4:38 am
area and a lot of people probably had to be evacuated if the homes are occupied, i imagine lot of people had to be evacuated in fear of the fire vedding because those homes are so close to each other. we're still trying to find out all of the details but we don't see a lot of the smoke thor the flames that we saw about eight minutes ago as the show first started but again you could see firefighters aggressively attacking this fire from all angles trying to get this fire under control. we'll stay on top of this story and bring you the latest information as soon as we get it to get a better hold of what is happening here in oakland. and coming up next on "today in the bay," at 4:38 this morning, a look at what is being done i con taping devices. and gas prices are dropping. what experts say is behind the dip. and a live look outside the bay bridge toll plaza this now monday morning. a different angle there for us. the flags billowing in the air.

and a good morning to you. beautiful shot to start the monday morning here. the bay bridge looking all lit up nice and said, hey, let's get this week started. >> and this is a monday thing. >> and get started we shall. >> and saturday was so nice outside and then when yesterday came, that wind. we were talking about it. but then when it actually hits, especially if tand trees down a we're we're still seeing. we have a wind advisory extended until 11:00 tomorrow morning. so all of the areas shaded in the yellow color will be under the wind advisory. it includes a lot of the hills with where we could see gusts
4:48 am
today up to 60 miles per hour. and we know that we had that message that came out from the national weather service from the sierra saying that kirkwood at elevation over 9,000 feet had a recorded wind gust of 209 miles per hour. now the record was 199 so we're seeing if it could smash that record and the reason i have question so that is something we'll be watching to see if that actually happens for today. and then into our day, we'll see the winds still picking up. here we are at 9:30. winds from napa to clear hake and 20 to 30 miles per hour and stronger as the day goes along. for this afternoon we may see 40 to 50-mile-per-hour gusts and then as we go into the rest of the day starting to calm down. so the morning commute, you is both hands on the steering wheel and still gusty winds and temperatures today reaching into the upper 60s in concord.

4:51 am
how the traffic has increased. as for the bay area footprint and more traffic flow, the increase over 10, 20, 60% increase by 2016 and we've doubled from back here in 2011. it took just five years for that volume to increase and double your delay and fromno the last averaging even longer delays, about two and a half times, 225, 250 for some of the hours as far as 250,000 hours of vehicle delay there. when you tell your relatives how traffic has been gone around here and you have numbers to back you up. it is not just a sob story. our traffic over the last five to ten years has doubled the amount of delay we're seeing bay area wide as far as numbers stuck in crawling traffic. that is real pain. >> and having worked this show for so long and this commute and you see it grow earlier and earlier every year. >> and that is one of the keys. is your timing. we'll talk about that tomorrow
