people visited a seafood wholesale market. over 500 infections alone have been confirmed. it may have spread from animals to people and as a result china arded a quarantine of the entire city so no traveling in or out of the city. a map showing how widespread this virus has become and it's suspected in at least 11 countries around the globe including one case here in the u.s. in washington state. the western arrived from china on january 15th and is now in isolation in that area. they are monitoring 16 people who may have been in contact with them. >> people should go about their usual routines and activities. this may be a novel virus but this is not a novel investigation. this is the work we do all the time. public health is well trained to

do these kinds of investigations. >> reporter: symptoms include a runny nose, headache, cough and fever so we're talking about flu like symptoms. there's no vaccine to prevent this infection. patients are being isolated. a state senate committee requiring pg&e to compensate for lost wages and even spoiled food. a bill has to be passed before the end of january for it to become law. the governor yesterday said the bankruptcy judge a letter saying the plan falls short. they made an agreement with bondholders to get the green light. the governor is still pushing

for the senate to take over pg&e. a live look at the busiest roadways in richmond and oakland. maybe not right this minute but california is being ranked as one of the top states when it comes to road safety. california earned a green rating in part for seat belt laws. the worst states are south dakota, wyoming, and missouri. a follow-up, the district is now moving forward with a plan to close two schools in june. the district superintendent made her recommendation to the school board last night despite heavy opposition. the district is struggling with lower enrollment and faces a $12 million deficit. new for you this morning a

francisco's new color coded placard system for all food facilities. supervisors approved the plan last fall. it is similar to the ones you might see in los angeles. a color coded sign, green, yellow or red to indicate the most recent health inspection results. it's expected to launch in the next few months. story, too, because frequent fliers to hawaii are most likely saying -- ♪ this is the southwest latest announcement. they will start offering more flights out of oakland starting in march. flights began on the big island. southwest already flies from oakland to both honolulu and maui. all right, well, kari, you have something to show us. >> i've been a meteorologist for about 15 years now. i thought i had heard everything until the national weather service issued a falling iguana.

5:24. this morning a police manhunt is under way in seattle after a shooting near the popular pike place market. one woman died as well as a 9-year-old. it happened around 5:00 yesterday evening.

police believe itta argument between two men. we don't yet know if the woman was connected. >>he faa is investigating a deadly plane four people died when a small plane went down 40 miles east of los angeles. other arriving flights are now being sent to other airports. and a well-known hollywood actress is expected to take the stand in the harvey weinstein sexual assault trial. she once played a role in "the sopranos." she claimed she was raped in the early 1990s. the movie mogul says it was consensual. prosecutors hope to use her testimony to show weinstein engaged in a pattern of predatory behavior. weinstein is facing possible life in prison convicted. new details this morning, fo antonio brown now face as florida. police issued a warrant for his arrest. that charge is connected to an

allegation by a moving truck driver that brown and brown's trainer assaulted him. officers arrested the trainer yesterday. brown was dropped by the raiders and patriots after starting with pittsburgh. the horse racing board did not make any major announcements after meeting for the first time in sacramento. it comes in the wake of three more recent horse deaths at the santa anita racetrack. that brings the total to five there this month. the first meetings this year are being held at the state capital in sacramento. we're still not sure how this happened. look, it's a puppy with its head through a tire. it happened in southern california and rescuers were able to get the puppy unstuck. they tried to sedate her and had to cut a piece of the tire away.

that you video again captured by ring door cam. posted to ring social media website. it is graphic and it might be disturbing to watch. now this video was taken around 12:30 monday morning. you see a man in a hoodie attack a woman as she's about to enter her condo. he fox her to the ground. points at her with what looks like a semiautomatic handgun and steals her purse. >> she saw someone walking towards her, thought it was a friend of one of her neighbors, turned to walk into her unit, at which point in time the man came at her from behind, grabbed her purse, shoved her down to the ground and pulled a gun. >> the screaming is really terrifying. if his intention was to get inside i hope her screaming sent him away. >> reporter: the president of the homeowners association tells us the resident attacked

backing the idea of a bus only lane. that is catching fire. ac transit leaders talked about a resolution to support the idea first floated a couple weeks ago. the same idea has been tried before over a few months in the 1960s. it featus cameras and will post train arrival times. it would cover all downtown entrances. one east bay city is asking residents to make the streets safer for bicyclists and for walkers. and what their ideas are for make that go happen. the east bay times reports more than 1,400 people have contributed to that survey. you can highlight spots where they want to see safety improvements or where they have had close calls with cars.

reports say democrats have backed away from an idea where they would trade witnesses, allow john biden to testify along with bolton. many say it was flawed from the beginning. though impeachment is not the same as a criminal trial you can't call anyone to a criminal trial. bolton was there during the commission of the alleged crime, biden was not. democrats would love to put stormy daniels on the stand or subpoena trump's tax records but they're not relevant to the case. president trump is back in the white house. he he said he was tempted to head over to the wha do you think, w show up at your trial? >> wouldn't that be great? wouldn't that be beautiful. i would love to sit in the front row and stare into their corrupt faces. i would love to do it.

forecast and a look at the view in oakland. we haven't seen many widespread dense fog. you can leave the umbrella at home. it starts out cloudy. a little bit on the cool side with upper 40s as we go throughout the day we're going to see our temperatures in the low 50s by noon. eventually reaching into the low 60s for the south bay. expect a high of 62 in los gatos. milpitas reaching 61 degrees. 61 in concord. fremont, 62. upper 50s for half moon bay and redwood city. the north bay reaching 59 in novato. so after a mild day,ew clouds rolling lot of the rain well to the north of us. we'll see this storm system arriving and it will bring in ou round of rain.
