proceed with caution. how long will the rain stick around. >> just for a little while longer. it is moving out of the bay bridge and across bay with a tenth of an inch of rain. and some of the rain that we're tracking with our storm ranger mobile doppler radar moving into san francisco, as well as san jose, so some of the main areas dealing with some rain right now. especially from milpitas toward santa clara. we could see where stroerm -- storm ranger showing where the rain is following because we widen out the view to show the large system moving snow across the sierra and also rain to the north but we'll get drier air and then turn our attention to the next storm system developing in the southern gulf of alaska that will be much stronger than what we're seeing right now. so throughout the day, just a couple of spotty showers, especially farther to the north. the rest getting sunshine. and then by tomorrow clouds move in as the next storm system

approaches. the rain moves into the north bay early on thursday morning at 4:00 in the morning and notice the colors. the gene indicating light rain and the rain will be heavy in red and then transition over to snow as you look at the bay area peaks elevates above 3500 feet and could have some very heavy snow coming down. all of this rushes south into the rest of the bay area during that thursday morning commute. and then rounds of rain as we go throughout the day on thursday before it gradually tapers off on friday morning. so pretty much a whole day of some rain here. so it will add up with with the potential of three quarters of an inch of rain to over an inch in some spots, part of the east bay and upper elevations and the north bay. if you're traveling to the sierra, it is not going to be good travel conditions. after the next 24 hours the heavy snow starts to come down. we're looking at at least two

feet of snow around a lot of the resorts and it is good news that we're going to see heavy snow but not good if you're traveling either to or from the sierra. we're looking at some of the wet weather coming in all day on thursday but drying out on friday. saturday there will be a weak storm system coming in and looks like it would fizzle out and then warmer and drier weather for next week. mike, you're saying the roads will be slick for drivers. we could see that on our live camera over here in palo alto. now the drops dries off the lens and the northbound 101 toward university and the sheen on the roadway so there are slick conditions but mostly i'm worried about the off-ramp and the curves. we have green building in. for tuesday this is a later build. 6:51 now with with the commute starting to build but north 17 and this is about the third crash i've seen at near the summit road area with with a crash involving one car left

and at this point if anybody knows what is next. they're not saying. we do know this was an eviction order that was ordered by a judge on friday saying that the women had no legal basis to remain in the home that is owned by southern california developer. the community wanted the developer to sell that property to the oakland housing trust so that it could be used for affordable housing, that does not appear to be in the works at this point, the developer wanted to rehab the house essentially using employment and at-risk youth to do the renovation. but rebecca caplan said if you use any documentation or business permits as evidence, there is no proof that is a plan that is actually in motion. you hear the crowd now and they are chanting mothers and babies. at this point you could hear them.
6:58 am
[ crowd chanting ] >> reporter: we don't know how long they'll be out here. but there are quite a number of people. this is again magnolia street and 30th. and this is where the officers do remain this morning. there was a bit of a scuffle down on the 30th street as one man was asking the deputies why they showed up with so much heavy machinery. the bear cat and the armored milt vehicles and military style vehicles and ak-47s but other than that people have been chanting "shame on you" to the officers and asks them why they are doing this. the mothers though have been removed. we saw at least three people removed in restraints, including two of the mothers that came out earlier this morning. we don't know if they were properly arrested or if they were just restrained and then released. so the spokesperson for the alameda county sheriff's department is out here this morning. wi we asked for more information and he said not right now and needs to get facts together and
