in new hampshire joe biden came in fourth. it was a resounding victory in south carolina just this last saturday that shot him here into super tuesday. 14 states voting pulling offer a win in texas but also it's states like this minnesota. a large part of that was just yesterday when pete buttigieg and amy klobuchar both dropped out of the presidential race and backed joe biden appearing with him in dallas. and it was here in minnesota where joe biden pulled off one of those nine victories. amy klobuchar is just down the road and was talking with some of her campaign staff and said in large part they view this as a great pickup in what her endorsement meant to him when you now look at where this race is you see this is joe biden versus bernie sanders. and i want you to take a listen because in their speeches tonight the two of them, well, they squared up one another. >> we're going to beat trump

are shedding new light on why they voted and possibly what to expect going forward in this democratic primary nbc's david gura is in durham, north carolina to break it all down for us. david, you had a lot of insights after spending some time with the voters there what do they say >> reporter: yeah, francis, it was so interesting to square what we saw in exit polls. that's what i heard from voters here in north carolina leading up to super tuesday yesterday. something really fascinating is how many voters decided at last minute, in the last few days about a quarter of democratic voters picked their candidate in the days leading up to super tuesday and the majority of them decided to cast their votes for joe biden. but we also got some insight into the idea to propel these voters to the polls yesterday. there's this healthy debate in the democratic party btd main priority for them going into the primary and going into the general election as well and roughly 6 in 10 of those surveyed in that exit poll yesterday said their main priority is defeating donald trump. you look at how that shook out

between two leaders. the vast majority went for joe biden. he's the one think think can beat president trump in the general election it reverses itself on when you look at how prioritized or apprised changes in perspective or direction for the democratic party. about a third of those democratic voters say that's the main goal in the general election 45% of those who said that said that bernie sanders was their candidate. more insight into what joe biden has characterized as revolution versus results we'll see the primary play out as the primary contest continues. >> david, thank you. in tennessee zrengts there reeling from the second deadliest tornado in state history. the death and destruction just devastating there. there are scores of homes and businesses that were destroyed 25 people were killed. dozens more still unaccounted for or missing

wintry day, phillip, we have more reported cases here in south korea. not a huge surprise but it is another big number 532 new cases of coronavirus reported today 32 people in this country have died just 41 have fully recovered today we got an update from the commander of the base where the u.s. soldier and his wife who've both been infectroad recovering. he said on facebook that they were doing very, very well and the president here is asking for some $9.8 billion from the legislature here to help fight the virus and also deal with the financial impact, which has already been quite serious here. in china chinese-language media is reporting that that market where coronavirus is believed to have originated will begin to be disinfected today. that will take about three days as china reports a smaller rise in cases, only about 119 today in italy the opposite is happening. 79 people are now reported dead
