i'm proposing big reforms like term limits... ...a national referendum... ...and ending corporate money in politics. as president, i'll declare climate change an emergency on day 1. and, use those powers to finally address the climate crisis. and, i've spent 30 years building a successful international business. so, i can take on donald trump on the economy - and beat him. i'm tom steyer and i approve this message - because there is nothing more powerful than the unified voice of the american people.

6:48 am
that is exactly what the president wanted? is the president directing decisions at the department of justice? barr says no. the open letter criticizing the stone sentencing recommendation reads, a person should not be given special treatment in a criminal prosecution because they are a close ally of the president. governments that use the enormous power of law enforcement to punish their enemies and reward their allies are not constitutional republics. >> they're autocracies. the government is closed for the presidents' day holiday and the president in florida yesterday. we showed you the president doing a lap at daytona yesterday. well if something does happen today, even though the government is technically closed, we'll be tweeting about it. follow me @scott mcgrew. >> thanks, scott. well republican senator rand paul will be in san francisco tonight. the kentucky senator made headlines for bringing his party

covered by fog. there is a look at the bay bridge. it is nice start to the day but having to deal with low visibility in some spots. take a look at the golden gate bridge where you could see the fog. not covering the whole span but we are seeing it very low. only at about 200 to 300 feet off the surface the bay. so we're seeing low visibility. i know it just looks like a blank screen but this is our palo alto camera. and so unfortunately we have this to deal with for the start of the day. and you just want to slow it down even though it is a holiday and there may not be that many people out driving, as we go into the rest of the morning this will clear out and we'll warm up quite a bit. as we check out aum of our microclimates, all right. here we are at noon. we're wanting to take that lunch outside. it is 65 degrees in danville. the valley at about 64 degrees. in san francisco at 61. we'll warm up several more degrees with the valleys reaching the low 70s. look at 2:30 this afternoon,

rain in san francisco's forecast for sunday. as with we could see some of the showers moving in there as well as the north bay. mike, you were concerned about that early morning fog. >> yeah. surface streets. so as folks may not be commuting on the freeway, but definitely driving around town and we could barely see what is going on in fremont. this intersection critical, this is at mallory avenue and fremont boulevard you could barely see and can't see the crews working in the roadway right here. that person just drove right past them in the center. we have one lane blocked by crews continuing to work to repair the signal after it was taken out this morning. now looking at this map and that is the critical portion of fremont. right by the fremont hub. the plaza. the b.a.r.t. station is up here. so folks traveling from the area near 880 up to the b.a.r.t. station, you want to use stevenson because that is clear of any of the traffic control. a smoother drive. one you're used to getting up toward walnut. the freeway moving smoothly except for the san mateo bridge. i've seen the speed sensors
6:53 am
improve across the span. we had a crash blocking two of the three lanes and i was worried because folks couldn't see the slow drive as you approach the high-rise. still can't see great. but at least it looks like the speed sensors are improving i think they are cleared one more lane. we'll check on that. the bay area, the early stall has no back-up or no hallelujah at t -- no metering lights. >> happening now, general motors pulling out from down under. the company ceo is not selling enough vehicles in the markets. general motors has a long history in australia building cars under the holden brand for decades. well next a quick look at top stories including the bay area development in the coronavirus outbreak. two planes carrying americans arrive in the u.s. overnight. one plane in the bay area. ahead what is next for those evacuees which include people now infected with the virus.

putting term limits on congress, washington insiders went crazy. they said term limits are bad, that they'll break government. what a joke! congress is working fine for politicians and corporations, but it's not doing anything for real people on climate, health care or gun safety. the only way we get new ideas is electing new people, including a president willing to shake-up washington. i'm tom steyer and i approve this message.
