that rain coming in later on tonight, for the north bay and maybe a little bit earlier as we're seeing some light, spotty rain on storm ranger, but the bulk of the storm still well off the coast. we have one that will be coming in overnight into tomorrow, and another storm that will be moving into the bay area on saturday. as we take it hour by hour, we see mostly cloudy skies today, even a few peeks of sunshine, but at 10:00 tonight we're going to start to see that rain moving into the coast, and the north bay, spreading across the rest of the bay area later on this evening, into early tomorrow. so more on that coming up in a few minutes. mike, you spotted something in east palo alto. >> that's right, sounds like things will look much different 24 hours from now. i spotted this one sign truck there, technically on the border there, east palo alto right there and ikea and menlo park at the university off-ramp, just that one truck. i scanned the area, no lanes blocked. i believe there are lanes blocking north of marsh headed toward whipple traditional spot.

a smooth drive for the speed sensors around the bay. slowing for 980 from the nimitz over to 580 but that disabled vehicle looks like there was a quick break, slowing and now cleared over the last five minutes. good stuff. the bay bridge toll plaza your traditional clear drive, folks paying cash have to wait a couple of seconds for a couple of cars. back to you. >> thank you, mike. breaking news for you, deputies are investigating a deadly double shooting, this is new video from the scene on hargas avenue near east orchard, an unincorporated area near valle vallejo. investigators say this happened when some kind of shoot-out started around midnight. one woman is treated for head injuries but no word yet on what sparked this shooting. deputies say there is no longer a danger to the public. our bob redell is headed to the scene and will have a live report at 5:00. not too far south in contra costa county more breaking news, two people dead after a wrong-way crash on eastbound 80 in pinole.

it happened just before midnight. at least three lanes were closed for hours. chp reopened all lanes just a short time ago. "today in the bay's" kris sanchez looking more into the crash, she'll also have a live report at the top of the hour. now to capitol hill, where just about 24 hours from now, the stage will be set for the final house debate on impeachment. "today in the bay's" tracie potts reports from washington on what to expect and how soon we can expect the final house vote. >> reporter: the house rules committee today setting the stage for one final debate on impeachment. >> we want to make sure that we protect a process or doesn't turn into a circus. >> reporter: debate, then a vote expected tomorrow on two articles against president trump, abuse of power, and obstruction of congress. it's a tough vote for politically vulnerable democrats, like michigan's alyssa slotkin, with mixed reaction back home she's voting yes. >> i feel that in my bones and i will stick to that regardless of

segment. last friday governor newson turned down pg&e's first settlement plan. it included $13 billion for victims in a series of fires, including the tubbs fire and butte county camp fire. pg&e needs to have a final plan in place by june 30rd to qualify for new state fund covering the cost of future fires. the settlement would also help the company emerge from bankruptcy. >> 4:35 right now. an emotional plea from the fiance of beloved high school coach shot and killed in front of his children saturday morning. >> last night, leah perry showed us where two masked gunmen entered the hallway and fired at rafael lopez. he was a football coach for several programs in the east bay and a youth sports coach in concord. police initially reported the victim and gunman knew each other. the family says they have no idea who the intruders were. >> and i heard a shot, and then

i saw rafael come from our bedroom down the hallway and tackle the guy in the hallway. >> he died because he was protecting his second oldest son who had a gun to his face. if they only knew what kind of man raf was. >> witnesses say the two gunmen got away in a gray or silver imported sedan. right now police are not saying a lot about that investigation. happening today, sonoma county leaders unveil an emergency plan to address the homeless crisis focusing mainly along the joe rodada trail. among the options, possible short-term indoor and outdoor shelters at the county fairgrounds. sonoma county has approximately 3,000 homeless people. today we get set, get the first look at the controversial homeless center on san francisco's waterfront. mayor london breed will open the doors of the new embarcadero navigation center. neighborhood groups have been fighting the shelter, even filing lawsuits that were shot

been giving us the forecast. >> people want an opportunity to get to christmas in the park because we've had waves of rain coming in, and i think by late tonight, we'll see another round of rain coming in, but as we track with storm ranger, our mobile doppler radar, the red scan we have our doppler radar truck parked on san bruno mountain and as of right now picking up on some light rain off the coast and parts of northern sonoma county. elsewhere we are looking dry. as you head out the door in antioch it's another cold morning. we're going to stay at about 37 degrees until about 7:00, and then slowly start to warm up, but there won't be as much sunshine today, compared to yesterday, so there will be some more of those changes ahead. once again, another dry look at christmas in the park. tomorrow we'll have a different picture, but today it's a day again to bundle up. you do need the layers, maybe a hat and a coat will help keep you warm with temperatures mostly in the upper 30s and low 40s this morning. we are going to see a lot of clouds rolling by as we go into the rest of the day, and then by

