clearing skies and temperatures running schooler than they were at the same time last night. we are tracking those showers. here is a sneak preview, napa and santa rosa, dropping towards the mid-30s towards the morning. it is the wind shelter valleys that could be waking up to some patchy frost in the north bay and east bay and morgan hill. we have two areas of rain we are watching. one for midweek with light rain totals but as we watch the 49ers taking on the rams on next saturday, there is another storm coming in which could bring in more rain, more on the timing of both storm system coming up in about 20 minutes. >> thank you. a story we broke last night, the owner of an ice rink in brentwood has worked non-stop and getting it up and running again after vandals managed to shut it down. christie smith checks in on the progress.

>> reporter: we are hopin hoping -- there is no skating today on brentwood on ice. it faces a few technical glitches. you will set the chillers as low as 8 degrees. we'll start 25 hours a day and walking and spraying the hose in the area and try to build the ice backup. he says vandals open the valves on the chiller. the rink looked like a lake on what would have been his busiest day. >> it waiting to see what it will cause us. >> tom brought his daughter to visit the princesses who are here today. he just learned about what happened. >> so sad that somebody would do something like that. police stopped by, gregory says some women stole skates and believed there could be connection. his focus is on the ice. he didn't ask for help but is touched that the community has

rallied around him. another ice rink offered to rescue parties that were planned here before the vandalism. >> the support has been incredible. >> to me is the christmas spirit. it is about supporting the community. >> reporter: they have been hard at work all day trying to put it back together. the plan is for the rink to reopen wednesday. brentwood, christie smith, nbc bay area news. you can expect ticket lines at kaiser permanente. thousands are going on strike. nurses and doctors did not reach a new contract. kaiser says it is working to address the concerns but the strike only hurts the patients. pg&e is facing an uncertain

future after governor newsom rejected the new deal. activists want pg&e to make restructuring and safety a priority. the coalition says at least 111 californians have died because of fires and power outages this year. a crime with some evidence left behind. take a look at this. police interrupted a marijuana business in santa rosa this weekend. the burglar wait in cars and leaving behind this, a trail of marijuana in the streets. the suspect were six black men in their mid-20s. one of the get away car crashed into a patrol car. we should know on tuesday, the fire department is taking a step towards the future.

fire district is considering buying a very expensive all electric fire trucks like this one. this one comes of a price tag of $1.2 million. five members elected board will vote on tuesday if the fire electric should go ahead and buy it. the fire chief says it would save taxpayers money on equifax a gas and maintenance. after two seasons of delay, crabs are in season tonight. both unloading thousands of crabs. marianne is here with us. >> reporter: some of those crabs are already being served here at fishermen's wharf. >> it is the moment bay area fishermen and seafood lovers have been waiting for. thousands of pounds of fresh

the bay area after leaving the giants to three world series titles. last year and 2014, that was amazing. he entrenched his name in baseball history. he carries the giants to victory while being named mvp. bumgarner was rumored to join the dodgers. he did not do that. arizona's first trip to oracle park next season is april 6th. the hallmark channel is working to reinstate a commercial that was pulled off the air because of complaints from conservative activists. zola which was a wedding website debuts several ads includes couples kissing. it features two brides kissing each other which drew sharp backlash from the conservative groups. hallmark removed this commercial but is now working to get it baa k back on the air.

the president of hallmark, the team has been agonizing, it was unintentionally caused. we are truly sorry for the hurt and the disappointment that this has caused. lori loughlin, one of the parents charged in the college emissions scandal admission scandal is not going down without a fight. federal prosecutors refused to turn over evidence. loughlin paid the university half a million dollars in bribes to secure her daughter's admission as a rower. the u.s. attorney's office has yet to respond. bernie sanders will make another visit to the golden state. he's scheduled to tour parts of southern california all week including coachella and l.a.

on saturday, alexandria ocasio-cortez will join bernie sanders in l.a. the navy is building a ship that was named after him. the navy began construction of a fleet oiler that was be named after mill who became the first openly gay elected official. it is one of six ships that'll be named after civil rights icon. mill served his navy instructor in the 1960s before being ousted for his sexual orientation. >> the navy is building a ship celebrating someone they did not previously celebrate. that sends a global message and a message of inclusion. please celebrate everyone.

it is expected to be completed in two years. not so fast, san francisco's may 4th list to keep accepting cash for bike rentals in the city. the city will no longer accept cash for bike share service in the bay area. san francisco leaders and advocates say it would cut out the low income community so they are planning to require cash payments as an option. sonoma county fishes are working to address the homelessness crisis. possible short term in doors or outdoors shelters. sonoma county has about 3,000 homeless people. mayor london reed invited everyone to the free family celebration. there were life music and face painting and santa's workshop and train rides that you just

some good tips. the weather is becoming more like winter. >> feels like it outside right now. >> 30 degrees temperatures around 10:00. with we are setting up well with some patchy fog. we manage a dry day and have not had too many of those. probably seeing 40s for tonight, closer to the bay, out towards walnut creek and dropping into the mid-40s. we'll see some 30s by tomorrow morning. moon rise off to the east of downtown right now. it is 49, likely to see some upper 30s by the morning. check these temperatures out. napa and fairfield and santa rosa, already near 40 to 41 degrees. 30 before midnight tonight. for most of the bay area, we have seen temperatures running cooler than last night. we are watching showers and a lot more clouds and moisture in

the air. trapping some of the heat and not getting that right now. sky is clearing dryer air and settling on in. we'll have a dry day for monday. notice those same locations we looked at, napa, santa rosa and fairfie fairfield, mid-30s. you can have some patchy frost. temperatures are going to feel chilly. highs in the mid-50s from san francisco in oakland. mid-50s no matter where you go around the bay area, up towards clear lake highs in the low 50s. our next chance of rain, two chances we are watching. tuesday night into wednesday. it looks like it is going to fall apart as it crosses in land. most of tuesday will be dry but cool. wednesday morning commute, you can see how the rain starts to push through the bay area but rain totals from about midnight, wednesday to about midday wednesday. generally less than a quarter inch of rain. mid weekend, we don't think it will have a big impact of

weather. thursday to friday, dry around the bay area. showers in the north bay and briefly on thursday and another dry day in the forecast. look at what happens as we head towards next saturday and sunday. the rain projections here. 5:00 on saturday. the reason why the time stamp is there. as things looking right now, the rain may hold off until saturday night into sunday morning. so, keep a close sign of that forecast because as you saw it is the weekend storm that'll pack a bigger punch in terms of the rainfall. chilly temperatures and feeling more like december, early winter preview continues, midweek showers and we'll work out on the timing next weekend. it does look like we'll get half an inch of more rain. keep it on the closer side. >> you know that song that says

wall. a wall thousands of children passed over six decades. a few years ago, facility manager heather hickman noted something other had missed. >> i pulled out my phone and turned on the light realized that it was the profile head. >> reporter: some research in the school library revealed a series of fresco had been painted on the school wall in the '30s were painted over. one of them was frederick jr. the school got a grant to uncover tiny patches to see what was there. >> you can see the skyscraper. >> reporter: the school recently got another grant to remove the paint. that's when the wall became a portal to the path. >> from there about 12 or so layers of paint. >> reporter: molly lambert and her team peeled away the
