good morning, i'm solomon at cnbc headquarters with the top business headlines. wall street set to open lower as the markets continue to track developments with the coronavirus. ferd reports a large uptake in cases. and a sudden midday sell kwouf that saw the dow fall 400 points before recovery but on no major news. today report on existing home sales. a new report said that 200 million 5g phones could be shipped this year. but supply disruptions will cap how many of the phones are actually sold. strategy anna hittics expected that 15% the outbreak is restricting production in asia but the firm does expect that there will be a strong bounceback in the second half of the year if the spread of the virus is reduced.

and file this under strange but true. here is something that stinks. garlic prices are rising. the reason is the coronavirus outbreak causing supply discorruption in china which are the largest garlic produces in fact two-thirds of the fresh garlic that we import comes from china. retail prices are at the highest level in about two years. a sleeve of garlic costs an average of about it this month and that is up 29% from a year ago and prices for other agricultural commodities like soy beans and cotton have dropped because of expectations of lower chinese demand. so who knew we were getting so much garlic from china. >> although, here until the bay area, in gilroy we produce a lot of garlic. >> this is true. >> i think we're covered here. >> yet another thing i didn't .today. >> t garlic capital of the

as we take a look at our high temperatures today, expect morgan hill to reach 74 and 74 in east san jose. 75 in danville. oakland reaching 73 degrees. in half moon bay a comfortable 67 degrees and 70 in redwood city. san francisco rg 72 in the mission district and the north bay reaching 75. now i am seeing a few minor changes in our weather pattern here. a look at this swirl of clouds just off our coast and it will bring in light rain for areas to the south. looks like monterey and the highest chance of rain but a slight chance of a few spotty sprinkles overnight in the south bay as this low quickly moves off toward southern california and toward the east and also seeing storm systems to the north into next week. so you may be asking like a lot of us, where is the rain? well the jet stream is mostly been aligned to our north so areas like seattle have measured

almost eight inches of rain since january. so all of the rain was streamed across the pacific northwest while here in the bay area for the year we've only measured a little over .30 inch in san jose. and no more rain in the forecast except for a slight chance of some spotty light rain late tonight and into early tomorrow morning. the rest of the forecast, look at temperatures warming up by the end of next week and degree. mike, you've got that major crash on the peninsula. i do bayhaened overnight. with we still have three of five heading down toward third avenue there blocked by chp. the county coroner is on scene. one person died as a result of the crash and it sounds like the person had gotten out of the car, a good samaritan to help one of the people in the original crash. that is a tragedy there. someone trying to do good. chp emphasizing stay in the car
