it is january 28th. as we take a live look outside. see the clouds hovering over san francisco this morning. we'll check the full forecast in just moments. mike is back with a look at -- i almost said monday morning commute. >> i was watching the monday morning commute. from afar. thank you, kari. >> good morning,gaia. >> and i'm marcus washington. let's get a look at that forecast. >> we're watching rain to the north and that will move closer to the north bay as we go into the rest of the of this rain is apart and will bring much of the bay area some clouds today. any areas around san francisco on northward will have a chance of rain and then if you are to the east and south, most likely you won't see any rain today. so i'll be tracking this and

we'll talk about what is going to happen the rest of the week coming up and, mike, you are picking sides at the bay bridge. >> we have to pick left or right and toward the right approach which is farther backed up off the 880 things are fine but it is the cash lanes. off the left, just a few cars waiting and about four lanes that still have to open for cash. that is unusual for the number of closures we have there for the cash lanes. but the freeways with moving nicely, smooth drive around the bay. in the south bay, a crash at fremont and the activity still on the chp blotter but i'll keep it clear for now but keep watching things and stay in the south bay with the top story. today the city of gilroy marks sim months since the mass shooting at the gilroy garlic festival. >> when a gunman killed three people and injured a dozen others. the shooter died during the rapidsons by the officers.

today the d.a. is offering a new center dedicated to supporters. the gilroy strong resiliency center is open on tuesday and thursday. "today in the bay's" kris sanchez will have a live report ahead on the center at 5:30. last night the san jose sharks honored the first responders and wore black gilroy strong jerseys during the shoot-around. they defeated animaheim 4-2. and now the death of kobe bryant still reverberating. the game tonight has been postponed. >> and they will be back at the crash scene today. and jennifer bjorkland has more details from los angeles. >> kobe -- >> reporter: l.a. awash in purple and gold to honor a son

the assembly. a proposal from facebook to build a community center and library. facebook unveiled plans in october. that new center would be in belle haven next to one of facebook's many office buildings. city staffers are working on a potential timeline for the project and how to involve the community. a vote will happen later today. happening tonight, cal train is hosting a town hall in palo alto ahead of the work being done as part of the ongoing electrification project. they hope to have the entire line electrified by 2022. over the next few months crews in palo alto will complete foundation work and grade separation. tonight's meeting takes place at the library. new concerns from across the globe over the spread deadly coronavirus. next here on "today in the bay," the first u.s. tech company to restrict travel e growing outbr plus a cyber threat from

october and today reports on home prices and durable goods and consumer confidence and a federal reserve begins a two-day meeting. facebook the first major u.s. tech company to begin restricting travel to china amid the coronavirus outbreak. facebook is halting all nonessential travel and told employees who recently returned from china to work from home. although the facebook app is banned in china, the company does have office there and used supplies to make the oculus headset and portable devices. and apple has asked suppliers to make 10% more iphones this year and they have orders for up to 65 million of the older iphones and mostly 11 and up to 15 million the lower price model it plans to unveil in march. reports say that suppliers are warning the increase in production could be complicated by the coronavirus outbreak given the main manufacturing center is close to the epicenter wuhan. apple reports earnings this

rosa and in napa. 51 in concord. san jose walking out the door to 50 degrees and also 50 in palo alto. now as we check out our view in dublin we're going to see a milder morning with some mid to upper 40s. and a lot of clouds going throughout today. some peeks of sunshine. we could see had a by noon we're at 55 degrees and then as we check out our high temperatures, heading up to 62 in san jose and mid-60s for morgan hill. nice warm afternoon. now we'll just see a mix of sun and clouds for the east bay and walnut creek reapi-- reaching 6 degrees and redwood city reaching 60 and mission district reaching 58 and the north bay up to 5in sonoma. and this is where where we'll see the spotty showers moving through. this system continues to weaken as it moves closer and it is kind of bumping up against dry air so it looks like rain will continue to dry up as it moves in going into the day as we look

hour-by-hour. it does show rain at about 9:30 from santa rosa up toward ukiah. and there will be a slight chance of rain along the coast and in san francisco. possibly along coastal peninsula areas but then the rest of the bay area misses out on the rain and through the rest of the forecast with dry weather. if you are planning to head to miami, i want to give you a heads up about the forecast. it is going to be perfect at kickoff for the super bowl. they are looking at temperatures in the low 70ss and here it will be in the upper 60s with sunshine. so not too much of a difference there. we're going to go through the rest of the week with a mostly sunny sky and well above normal temperatures. mike, you're seeing a pleasant drive. >> thasorsll around the y. we don't have a big problem out of the oolt -- altamont off the verge with 205. in contra costa county, great speeds at 680 and i mean you

another live look through palo alto on the peninsula and easy drive. 101 sparsely populated so san jose into san francisco, no details for 101 and 280. >> thank you, mike. a recent cyber attack in contra costa county makes people wonder if the upcoming elections will be safe. last month the attack targeted contra costa libraries as hackers demanded money and the library didn't pay leaving computers and printers out of service. it is leaving some if local elections will be protected from hackers. the county elections department employees are trained to be on the lookout for malicious emails because the department has already been a target. >> the two incidents that directly affected us, the source of the emails, the threat was from nation states, other countries. all of the countries -- >> russia -- >> yeah. and iran.

a live look car. for the most part. for this morning. >> it does look clear though, right. >> see all of the lights all glitter. welcome back to "today in the bay." well this morning nbc bay area responds to a sunnyvale viewer whose spill on a scooter led to a medical billing battle. consumer investigator rolled in to diagnose that problem. >> over the summer charles shaw was riding his scooter and crashed and took an ambulance to the hospital. he paid a $277 copay for the ride but later the ambulance company sent him a bill for more than $2,300. and he couldn't get help. we messaged both the ambulance and insurance companies about the double billing. neither offered an explanation
