headquarters. here are today's top business headlines. wall street looks set to higher open as stocks look to rebound from two days of steep losses. the markets may be getting a partial boost from the senate passing a second small business relief package. stocks slumping yesterday with the dow falling about 630 points. that was fueled by the continued collapse in oil prices as demand has really dropped dramatically, another sign of the economic carnage caused by the coronavirus pandemic. the june contract for u.s. oil futures plunging 43% to below $12 a barrel. the may contract, which expired yesterday, that did manage to close back above zero. peloton will resume live workout classes today streaming from instructors' homes, a format members were asking for through cities and states began shutting down nonessential businesses last month. users can expect two to three live classes per day offering cycling, running, strength training and yoga. peloton only shut down its studios on april 3rd and that was after an employee tested

that doesn't mean no traffic. that's why we want to make sure our essential workers are getting out there. we're talking about pollution, dramatically different numbers. kari will talk to you about those numbers but i want to show you that tweet from the bay area district. kari will outline in more detail coming up. now the first line, though, says that these numbers they're reading for pollution suggest a drop in traffic, but we don't have to just suggest it because our partners at waze actually havehe change in traffic volume. they meter traffic and register it on surface streets all over as well as highways and waze says, yes, there's also a corresponding drop of about 70%. i wanted that confirmation because we don't care necessarily so much about the number of cars that are driving. we care about how many pollution producing miles they're driving around the bay. that number will be critical to kari's report coming up. i do want to slip in one more issue with traffic that's going on right now, and this is a

vehicle -- a tanker truck. 35,000 pounds of ethanol in that tanker truck. no leaks reported, but that truck is on the shoulder. and you see the flares there as well. kari, while we're talking about earth day and pollution, flares and smoke but no fire. that's the good news. what do you have for earth day? well, here's a live look outside in dublin you're talking about heading over to sunol. at least here in this spot we're looking good and our weather is also very clear. we've had some cool temperatures to start. we're going to talk more about that commute in just a second. i wanted to give you your forecast first off, looking at it temperatures that will start out in the upper 40s and lead into the mid-60s by early this afternoon. it continues to go up from there. and we're looking at all clear dry weather, high pressure building, and no storms heading our way. we will see an increase in cloud cover as the storm system to the north starts to move in as we go to the end of the week and to the weekend. still all dry, warm

temperatures. we have this high pressure building, and that will lead to temperatures that will be about ten degrees above normal going into the next several days. and so no rain in this forecast over the next several days. we're looking at highs reaching up to 82 degrees today. more 80s in the forecast. if you like the warm weather, it continues for a while. we're going to see those highs reaching into the 60s over the next few days. as we talk about the carbon dioxide and my carbon footprint for my household, we normally use about 52 tons of carbon dioxide a year. that's what we're putting out there. since we've all been staying at home right now the impact is at about 30 tons per year. now if we were to continue this on looking at the whole bay area, nbc bay area weather team, jeff is saving the most right now putting 24 less tons of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere a year.

from southern california. a santa monica hospital is reinstating ten nurses suspended for refusing to work without full protective gear. the union says the nurses were not given proper medical grade masks and then demanded them after one tested positive -- the hospital is saying it only has enough masks to equip any member caring for coronavirus patients. people can go outside while still social distancing. yesterday the city started opening some of the neighborhood parks that were closed but social distancing is still being enforced. beach openings may happen within the next few weeks. let's check out this next video because we have something good for you this morning, right, laura? >> we love something good. the monterey bay aquarium, they're keeping themselves busy, even though there aren't any visitors. check out their new hobby there.
