right now at 4:30 a cruise ship under siege from the coronavirus. it's preparing to come ashore in the bay area. our team is tracking where it is right now and the evacuation plan in place. good morning to you. thanks for joining us. i'm marcus washington. >> i'm kris sanchez in for laura garcia. the developments in the coronavirus outbreak are changing by the hour. the latest on what you need to know today. >> the bay area has 64 confirmed coronavirus viruses. contra costa county and santa clara county announcing five new cases each. santa clara county has the most patients of any county with 37.

>> nationwide there are more than 500 cases. the death toll now has reached 22 people in the u.s. much more ahead with live team coverage, but first we also want to look outside in san francisco and san jose where it's clear right now. kari, you're tracking more rain again. it was so nice to see rain over the weekend. as we look at the radar only spotty light showers moving through. we'll have still a chance of rain today as this disturbance just to our south brings in more rain to parts of southern california. and for us we are going to see the rain chances increasing. as we go hour by hour we will see some rain spreading in. once again it will be spotty for the morning. we may have a better chance as we go into the afternoon into the evening hours as we start to see more rain spreading in later tonight. we'll talk about where we may see the most of the rainfall totals coming up and also what's ahead for the workweek. generic hazard report came

in. more detail as you see the green sensors all around the bay. over here san mateo southbound 101 approaching. reports of orange cones left over. nothing major. there may be a traffic break to clear them. 92 coming across the bay is just fine. a new incident reported on 880. we'll check that. i did mention 101. here is palo alto. you see how light the traffic is. back to you, marcus. thanks, mike. this morning all eyes in the world and right here in the u.s. watching that cruise ship carrying people who tested positive for the coronavirus as it continues to circle outside the san francisco bay. in just hours that ship will head to the port of oakland. this is where we're tracking the ship now about ten miles off the coast. and here is a map showing where the ship is set to arrive. some of those passengers on "the grand princess" have coronavirus, and some of the 3,000 passengers will face two weeks quarantine once they make it back here to land. katsuda live where they're planning for that arrival. sharon? >> reporter: the port authorities and local officials say they are ready to respond to the government's decision to let the cruise ship dock here at the port of oakland. the ship has been sitting off the coast for several days while the cdc tested those onboard, about 2 dozen people onboard, mostly crew members, tested positive. they will stay onboard and move to a different location. the other 2,000 or so plus passengers who did not test positive will disembark and be transported to different locations such as travis air force base and other states if they don't live in california. foreign travelers will be transported to oakland international airport and mayor libby schaaf and governor newsom say they've been advised passengers will only be on the tarmac, never in public space at the airport. >> the vice president himself individually working, we've had three conversations in the last 24 hours directly.

>> reporter: the passenger who needs medical help will come off first and a couple passengers who tested positive will be quarantined and treated at local hospitals. this process is expected to take three days at least, and local officials say the public should know they will not have to be in contact or exposed to these passengers. reporting live at the port of oakland, i'm sharon katsuda, "today in the bay." >> sharon, thank you. more details on how coronavirus is affecting schools. riordan high school in san francisco will be closed today for cleaning because a parent of a student tested positive for coronavirus. lowell high school in san francisco will also be closed. it's not clear when the school will reopen. the district is canceling all nonessential events at all schools until march 22nd including performances and sporting events. several schools are reopening through tomorrow. action primary plus and aspire

supervisors will meet tomorrow to vote on the county's first set of regulations for unincorporated areas. it would model rules already in place for cities like orinda including limits on days properties can be rented. property owners would have to receive county permits to legally operate. detectives in sunnyvale will hold a news conference later today to give it happened saturday near apple's campus. police say they found one man dead inside a car and a woman who was hurt. eventually investigators arrested a man in campbell they believe committed the crime. police say that it doesn't seem like the man knew the two people shot. well, our coronavirus coverage continues for you. it is 4:36. are you ordering more stuff online so you don't have to go to the store? all new for you this morning, the steps amazon is taking to prevent the warehouse employees from coming in contact with

temperatures in the 40s. we will have a mild day but also some rain in the mix. we'll talk about that and the full micro climate forecast coming up in a few minutes. a clear view across the san mateo bridge. we talked about the cones which really don't seem to be a problem for 101 through san mateo. more details on the crash just off 880, a problem as you're getting on to 880 for the east bay. good morning. i'm rahel solomon at cnbc headquarters and here are today's top business headlines. wall street is set to open in the red as investors continue to brace for the economic fallout from the coronavirus outbreak. dow futures pointing to an opening drop of about 1,300 points. oil prices are also plunging more than 20% as concerns of a price war between saudi arabia and russia really add to investor anxiety. amazon is relaxing its attendance policy for warehouse workers amid the coronavirus outbreak.

