thank you very much, vianey. it is 5:43 right now and new this morning a teenager is dead after plunging his car into a contra costa county canal. the fire department says when they arrived the car was upside-down and fully submerged in the water. crews pulled the 19-year-old but sadly he didn't make it. he had just left a party before that crash. well, take a look at this here new for you that morning, a water main break on the peninsula. this is a line that broke already 2:30 this morning at the intersection of chapman avenue and georgia avenue in san bruno. you can see that water gushing right next to homes and police are advising people if that is a route you would take, avoid that area. a bankruptcy judge has

agreed to allow pg&e to dip into the wildfire victim fund to pay for their administrative fees. the judge ruled yesterday that pg&e can take $19 million out of the $13 billion fund. the fires burned through northern california due to pg&e's decaying electrical grid. pg&e has to pay an extra $2 million in fees. a step forward this morning in a plan to officially close the jail at san francisco's hall of justice. >> today i am introducing legislation to close county jail number four within six months. >> now that is video posted by sandra, the seventh floor jail is in serious disrepair needing upgrades.

the theodore roosevelt air carrier where one crew member actually died on monday. the second crew member has been moved to the icu suffering from shortness of breath. the former commanding officer was dismissed after his call for help became public. more than 100 staff members have been removed from the "mercy" ship. this comes after seven workers tested positive. all seven are off the ship and in quarantine. learning you've been diagnosed with covid-19 has to be really devastating news but emergency learning that you are infected and you are 100 miles from your home. that's what happened to one man who is joining us now to talk about that experience and his recovery.

tell us what happened. you were visiting friends? where were and i woke up the next day and i got hit with all possible symptoms that you could think of. >> what did you do? oh, my gosh, i must have covid-19? >> i suspected it but i knew something felt really different like with high fever, not able to walk, my balance was off, shortness of breath. i definitely had to go to the hospital. >> wow, so you were treated at a hospital down there? >> i was. but not for a few days. >> what did it feel like? you said you couldn't walk? >> say that one more time? >> what did it feel like?

>> not being able to taste or smell anything, not being able to walk or think properly. it's a very scary experience, all the symptoms are very severe. everything i heard, some seemed pretty mild. i think i got the worst of it. >> oh, my goodness. you spoke to our affiliate in palm springs as well while you were sti isolation. let's listen to what you said then. >> i had a fever of 106. i was dizzy. i couldn't walk. i had shortness of breath. i knew i had to get to the hospital. wow. talk to us about what that was like being so far away from your own home. >> it was pretty tough. i knew just my friends down there.

it's kind of scary to think you could be so sick and have no one around you, no support, no one to come visit. in a negative pressure room with no contact. people could see me through the window or anything. it's very nerve-racking and terrifying. >> but you're doing much better now. >> i am, i am. i'm getting stronger and ready to go back to the hospital to work. >> okay, because you work at one. no more hospital visits for you. stay healthy and thanks so much for sharing your story with us. we wish you the best, craig. >> thank you, laura. something good this morning, a photo quickly gaining

daytime highs. micro climate highs, your predicted highs, 80 degrees in san jose, 75 for oakland. palo alto also topping into the 80s. and in the city we're going to be at about 68 degrees. normally around this time of year we're still in the 60s, so we're about ten degrees in some areas above normal. now let's get right to the next seven days. i want to break down what's happening. today is wednesday, thursday into friday we'll keep that dry weather pattern and we're going to remain fairly warm but by friday and saturday we start to see a change in the forecast. temperatures begin to cool down and we have an approaching weather system expected to make its arrival late sunday night bringing the chance of a couple showers not just for us but also the southern california areas. if you have family down there, they might be tracking more rain in the forecast. that's going to cool us down significantly for most of the bay area. today we're in the 80s, by tomorrow we'll drop down five degrees, ten degrees and into the 60s in the next workweek.

mike, how is the new normal? we're adjusting, vianey, and that's what some folks are doing in creative ysantsy out there. a picture we got from danny and billy. they have a fort they made in their living room. they made a fort. they're young folks, the pictures in the engagement photos on the wall, they're adults technically. look what billy has. he went golfing. he set up a mini golf course in their hallway using an afghan to keep the ball from getting away. that was billy time. danny needed some time so he said if she wants to go camping we'll set up the tent. they did that in the living room. you see a nice seat with coffee and a nice sun rise or sunset from the window and in the background you see the beautiful campfire. thank you for sending us pictures of that. if you have new ways you're adjusting or just some interesting stuff, we can all use a little something to lighten our ways.

well, a big announcement for you from the dmv this week. it's extending the expiration date for licenses, those drivers licenses, during the covid-19 pandemic. >> consumer investigator chris chmura shows us what you need to know. >> reporter: good he dmv just s. licenses for drivers younger than 70 that expire between march and may 2020 are now valid through may 31st, 2020. if you're older than 70 the dmv already extended you for four months. professional drivers are getting a break, too. all commercial drivers licenses, endorsements and certificates expiring between march and june are now valid through june 30th. so what do you have to do? nothing. the dmv says the extensions require no individual action and that's great but here's the thing. the dmv says you won't get a new
