutes. kira? >> thanks. 7:31. a deadly accident this weekend after thanksgiving, two cars filled with people crashed on the highway 101 connector to 280. "today in the bay's" kristy smith is live in san jose. it sounds like maybe the slick roads could have been a factor in this crash. >> reporter: good morning to you, kira. certainly the roads are very wet and slick out here this morning. at this point, it's unclear what role in any that played in this. we passed the crash site 25 minutes ago on our way here, and we can tell you that tow trucks were there. they had at least one of the cars involved in this crash on a flatbed truck. so it looked like they're making progress with their investigation. this happened around 3 1/2 hours
7:32 am
ago on the northbound highway 101 connector to 280 in san jose, just after 4:00 this morning. that's when the chp responded to the crash, finding two cars involved with seven people injured. san jose fire worked to extricate several people from both of the cars, but one person did die at the scene. six are listed in serious condition and were transported to trauma centers. the northbound connector to 101 from 101 to 280 in san jose we're told remains closed at this hour. again t did look like from what we saw that they were making progress at the scene. that's the latest from here, reporting live in san jose, kristy smith, "nbc bay area news." >> kristy, thanks for that report. actually up to 80 from you in san francisco we just learned that the chp also is investigating a fatal accident in the city. rain and high speed were contributing factors to the accident, we're told.
7:33 am
this happened on the 25th street off-ramp off of 280. no word on when that off-ramp will reopen this morning. and whether it's the roads or holiday events being canceled, this storm is having a major impact. "today in the bay's" sergio quintana continues our coverage. >> reporter: one of the biggest issues for people braving the cold and rain, slick freeways, persistent downpours on northbound u.s. 101 through marin county, led to major slowdowns with emergency crews responding to spinouts like this one. in san francisco, strong wind gusts snapped a tree branch that knocked out a power line in this outer mission district neighborhood, a person living at this house told me sparks started flying near his front door. the san francisco fire department arrived to make sure the situation is safe. some people spent some of the night by candlelight at least six homes on this block of bryant were without power as pg&e crews worked on the problem. in los altos, the lights went out on the christmas parade there.
7:34 am
this is video of last year's celebration, sunday's event is canceled. the wind and rain could be too much for the electric light floats and costumes and at sfo, the rain and low clouds are causing cancellations and delays. there is a backup of flights taking off and landing. >> i realized when we started making circles that we may not even be able to land. they could forward us somewhere but at least we landed. >> reporter: the rogers family arrived from a long vacation in maui, clearly not ready for the cold here. >> we haven't been outside yet but i'm not too excited for it. >> reporter: there are a lot of travelers wrapping up their long holiday weekend a little early. >> we planned this flight tonight to avoid the crowds probably here tomorrow. >> reporter: sergio quintana, "nbc bay area news." more traffic issues the weather has forced road closures near a popular tourist destination. we first told but this yesterday morning the cal trans did close the section of highway 1 near big sur known as paul's slide,
7:35 am
they closed it around 5:00 yesterday evening because of the threat of landslides. beginning at 9:00 this morning, crews will close mud creek, that's the section of road that was buried by a massive landslide back in 2017. now we take you from the rain to the snow, a difficult drive for folks in the sierra. the chp says drivers should expect to face significant backups through today until tomorrow morning. ski resorts are preparing for all the snow, and the visitors. >> forecast is calling for another 20 tonight, another 10 tomorrow. that's 65 inches of snow in a week. i mean, only in tahoe. you go from the lake to full-on winter. >> chain controls are in effect this morning, on i-80. some spent the day yesterday preparing for the storm, others rushed to get their christmas trees before the worst of the storm moves in. >> had to beat the weather, so i

don't want a soggy tree. >> just recently jumped in the car, had a quick breakfast and got out here. >> the owner of the alhambra christmas tree farm in martinez says friday was her busiest day ever, with many people saying they were trying to beat the rain. and as this weather changes, we will be tracking it all, look at our website and mobile app are great resources to stay in the know. right now on your screen is a qr code in the bottom left. if you have an iphone, open the camera and point it at that code. a pop-up will take you to our weather page and where you can stay up to the minute and get tailored weather radar for your neighborhood. a dramatic situation in the east bay, miraculously ended with no injuries. alameda county firefighters say the driver and passenger of this car managed to get out right before an amtrak train slammed into it. this all happened around 6:00 last night in union city. witnesses say the driver of the

7:38 am
he's been slipping in the polls, and he's now hoping to make a splash with a big push in iowa. our own terry mcsweeney reports. >> reporter: in iowa, the joe biden campaign bus taking an eight-day 18-county tour of the first caucus state trying to rev up his lagging poll numbers beginning in council bluffs. >> i promise you, i promise you, we're going to win this race. >> reporter: his new ride branded in biden speak as the no mularkey tour. >> because the other guy is all lies. >> reporter: many but not all democrat hopefuls hitting the trail across the country with stakes high for early state voters. also in iowa today, kamala harris at a des moines house party. >> we have the ability to unlock the promise of our country. >> reporter: under pressure, after a "new york times" report that described her campaign as unraveled by staff infighting

democrats in congressional races. and for his presidential nomination run, bloomberg promised to self-fund his campaign, that means he won't be taking contributions from anyone, that way bloomberg says he can't be bought. and he can afford it. bloomberg, get this, is worth $58 billion, with a "b," equal to the entire gross domestic product of costa rica. he's like a country. with that kind of money, bloomberg makes tom steyer's $1.6 billion look kind of poor. >> meager. what do we know about bloomberg's political values? he's gone back and forth a few times. >> you got that right. most people see bloomberg as a moderate, along the lines of joe biden, and pete buttigieg, specifically bloomberg wants to increase taxes on the rich, although not as much as elizabeth warren. he favors gun control and supports the existence and defeat of climate change. in recent years bloomberg criticized the me too movement as being too radical.

tuesday, march 3rd, when 40% of the democrat i can convention delegates will be selected. most, by the way, most of california's 495 delegates will be selected that day as well. bloomberg has already spent $30 million this past week on tv ads to introduce himself to the public, and he anticipates spending at least $100 million on the media in key states in the next few months and another $20 million to register up to 500,000 voters alone through next summer. these are huge numbers. 100 million here, soon it adds up to real change. >> yes, right. chump change for him. will heavy spending by bloomberg be enough you think to offset such a late entry into the democratic presidential contest? >> yes. bloomberg seems to think so. although, listen, money alone, it just has precious little sway with the public. voters tend to respond much more to a well-organized ground campaign, especially in the

primaries, than television ads. ads can reinforce predispositions but it's hard to create them. then again, there is this recent tidbit out of cnn, although 87% of democrats have found candidates they like according to polls, more than half could change their minds. that's what bloomberg is thinking about. let's remember that while bloomberg has promised to run an entirely self-financed campaign, he'll never qualify for the debates, which for december 19th event require campaign contributions from at least 200,000 donors. all he has is himself. >> before we go, how long can we expect him to be in the race? >> certainly through super tuesday, march 3rd, at least, and he may go all the way to the democratic national convention, if only bloomberg believes that he can play a role in what some are beginning to see as a brokered convention. in the meantime, kira, if you're watching tv, it may not do much good if you change the station, when you see that bloomberg
