scattered showers into the rest of the bay area. light rain to oakland and over the peninsula right now. it's just starting to approach the south bay. so we're going to see the off and on showers with us for the next few hours. making that morning commute a little bit more slick, mike. so what are they dealing with as they head out the door? >> kari, the green radar means wet conditions. the green highlighting. i want to start with a special note for b.a.r.t. it is open andow. you might have heard a big delay, problems on the tracks in conco concord. those problems have been cleared for the morning ride and a nice, easy drive. if you are going to an outdoor station that highlighted green may be an issue here as you see contra costa county and along the south bay and over in the tri-valley.

back to you. new overnight a run in san bruno. officers tweeting out this video between sixth and seventh avenues meet. a car plowed into a fire hydrant, the driver did not stick around for police to arrive. firefighters eventually turned off the hydrant, a bit more wet for the wear. 4:32. b.a.r.t. wants to clean up and make the commute better for riders. its board of directors are looking at creating ambassadors. pete is live for us. hi, pete. >> reporter: good morning. they want to vote on this ambassador program which will essentially be community service operators on the trains and their main focus is to focus on what they call quality of life issues for passengers that are riding on these b.a.r.t. trains. part of a six-month ambassador pilot program through b.a.r.t. if approved later this morning.

for the man acquitted in the kate steinle hearing. prosecutors filed a charge after jurors found zarate not guilty in the shooting death of kate steinle on pier 14. his attorneys argued the gun went off accidentally after he found it under a bench. another story on the housing crisis. healthy advocates will speak on behalf of more than 700 people living in a san jose mobile home park. residents received eviction warnings this week that they may have to leave by august of 2022. mhc operating manages the park and says the owners of the property are demanding that the property be returned with no residents when the lease expires. but in a statement bruce nicholson says the well-being and stability of the park is the partnership's top priority. tenants say if they are forced to move they will have to leave

good thursday morning. right now at 4:39 as we take a look at our radar we are seeing a wave of rain quickly moving through the bay area. but this will not last all day. in fact, it will mostly be out of here by noon. how much to expect as we head into the next several days as far as rain. that's coming up in the micro climate forecast. and here's some of that rain, more loosely packed bay bridge. that won't last all day either. we'll have the buildup of the backup. we'll have the clearing hopefully of the wet roads. right now slick conditions. we'll talk about that coming up. good morning from cnbc headquarters. wall street is set to open up higher today adding to

yesterday's gains. the nasdaq and s&p 500 both closing at record highs. after president trump downplayed iran's missile strike on u.s. bases in iraq, attempting to diffuse concerns, may enter into a wider conflict. children's vice premier will sign the phase one trade deal. extending rewards to chase customers who use credit cards to pay for their lyft rides. reserve members will earn ten rewards points on every dollar they spent on lyft and will receive a free one-year membership that costs $20 a month and save on rides and other benefits. buying is more affordable than renting in more than half of the country's housing markets. location, location, location is still the key.

a very good thursday morning to you. look at that. wet roadways out there. this is a live look at the golden gate bridge. take it easy as you head out the door. slick in some parts. >> kari and mike are watching ening it's all starting to roll out of here. a quick moving system bringing us rain and snow and you can se letting up some. we head into parts of the east bay from oakland to richmond, concord, light rain but heavier right now for antioch. that will be moving out within the next few minutes and then some areas where there's yellow being picked up on radar. for the most part it is light

down to palo alto and into the south bay. light showers coming down soap the roads are getting a coating of some wet conditions. this weather system has been a fairly quick moving one and will be out of here as we head to 6:00. it clears the north bay. by 8:00 most of us are seeing the rain out of here for at least the most part of the day. and once again for the evening commute we are all dry. dry but that next round of rain comes in early on saturday morning. by 4:00 we're seeing some light inwe'lstart to see it tapering off as we head throughout the day on saturday, so the weather forecast is improving for the 49ers game. looking at how much rain we're about to see right now, very light amounts once again. a tenth to a quarter inch of rain is holding. for the weekend anywhere from

about three to four, maybe up to five inches of snow. but look at what happens as we go into next week. bigger storms headed our way and there may be several feet of snow in the sierra next week. for the sierra snow, bay area rain. more active systems coming in heading to the middle to end of next week. we're going to see the morning showers clearing through. dry tomorrow and another round of rain again on saturday. make, you were saying there was a lane blocked in san jose. >> we don't want to have spinouts. southbound 101, hopefully getting cleared, no slowing showed up either direction but this highlighting takes the data kari is showing you for the radar, if that's what's going on above the roads, then the road

conditions must be like this, green means slick and means go for the speed sensors. that's what we see for most of the bay. a new incident in the palo alto area. over here contra costa county moves nicely getting to the bay bridge. a little slowing across the span kicking iri may be because rain is kicking in through the area. a note, b.a.r.t., the big delays at 6:00 p.m. concluded before 3:00 this morning. now everything is moving smoothly on the b.a.r.t. system. the county connection, those buses helped take the folks through concord where there was a problem on the tracks. if you're waiting outside, you may be wet with this wet weather. the bay bridge toll plaza shows you the cash lanes starting to back up and we only have one more cash lane to open up. 4:49. we should see the metering lights on schedule looking at the golden gate bridge as well as we showed you earlier. not a fog issue.

you see the lights across the span. it is the slick roads that is the concern. 4:49. police in los angeles looking for two men wanted in a string of armed robberies targeting nail salons. this shows the robbers in action, terrifying customers. at least half a dozen salons have been hit since late november. governor newsome says he will not hold a special election to fill duncan hunter's seat. the republican resigned following a corruption conviction. he pleaded guilty last month to charges that he and hisfe$150,0 campaign funds for personal expenses. the san diego district is expected to vote for a new congressman in 2021. hunter's resignation leaves empty one of the gop's few remaining house seats in california. also new this morning the uc regents are weighing the future of standardized test scores in

admission requirements. regents are looking into making those tests optional, even ending their use entirely. things like s.a.t. and acts, in the wake of new lawsuits arguing they are a form of discrimination. "the chronicle" says the head of the a.c.t. sent a letter to regents this week listing potential negative consequences including closing the door for underserved students without stellar grades. happening today in contra costa county, parents and students can weigh in on renaming wilson elementary school after first lady michelle obama. a committee will meet to consider the request and hear public input at 6:00. the committee will also meet a second time later this month to discuss the possible name change again. >> and gearing up for a showdown for the 49ers.

>> your majesty. a heads-up, it is raining for most of us around the bay area as you head out for the morning commute. a different drive this morning and you're having to get out the umbrellas but you won't need it all day. we'll see the rain rushing through quickly. if you're an early riser you'll have to deal with it. you will see the sun starting to peek out and the rain is falling as we're heading to noon. we will have sunshine and another round of rain by weekend. we'll talk more about that coming up. mike, drivers should slow downa you'll want to slow it toward us you see the wet roadways, the water kicking up. even though it may not actively be raining, the green shows you where there will be wet roads, pretty much all over the bay. no major problems for this crash on the peninsula. 101 is at speed. to the bay bridge a little slowing on the incline, again, i think because there's active rain falling and b.a.r.t. is running on time without any delays.
