skype this morning. coming up, we will talk about what they are talking about in washington as far as the coronavirus goes, and we will have that coming up. 6:37 for you this morning. we have big changes to get used to for the bay area-wide shelter-at-home orders, and also the debate on who should be wearing the masks. kris sanchez is at home. >> it was just about 24 hours ago that those new orders went into effect and what you don't know could cost you because at this point law enforcement says they might be moving from the education phase into the enforcement phase. dog parks, playgrounds and sports fields are off limits unless you are playing with members of your own household. essential businesses have to come up with formal distancing policies, and you will see them the next time you go to the

grocery store or costco or picking ip your takeout order. people who are now complying are now ready to report people who are not. >> yeah, if it was a blatant threat to somebody, absolutely i think i would. you know, we have to watch out. my elderly parents live here. >> now, the l.a. mayor is now suggesting everybody who lives in his city goes outwearing a mask, but to stress he is talking about the nonmedical grade kind. a simple surgical mask, a fabric mask or scarf is okay, because the idea is to keep a person that is asymptomatic from spreading it through droplets when they go out in the community, and perhaps it's more to keep us from touching our faces, our nose, mouth and eyes, because that's how the virus gets into our bodies.

however in his latest address, governor gavin newsom said masks might be helpful to prevent the spread but nowhere more helpful than sheltering at home, which is what we are supposed to do, creating that social distancing so we can't spread that virus. >> so true. you have to make it very careful as you head out the door. i wore a mask yesterday. nice and sunshiny yesterday, but cooler, i notice. are we trending downward in our temperatures, kari? >> today we will be breezy, and i think that breeze is bringing a cool ocean air into the inland areas. it did drop some parts of the bay area, and we are starting out with our walnut creek temperature trend that will be in the lower 40s this morning, and we are reaching in the upper 60s and 70s by the afternoon.

we will look at the weekend rain and a big drop in temperatures, and that's coming up. first, we have mike with the commute for those essential workers. what you need is clear roadways, and so far so good for the freeways for the most part. the bay shows green sensors all around the bay area, folks. ac transit, we have a possible issue there foreperson tphel. ac transit says they have a driver that was tested positive for covid-19, and we believe it's the first to affect that agency, and so that may mean changes but right now they are staying on the modified sunday schedule they announced on tuesday. we will keep you posted on that. getting back to the maps, no major issues. the bridges are not a problem. north bay we have a crash at6:4.
