marcus. there is still crime scene tape up where we are. you can see there are still plenty of officers here on scene and we know the victim has life threatening injuries and is at the hospital. the shooting was at 1:20 this morning a half mile from delmar high school. that is unrelated, we just give you the perspective. the man was shot in the face. police tell us he was shot in a vehicle. police are still looking for clues. the crime scene tape is surrounding the shopping center parking lot including the 6 station with a 7-eleven store, a cvs and a discount store. this will impactlowra this morning on leigh avenue between southwest expressway and rose way. the victim was apparently shot in the face, found in a vehicle, now suffering from life threatening injuries at a local ho say no suspects have been apprehended.

spreading and also as the demand to fly to china has gone down. they will reduce flights starting next month. we know delta will cut the flights in half from february to april. this is a trend we're starting to see with some airlines. now as far as the local impacts, cities and airports at sfo are keeping a close eye on it. we know berkeley is actually telling people to get the flu vaccine. the symptoms are similar to flu like when it comes to the virus. i want to show you some video from yesterday. this is an emergency landing in riverside. that plane was coming from wuhan, the epicenter of this virus.

imagine life without them. the lakers also released a statement saying in part the team is devastated. this comes with the next phase of the investigation into the helicopter crash. the debris from the crash is at a holding location in phoenix. there investigators will try to reconnect the aircraft to learn more about the tragic accident. in a few hours senators will start asking questions again in the impeachment trial. yesterday the lawmakers went eight hours straight. everyone is wondering if democrats will get any republicans to cross the line and allow for witnesses. democrats want to get former national security adviser john bolton to testify. but, a surprise move by the white house could silence him. the white house national security council says bolton's book contains classified information and cannot be published. bolton's lawyer is asking for a former national security adviser testifies. bolton reportedly writes he heard the president tied a bide

dive in his checks and balances segment. and nbc's coverage will include special reports throughout the day. this fall california will be more prepared for fire season. governor newsom says more than 30 wildfire safety projects are complete. these projects include the removal of dead trees and debris. calfireworks to create fuel breaks. the projects will keep evacuation routes open during the fire. four of those projects are in the bay area. and happening now southern california's strong winds have died down, but people in some neighborhoods still have a lot of cleanup. wind speeds reached 70 miles an hour in some locations taking down trees and power lines. the breezy conditions will linger for a few more days. we don't have that issue up here, so a little relief for us. that's right. to give you an idea those warnings have been downgraded to

advisories in southern california. i do have a map to showcase. the gusts were located through theri and thehe elevations. look at the wind speeds now. the gusts have significantly decreased since yesterday's wind event. 26 miles an hour tonight at around 11:00 p.m. at least the humidity is not doing too bad. we are seeing a good recovery in terms of humidity overnoit and we'll continue to see numbers above the 30% which is always good to see. as far as us here back home, we're also going to be warming up. we're going to see breezy conditions through the afternoon, but our temperatures will be comfortable. look at san jose, 66 degrees. 67 degrees in morgan hill. and in through the east bay warmer spots will climb up into the upper 60s. 69 degrees in pittsburg. danville, 69. nearing that 70-degree mark. right now it looks like friday may actually be our warmest day of the week. i'll have a closer look at exactly what we can expect in the afternoon. first a check of the roads with

this stock should again. if the premarket numbers hold up. tesla also says its model y, that's the smaller crossover suv, should be available for sale before april. tesla often makes promises it can't keep. that's really soon. things have been going really well at tesla lately. "the new york times" reports lyft will lay off about 90 employees in san francisco in marketing and sales as it tries to make a profit. those are the first job cuts at lyft since it went public. uber cut about 1,000 jobs after it first started trading. lyft says it's still on truack. movie pass was a membership you could pay a flat fiancee all the

