next lot of the rain fizzles out as it moves in so we're dry today and then through early tomorrow morning we see light showers moving into santa rosa and areas to the north and that is what we'll see in terms of measurable rain and a lot of this starts to break up to become very scattered for tomorrow afternoon. and then it is out of here. now that is our only chance of rain throughout the week as you could see and our seven-day forecast. we're going to be warming up and just some clouds nearby with that steady stream of rain to our north. so we are looking at a beautiful weekend heading into the bay area. some upper 60s inland. san francisco will be in the low 60s. and we just had that chance of rain in san francisco for tomorrow morning. the rest of the day will then b the end of the week we're up to about 63 degrees on of the door looking at the bay bridge toll plaza, this is backed up all morning long. they turned on the metering

lights so expect that morning commute to be a little bit longer across the bay bridge. elsewhere a couple of issues popping up getting through i-80 and we've seen a long back-up heading through richmond and then also on highway 4 we've seen the back-up going westbound on highway 4 just to the west of pittsburg and then for the south bay we've seen a lot of green sensors just a couple of people slowing down to look at a traffic hazard on 280 but elsewhere no major issues in the south bay. checking out the bridge drivetimes, i-80, bay bridge about 13 minutes. slow on the san mateo bridge and dumbarton bridge is maybe a good alternate for you. and then looking at westbound 80 from highway 4 to the bay bridge talks about 26 minutes. i'll be watching all of the weather and traffic with another update coming up again in less than ten minutes. >> thanks, kari. :20 now. sometimes a closer look could make all of the difference.

police if oakland investigating a shooting near hamilton street just before 8:00 p.m. police found a man shot in the shoulder. investigators are now looking at video from nearby surveillance cameras. a follow-up on a discovery last week that rattled people in one stockton neighborhood when authorities found a man who had died of natural causes in his home and turns out that they discovered what they believed were hundreds of military explosives but those devices were harmless replicas. the scare forced 20 nearby homes to be evacuated for more than a day. police in malibu are approving a new plan opponents say singles out homeless rv owners. neighbors say the parking the first time the malibu leaders have approved such a ban. the problem is coastal commission needs to sign off on it as well. in the past commissioners have refused to do so.

head out of the door this morning. kari hall is monitoring the forecast. >> it is a cool start around the bay area. we've only seen light patches of fog here and there. for the most part we're clear and it is warmest in san francisco. where it is 50 degrees. we're down to 43 in the tri-valley. 42 in napa. and 40 in san martin and san jose starts out at about 44 degrees. through the day, from a light jacket to probably no jacket at all as our temperatures warm up and we get some sunshine reaching near 60 degrees by the time that last school bell rings. as we get out of the door checking out the morning commute it is a slow drive across the san mateo bridge. no fog right now. and we've also seen more people getting up and heading out of the door. but no major crashes which is good news. let's hope it says that way. i'll have another update coming up in a few minutes. >> thank you, kari. well fans and nonfans mourning the death of kobe bryant as new details emerge

about the crash that killed him and his young daughter. ntsb investigators are expected to be at the crash site this morning trying to figure out why the helicopter went down killing all nine people on board. this video shows the smoking wreckage. that chopper went down in calla bass kwas yesterday morning in heavy fog. >> and authorities identified three additional victims including kobe's 13-year-old daughter gianna and all but one victim has been identified. investigators want to know iffing to played a role in the crash. >> there was an issue of visibility and a low ceiling. the actual conditions at the time of impact, that is still yet to be determined. >> the pilot was apparently waiting for clearance to land in burbank when he made a u-turn before descending. in the meantime, super bowl festivities are supposed to start but many people don't feel like celebrating. >> and anthony flores is live in

new fears the deadly coronavirus outbreak is expanding as a must case is confirmed here in california. "today in the bay" kris sanchez joins us live at sfo where a lot of international travelers are getting screened right when they arrived. kris? >> reporter: well, hi there, laura. none of the new cases here in northern california. but sfo gets flights from wuhan, china, which is where the center of the outbreak is. travel restrictions are in effect there. but tomorrow they will evacuate personnel and private citizens from wuhan here to california. now health screeners here at sfo are taking temperatures of arriving international passengers and asking about symptoms and new cases confirm yesterday in l.a. county, orange county and maricopa county in arizona. the first two cases were confirmed in washington and chicago. all of the patients are being

held in isolation. and last time cdc did airport screening was in the 2014 ebola outbreak. screeners, though, did not catch any cases. like sfo, l.a.x. is also screening passengers which is where an arriving passenger self-reported his symptoms. >> the airport screenings are working effectively, but remember they're not perfas abo 100 samples for suspected cases they've ruled out about a quarter of those so far. in china the coronavirus killed at least 80 people and sickened nearly 3,000 and that is a jump over yesterday's numbers. australia, france, scrape, singapore, thailand also have confirmed cases. but with a 14-day incubation period, some folks who are sick may not know it yet. a reminder, the cdc said this is all precautionary at your risk, my risk and average person, our risk is very, very low unless we

"today in the bay's" bob redell outside of the warm springs b.a.r.t. station in fremont with the reason why. so, bob, why are we seeing this? >> reporter: well, marcus, according to the study, you could blame ride-sharing services like uber and lyft and people are living farther away there transit hubs. we're outside of the warm springs b.a.r.t. station in fremont. the mercury news is reporting about a new study lei-- study released by kwlu and found that between 2016 and 2018 ridership on b.a.r.t., muni, cal rain and all of the other bay area transit fell by 5.2% adding up

warm one. breezy at times and then by the end of the game it is only dropping down a few more degrees. if you are hiking, saturday is the best day. sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures in muir woods. 62 degrees and cooler on sunday. a light cooldown along the coast by the end of the weekend and you'll be at home watching the game anyway. we're at 62 on saturday for that high temperature in half moon bay and in the tri-valley looking very nice but look at how warm it is going to be. up to 70 degrees on saturday. and then cooler with more clouds on sunday. let's get out on the roads on this monday morning as you head out. we've seen a little bit of a slowdown on the bay bridge past treasure island and something slowing people down but elsewhere across the bay area some minor crashes but no big back-ups. i'll have another update and we'll take a look at the south bay temperature trend in three minutes. >> thanks, kari. coming up next on "today in
