impeachment trial of president trump could be headed toward a quick finale. nbc white house correspondent kristen welker joins us with the three things to watch today. kristen, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you. the first big thing we're watching, the senate is gearing up for yet another marathon day here on capitol hill and it comes as republican sources tell nbc news they believe they have the votes to block witnesses. they expect democrats to fall one vote short of the four republican votes they would need. democrats aren't giving up. they're demanding to hear from former national security adviser john bolton who alleges in a new book the president told him he is withholding military aid to ukraine in exchange for investigating the bidens. the second big thing we're watching, the president's defense team rolling out new arguments during yesterday's q&a session. one of the big arguments that got a lot of attention, that if a president does something which he believes will help him get elected, that's not impeachable.