tonight, we start to see the rain coming in. here we are at 10:00, and we're seeing the rain starting to approach the coast, in san francisco, parts of the north bay, and then it moves from west to east, as we go into this evening. off and on rain throughout the day tomorrow and it starts to taper off, becoming a lot more spotty, but we will still keep a chance through at least the early part of the day, and then clearing out by thursday morning. rain totals look to be pretty good here. we're looking at about anywhere from a quarter inch to up to an inch in the skroanta cruz mounts and north bay. sierra snow, no the a lot but maybe one to five inches of snow. there will be more rain in the forecast going into the weekend with our next storm system approaching on saturday afternoon into sunday, and it looks like it takes its time working its way through, so we will see the rain coming in late saturday afternoon, continuing on sunday and tapering off on monday, while temperatures will

cool off quite a bit. i'll be watching that for you, and mike, right now you have a new crash in fremont. >> i do, kari, affecting this area, i zoomed out the camera but we got more detail. the light volume just starting to build again. there was no traffic breaks scheduled for southbound 880, because of this crash, but i just saw that again lighter traffic flow starting to build once again. coming in through fremont it's the thornton avenue on-ramp actually as you are looking south of da koto. the on-ramp will know there's a u-haul dealership and car dealership, right in the area where there's an overturned vehicle affecting perhaps the approach to the metering lights. so it's probably not visible as you drive past the scene. flashing lights will make that a distraction though over the next few. the rest of the bay shows a smooth drive, reports of surface streets a couple of crashes on the peninsula. nothing as far as the freeways go. highway 17 just fine at the limit headed toward los gatos and santa cruz. yesterday and continuing we'll have landscaping issues going

on, one lane blocked throughout the morning time, a slower drive from santa cruz coming up from south county y no delays out o san martin. an hour before speeds dip unless there's an issue we'll follow that. contra costa county at speed to the bay bridge toll plaza. a little blip north of the golden gate bridge, just showed up, i'll check back, guys. back to you. >> thanks, mike. 4:49 for you right now. and striking kaiser mental health workers are expected to hit the picket lines once again today. ♪ two, four, six, eight >> approximately 4,000 workers are taking part in the five-day strike. today is day two. workers today will hit the picket lines in cities including oakland, los angeles and fresno. they say many patients are waiting months for appointments. kaiser says it is committed to keeping facilities open touring the strike and has hired 500 new employees this year alone. the union says it's been working without a contract for more than a year. a bit of gd news for an east

bay ice rink targeted by vandalless over the weekend. brentwood on ice may reopen as soon as noon today. it was supposed to be closed until tomorrow after vandals tampered with valves, causing all the ice to melt. the rink owner says teams are working around the clock to make those repairs and police are still trying to track down the people responsible. new this morning, santa rosa police are on the hunt for a half dozen people now tied to a string of marijuana burglaries. the latest happened before dawn on saturday, and listen to this. when the thieves left a trail of marijuana bags during their getaway. responding officers say the group then led them on a wild high-speed chase and at times driving on the sidewalk and also crashing into a police car. it all started when the officers responded to an alarm at a cannabis business in the piner place. this is on piner place. officers called off the chase over concerns for public safety. it is 4:50. new details now on two homeless mothers who recently took over

an empty house in oakland. they're being allowed to stay there for now. the women were supposed to be evicted today from the home on magnolia street but late yesterday a claim of right to possession was filed and accepted by the court. now they have 15 days until a judge decides if they can remain there and work out a deal with the property managers. the property owners still consider the women squatters and are confident they'll be eventually evicted. in an effort to boost housing options, walnut creek leaders today plan to debate easing rules for so-called granny units. pleasant hill councilmembers debated the same thing yesterday. those changes would include easing size limitations and loosening parking requirements. san jose leaders are also in the process of changing granny unit rules. some of this includes the response to new state laws requiring cities to create additional housing. more housing option also soon be coming to berkeley. councilmembers have just approved a new six-story
