. we are tracking the latest developments in the coronavirus outbreak. dozens of cruise ship passengers, more than that, have been tested and results are just in. the white house said president trump will not travel to the cdc now in atlanta. said the president does not want to interfere with the agency's critical work. good morning. i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm marcus washington. so let's talk about that weather for today. a lot of people possibly want to get outside and joy the fresh air. >> but it is cooler air because we had a cold front move through and today our temperatures are at least 10 degrees lower than yesterday. so as we take a live look

outside in palo alto, few clouds overhead and more clouds throughout the day. the temperature trend doesn't go straight up like previously. kind of flat through the day with a slow warm-up headed our way. highs in the 60s today which is seasonable for march. so we'll talk about this. mike, you're hear being a crash in san jose. north 101 at tully. we don't see slowing for the last 10 minutes but there is a crash reported in this direction. it sounds like everything is moving off to the shoulder and no major injuries. looking at a smooth flow of traffic there. along the peninsula, the east bay is great. slowing like southbound highway 13. there are road crews there and reports with someone with a flat tire mid span from the richmond-san rafael bridge. and light rain. but if it is mid span, it is narrow and dark through the area. so we'll bring you the follow up

but no problems comes into the north bay. back to you. we begin with the latest on the coronavirus. test kits passengers on the cruise ship are being tested at a richmond lab. results are expected today. the 3,500 people on board that cruise "the grand princess" stopped from docking in san francisco. we know that at least 45 passengers with were being tested. this is video of the coast guard dropping off the test kits by helicopter and then the kits being dropped off at the richmond lab. here is a look at all of the bay area confirmed. schools are taking precautions. in san francisco, lowell high school is closed for four days. this comes after school leaders learned that the parent of a

student is being treated for coronavirus. in oakland, the monarch academy charter school is closed until monday. the teacher there might have the virus. you could check the bottom of your screen for the full list of school closings. more details now. overnight lockheed martin confirming a employee in sunnyvale tested positive for the coronavirus. it is not clear how the virus was contracted. the company said deep cleaning is now underway. lockheed isn't telling employees to work from home but some big bay area tech companies are. bob redell joins us live from the dublin b.a.r.t. station. friday light could be extra light this morning. >> reporter: here is one anecdote, my wife comes into dublin on b.a.r.t. and she noticed that the trains have thinned a little bit. it is possible they could become less crowded as people

telecommute. and facebook is scrapping all bay area events and telling worker to cancel all business travel. other companies have shut down offices in the bay area and mandating that employees don't come in and telecommute at all. in the south bay, the santa clara county health department is recommending sports teams cancel or postpone games to reduce the spread of the virus. in spied of the warning the san jose sharks played last night at sap center and they refunded anybody with second thoughts and said cleaned after even event and echoed the health department request that anyone sick should stay home. >> still going to continue to come to the games as long as they are happening. >> my husband surprised me with the tickets. i was hesitant but i said, you know what, it wouldn't stop.

ok! let's ride! oh heyjack combo!.ple bonus stack it up for an extra buck. here we go. to this friday morning. taking a live look at sfo this morning. going to go get a look at what to expect from the forecast today. it should be smooth sailing for the flights heading out today, right. >> yeah. we have a lot of changes in the forecast and more clouds move in. into the rest of the day, jackets on for a lot of people all day long. >> haven't used those in a while. >> got to find mine. >> so we're going to have more seasonable weather and at this point we're not used it. so starting out at 54 and concord at 54 and santa cruz at 53. the seven-day forecast is coming up on the bottom of the screen showing cooler air tomorrow and

sunday. as we check out for the morning commute in antioch, we'll be in the upper 40s and you could see the clouds. but sun peeking out today. here. to 59 degrees at 11:00 and and we're also going to see a high of 63 in livermore and in san jose. napa staying in the 50s. in the upper 50s in san francisco. as we got the update yesterday morning, we know that now 11% more of the state is currently in a drought due to all of the dry weather we've had recently. a moderate drought includes parts of the bay area from the peninsula toward the east bay and then much of the central valley. so that is something we're watching as we finally have some rain chances in the forecast as this cold front approaches bringing in the cooler air today. we could see the clouds that continue to move in. all of this ahead of the cold front that will bring in also more humidity. going into tomorrow, as that low moves closer, we're see sierra

snow. for the bay area the rain is light and spotty and going into sunday it dries out. another low approaches going into tuesday but now it looks like a lot of that rain will be focused just to our south. so the central coast, southern california, will have the best chance of rain. we'll see if this altogether skips the bay area and at least we're seeing some rain chances for the weekend. rain is very light. maybe up to a tenth of an inch for most of us. and then into next week higher rain chances. once again this model showing that the rain is focused on the south bay, the south county and on southward. so that is what we're watching as well as the sierra snow. over the weekend we could get to inches at south lake tahoe up to 8 inches in kingvale. more on that in a few minutes. but mike is looking at the bridges. let's start with the bay bridge toll plaza on friday

we're reassured because it is light traffic and bob redell was talking about the potential for lighter traffic which i think we've seen and maybe more folks are telecommuting if companies are advising that. a smooth flow through contra costa and then across the richmond-san rafael bridge a smooth drive and that earlier traffic has been cleared and that vehicle fixed the flat tire mid span is good worried about those crossing the span. and highway 29 one crash reported, a car that hit a tree and no reports on any major injuries and so just the note for highway 29 heading north through napa. meanwhile, the south and rest of the bay shows a nice drive. southbound 101 at tully, no slowing or problems. there was a motorcycle involved and it is over on the shoulder so i remind you about.potential, any time a motorcycle is on the shoulder, folks see what is

going on. and an easy drive on the water as well. under the high-rise, a beautiful view there and then the richmond to san rafael bridge, the traffic break has happened and cleared without any incident so we'll send it right back to you. out this video. a dangerous high-speed chase in southern california. for a long time the car's broken hood flipped up on to the windshield. sparks flew and the car hit spike strips. two suspects inside, they kept on firing at pursuing deputies. then in the end, the driver dodged cars on interstate 5 as he tried to get away deputies eventually shot at that suspect. no word on his condition. san francisco leaders are blasting a recent i.c.e. arrest made outside of the hall justice saying it violates a state law. agents arrest ared a man as he arrived at a courthouse for a legal hearing. the public defender said because

no judicial warrant was presented the arrest is illegal. i.c.e. agents made similar arrests outside of the sonoma county courthouse outraging rights groups. in the firing the anne kirkpatrick, she's firing back with a promise of legal action. anne kirkpatrick announced she obtained high-profile legal help and will sue over being fired without cause. the oakland police commission made up of civilians voted to fire her. she is not talking about her lawsuit or when it may be filed but yesterday she blasted the ongoing federal over sight. and now it appears the city of oakland is two chiefs darrin white is leaving his position and taking over as chief of the san rafael fire department as serving as oakland chief for less than three years. melinda dreyton is expected to take over as interim chief.

>> 4:50 and our "making it in the bay" focusing on the santa clara county. one the first 100% support of housing apartments will open. the grand opening will happen today at 10:00 this morning on second street in san jose. the north bay smart system you might say still shamarting over a big election day loss. now as a result of the vote, the agency is considering cuts to service and it is possible those cuts could take effect as soon as this summer. a pilot program will allow taxi drivers at l.a.x. to pick up passengers curbside. l.a.x. banned taxis and ride share outside of terminals in october. taxi drivers say that the rule has crippled their business. so during a three-month period, this is a trial period, l.a.x.
