"today in the bay's" kris sanchez joins us from her home as well this morning to talk about some of the demands they hope to make today. good morning, kris. >> reporter: well, good morning to you, laura. nice to see you working from home. it's definitely an interesting experience. i will say if you are expecting a food delivery service drop-off today it's probably not going to come when you expect it. a lot of instacart workers say they are willing to walk off the job, as many as 200,000 of them. the employees say they want more personal protective equipment. they want a $5 per order hazard fee and a default tip of 10%. instacart says it's distributing ppe to full service workers and launching a new tip setting. we'll see if that staves offri. amazon announced it is ordering millions of is

the dow had its best week since 1938 but is on pace for its worst month since 1998. significant in a and humana will waive costs on treatments including hospital stays and ambulance transfers for insured members and employer plans. the waiver applies to any fda-approved medications and vaccines when they become available. humana and significant in a wl bills. lyft is referring drivers to jobs at amazon aimed at reducing financial hardships from a massive drop in ridership. lyft started notifying drivers of the program on friday and encouraging them to apply to roles in amazon warehouses, grocery and package delivery platforms. lyft doesn't currently deliver meals or groceries but announced last week it would start delivering medical supplies, test kits and meals to the kari, back over to you. thank you, kate. we're starting out with a live look outside in walnut creek where temperatures will be mild today. and we will keep the rain away at least for this spot as our

taking a live look out in san francisco, dark and early for us but nice and clear. beautiful start to the morning. another beautiful start is all four of us together holding down the fort. >> we're trying to do it no matter where we're live from. kari has a look at the forecast. it does look nice outside. >> we had a little bit of rain over the week, not as much as we needed, but now that storm system is moving out. some clouds and we will see that rain holding off for today. our temperatures will reach into the mid-60s this afternoon so we'll be warmer reaching 65. 57 in ukiah. san francisco reaching 60 degrees. a look at what's coming in from the north. we're seeing some rain, even up as it moves into the bay area, this will mostly affect the north bay. the rest of us won't get much of

those showers. as we go hour by hour we see that rain around ukiah, santa rosa, staying north of napa for the most part then going into this afternoon. we will keep the mild weather, a few passing clouds but not a lot of rain out of this system which is, of course, what we need at this point. so all the areas getting some rain will be north of the golden gate bridge and will be up to a quarter of an inch for spots like ukiah. our seven-day forecast dries it out for the rest of the bay area with highs reaching into the mid-60s. upper 60s tomorrow. we do have a really nice week ahead. in fact, we'll reach into the e. this weekend the rain comes back, so that, of course, may keep people inside once again as we are looking at another approaching storm system that will bring in some scattered showers as well as cooler temperatures. in san francisco today breezy, highs up to 60 degrees. some mid-60s by the end of the week. so once again showers back in the forecast for

but, mike, as drivers head out this morning for that essential work we are not going to see a whole lot going on here which is good news. >> that is good news, kari. we have folks who are able to drive at higher speeds and when we have higher speeds and wet roads not good. so right now we're talking transit first with less folks out there we have much less traffic flow on the mass transit systems as well. they've further reduced the system for b.a.r.t. muni has suspended their subway service, so buses only. boarding from the rear of the bus only. and vta continues and further reduced their service as well. a live look out there. a flow of traffic through san rafael. a smooth drive. no major problems. we're looking at oakland, taillights, of course. and the south bay toward us.

passing into the 680/280 interchange without a problem. los angeles mayor eric garcetti is warning of more possible cases there and is seek medical treatment. researchers at cal state northridge have introduced a new coronavirus mapping tool tracking l.a. county cases by neighborhood which is now more than 2,000. l.a. county does allow the release of a pash's specific location. garcetti is encouraging everyone to continue their home isolation as teams crunch the data on how successful it's been. >> we know that slowing the spread will take time to see and it will be a week or two before we see the impact.

>> they plan to use the l.a. convention center as a federal field hospital. teams are also in the process of opening up five new shelters to help keep the homeless off the streets. patients are onboard a navy hospital docked in los angeles. "mercy" opened doors on sunday and is not have the coronavirus. the goal is to help free up space in local hospitals for patients with the virus. the ship docked friday and has 1,000 beds. more than 800 navy medical personnel andd. 4:49 for you. this has been a big question during the shelter at home order. are guns and ammo stores essential businesses? it appears the legal system will have the final say on that. this after gun rights groups including the nra files suit in central california against gavin newsom and other state leaders. the governor determined they

were not essential and ordered them to close for the duration of the stay-at-home order. the nra argue that is violates the second amendment. many restaurant owners in california are worried they won't be able to reopen or stay open after the shelter at home order is lifted. in a letter to the governor the california restaurant association says nearly 30% of businesses could go under permanently without help from the state. the association is asking the governor to delay planned minimum w flowers heading to the dumpster. instead, the trio took the supplies and they made bouquets for 50 hospital workers in sant.

welcome back, everyone. it's 4:55 right now. nbc bay area responds to a south bay man's delivery problem. he asked consumer investigator chris chmura and his team to deliver. >> reporter: good morning. ed works for a south bay school district. he was waiting for u.p.s. to deliver two industrial sanitizers, these right here. they're worth about $7,500 apiece. ed says he tracked the shipment from georgia to san jose. so it made it from here to here, but the problem is the shipment never got on to a delivery truck. the sanitizers just sat, be stalled for three days. when ed couldn't get a straight answer from u.p.s. he contacted us. we contacted the company's headquarters in atlanta. a rep responded right away. u.p.s. then delivered the sanitizers to the school

district. we asked what caused the holdup. u.p.s. didn't respond, though. its website says it is open for business but does indicate a caveat that might apply if you're shipping something right now. it says u.p.s. is maintaining delivery services except where limited by government restrictions. so until the
