this time around is not an atmospheric river. it's not connecting with some tropical moisture which would enhance the rainfall but we are still going to have some decent rainfall totals as this moves through. so let's take it hour by hour, time it out for you. we're going to see the rain first approaching the north bay by about 2:00 this afternoon, and then as we go into this evening, we see some of the heavier rain starting to make its way into the rest of the bay area at 9:00. we're seeing some of the yellows and the reds, indicating some heavy rain. moving through all of the bay area, but as we wake up tomorrow morning, there will be some breaks in the rain, and then we'll start to see it rolling back on through, going into the evening. so just keep in mind that even when we have the breaks in between the rain, there will be more to come, and it will linger into early sunday morning. during this time, we're looking at some decent rainfall totals so for vianey arana, will show us how much rain we're going to see. >> kari as you were mentioning

the rain will move from north to south and right now we are expecting some of the greatest rainfall totals to be in the north bay specifically up through ukiah, over three inches of rain. sap an sell mow, over three inches in santa rosa and this is where the kincade fire burn zone is so any time we get heavy amounts of rain, that's always a cause for concern for possible debris flow, mud flow, things like that. as far as the south bay goes, we could see just a little over an inch in for the san jose area if you're headed into san francisco, expect over an inch of rain, and then of course highway 17 for the santa cruz mountains we're talking over three inches of rainfall. so the highest totals right now still expected to be up in the north bay and through the santa cruz mountains. as far as the south bay goes, that typically of course tends to fall in the rain shadow, getting a decent amount at best over an inch so we'll keep a close eye on that.