the company informed employees sunday it willime off for the mf march nor will itle to come to . the notice comes one week after amazon told employees in seattle and the san francisco bay area offices to work from home if they can. that update coming up after an employee who works in one of the seattle offices tested positive for coronavirus. and the federal aviation administration has formally rejected boeing's proposal to remove wiring bundles in its air max. the bundles do not pose a potential safety threat but the faa has told the company the bundles are not compliant. the faa is raising questions about the potential for the bundles to short circuit which in some cases could lead to pilots losing control of the plane. two crashes, of course, killed 346 people on those flights.

good morning. >> good morning, marcus. >> good morning to you, too, kris. and we're here. we're all here this morning on this monday morning. this is how we like to start the morning with a good hello and a look at san francisco. >> and eagerness at 4:47. that's something. it's like we done lose an hour of sleep. >> i think we're wired right now. we're going to be crashing and taking that nap later on this morning for sure. it's going to be nice because we've seen the rain over the weekend. we measured quite a bit of it in some spots and now as we get started our temperatures are going to be warming up. a little bit warmer than yesterday, reaching 67 in san jose and in santa rosa. 65 in livermore. the seven-day forecast is already up at the bottom of the screen as we check out our highs for today and see what's happening on the radar. right now it's fairly quiet. a few spotty, light showers left behind. we can still see the center of

the storm well off the coast just to our south and west. that will be pushing some rain in as we go into today. now this will be more of a rainmaker, will measure up to quite a bit more for parts of southern california. we'll see spotty rain, most near the coast and a better chance of showers moving into the south bay and the south county. look at how much rain we could see across areas like l.a. and over to palm springs. theo the bay area the lesser amounts of rain we'll see up to a tenth of an inch between now and wednesday when that system moves through. for the sierra very light snow. look at all the snow being picked up on the computer models possibly three feet of snow in some of our upper elevations. we're seeing a change in our

weather pattern here that looks quite a bit wetter after this system moves on. there will be another one dropping in for the weekend that will bring the bay area rain as well as that sierra snow. a look at how our week shapes up. we'll see hour temperatures warming up even as the showers move through for much of the south bay. and then warming up and drying out midweek. green sensors are great. the crash, we did talk about that just off the nimitz. it's a problem coming off the castro valley. there's also construction that had that ramp closed just before 4:00. they were supposed to clear that. took a few minutes extra. now in that backup that forms approaching the crash just shy of the 880 we do have the construction crews which are still likely clearing up the roadside efforts as well. just be prepared. getting out to our waze system, that's the way to work around it, waze will help navigate if

spent 40 days inside her apartment since the government closed the school where she has been teaching. she's living more than 900 miles from the epicenter of the deadly coronavirus outbreak but still china is taking major precautions to prevent the spread. trains, planes and even taxis have been halted. the time inside is starting to get to her. the highlight of her day is taking out the trash when she gets 60 seconds outside. >> i'm not allowed to go outside of my apartment every day. so when this started they gave me a little voucher, so i have it right here, this little voucher. a stamp card. every time i exit my apartment they check it. >> she says pretty much the only place she can go is to the market because it's the only place that's open. she planned 20-to-stay in china longer but is ready to come back as soon as china will allow it. more details now, the fate of the coachella music festival is still up in the air. riverside county declared a

public health emergency when it got its first con tirmd case. organizers have not made any announcements so far. the festival is set to go on. on friday south by southwest, a major music festival in austin was canceled. as l.a. awaits to learn if she'll win a third term, a heated exchange involving her husband -- this was ahead of last week's primary -- may have turned off some voters. >> good morning. >> get off of my porch. i will shoot you. >> protesters filmed this exchange. her husband pulled the gun as protesters stood outside their home. he was not arrested. the "l.a. times" has now talked to some voters who say the incident made them rethink their vote. lacy is sitting under the simple majority needed for a run-off.

"the regal princess cruise" was scheduled to dock sunday morning. the plans were put on hold

because a couple of crew members might have been exposed to coronavirus. the cdc says the two may have been exposed while previously on "the grand princess" ship.

good morning. brian lives in l.a. but found a good price on a new hyundai elantra at south county hyundai in gilroy. the savings were worth brokering the deal long distance. so he signed a contract and wired a cash payment, about $18,000. a few days later the dealer called to say hackers had gotten into their computer system and tricked the sales manager into giving brian the wrong wire address. bottom line hackers got