anything like that planned for sunday, make sure it is safely secured on the ground with good stakes. monday, tuesday and wednesday we have a rise in temperatures heading into next wednesday. now let's send things over to mike. thursday morning, looking pretty good. the bay bridge toll plaza in the last five to seven minutes we saw a shift. everything started to clear out for all the lanes including the lanes off to the right where things were more backed up off the 880 overcrossing. in the last two or three minutes starting to build again. typically about 5:10 we were seeing the metering lights turned on. it's 5:19 now so they should be on with that restriction causing th bayackup to form gently a orinda exit has not proven to be a problem. no lanes are blocked so ease off on the warnings there. folks driving there to the caldecott and you will see activity to the right shoulder and let you know if chp has to close any lanes. they have closed this, not chp but san francisco of public

the video was the arsonist. in los angeles firefighters rescue helicopters hoisted more than a dozen people to safety during a scary high-rise fire that played out yesterday afternoon. eight people including a 3-month-old were rescued. they were injured in the fire which started on the sixth floor. one person is in critical condition. by this time next month we should know when lori loughlin will go to trial. prosecutors outlined a plan to hold a series of perhaps three trials grouping the defendants. it's possible they could play out in october depending on defense motions. the judge is supposed to set a trial date during a february 27 court hearing. greta thunberg is applying to trademark her name, posting people are using her name for commercial purposes without her consent. she says they are using her name

we have breaking n t you about on theouthwest side. police are investigating a shooting at a shopping center parking lot. a live look at the scene on leigh avenue near southwest expressway. a man found shot there some time after 1:00 this morning. police tell us that man has life threatening injuries. officers are not saying anything about the suspect or a motive. another report in the next half hour. southwest airlines under the microscope this morning. bombshell reports say southwest failed to make safety a priority. "today in the bay's" bob redell live this morning. we're talking about southwest airlines which flies out of all three bay area airports, bob. what else does this report reveal? >> reporter: the report also reveals that the feds, the faa has been lax, inconsistent and ineffective in its oversight of southwest airlines according to a draft audit put out by the

inspector director that was obtained by "the wall street journal." according to the journal's reporting the inspector general found that over a period of two years southwest flew more than 17 million passengers on airplanes with unconfirmed maintenance record. one smashed both wing tips while trying to land in gale force winds and the airline was never penalized for those alleged slip-ups. the journal reports the faa allowed southwest to, quote, fly aircraft with unresolved safety concerns and that a number of faa employees, quote, raised concerns about the culture at southwest. i will from that report. it is clear the agency isn't managing safety risks at the carrier, unquote. southwest airlines has characterized these kinds of criticisms as a difference of opinion between them and the

regulators. in an email to us the airline wrote in part, we have communicated our disappointment to the oig and will communicate any concerns directly with its office. our friends, our families board our aircraft and not a single one of us would put anything above their safety. reporting live here at oakland international, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> bob, thank you. new calls for reform in francisco. this week's explosive corruption scandal, matt haney is expected to demand action from the mayor's office and an independence investigation following yesterday's bombshell resignation by airport commissioner linda crayton citing health issues. but sources tell our investigative unit crayton is tied to public works director mohammed nuru. fbi agents arrested nuru on fraud charges. nuru is accused of embezzlement and lying to fbi investigators.

so far he's still on the city's payroll. haney wants now rue fired immediately and in an indecht look at the latest twist in the corruption scandal. with huge plans already in campus, the mercury news reports it's now a big push to redevelop diridon station. cal train and vta are leading the charge with the idea that tens of thousands of additional commuters could be using diridon in the coming decades. right now diridon station only has two tracks, cal train wants two more. one option would be to expand the existing rail corridor. the second is a new viaduct. it would probably cost double the amount. a follow-up in lafayette which apparently no longer has a wild pig problem.

5:56 on your thursday morning. developing now the fbi investigating a los angeles church accusing it of participating in human trafficking. federal agents raided the church and arrested them on immigration fraud charges. they tricked followers. the followers are now saying they would be beaten if they didn't make daily quotas. right now the fbi is looking into more than 80 sham marriages over two decades as the church raised $20 million. here at home hayward police doing their best to raise awareness about human trafficking from asia and latin america to the bay area.
