>> welcome back from the weekend. >> the weather was great this weekend. will it carry over to today, kari? it will continue today, tomorrow as well, but then after that it gets really hot across the bay area. we're starting out with some cool temperatures this morning now down to 40 degrees in napa and in santa rosa. some low 40s in the tri-valley south county. as we go through the day it's going to be another beautiful afternoon with sunshine and mild temperatures. we're reaching up to 80 degrees in antioch while the coastal areas will be in the mid-60s. we'll talk more about this and that end of the week heatup that's coming up in the full micro climate forecast. >> thank you very much, kari. thousands of people will be going back to work as stay-at-home orders are lifted. a lot of changes to roll through

here so let's break them down starting with sharon katsuda this morning. so the changes are a little bit limited, sharon, and we just can't let our guard down just yet. >> reporter: absolutely not, laura. and here is why. there's a lot of different rules for bay area counties and it's best for you to check your county where you live, but here is the gist for most counties in the bay area. construction will be allowed if social distancing rules are in place, real estate transactions also with new rules in place, nurseries, landscaping allowed with social distancing and some daycares and summer camps limited to 12 children with social distancing. as for the construction site, getting them back up and running ittle more complicated. inside some of san francisco's premiere office towers managers have been organizing how crews will work under modified covid-19 prevention conditions. along with construction realtors are having to follow new rules to show a home.

>> how you queue up to get into the buildings, elevators. you can only get three or four people in an elevator to practice social distancing. there will be challenges around that. >> the mandate is we can show a home virtually and if it's not feasible we can do in-person showings provided one agent only is allowed to enter a house with up to two people from the same sheltering household. >> reporter: among other businesses that will be allowed to reopen car washes, gyms will remain closed, playgrounds are still off limits and you can't schedule any play dates for your kids even though some daycares are opening in a limited capacity and don't rush off for date night because you still won't be able to be seated at a table. you can still do takeout and as far as gathering, no mixing of the family still. i'm sharon katsuda. back to you. >> thanks for the latest there, sharon.

4:33. new details, two-counties plan to join modoc county in defying the shelter at home order. yuba and sutter plan to offer nonessential businesses to reopen while modoc county has fewer residents, these two-counties are higher populations. so far three coronavirus deaths reported in those two-counties. governor newsom is expected to provide more clarity this week on the state time line for reopening. for the most part this weekend authorities in orange county made sure people follow governor newsom's order but at least one popular eatery is now throwing the rules aside. diners packed nomad canteen after the owner took matters into his own hands saying his staff of about 25 need to work, so they're willing to take the risk in becoming infected. diners soaking up the sun had similar opinions.

>> it's a bigger fight than for my restaurant. it's for my people. >> i miss the interaction and seeing the smiles. >> feels extraordinary to be in a restaurant because it's been six weeks. >> orange county beaches remain mostly quiet over the weekend in large part due to the huge police presence that turned away thousands of visitors up and down the coastline. and in the bay area anyone looking for outdoor recreation in san mateo county must now stick to a ten-mile radius from their home this is video of a beach in pacifica over the weekend before county leaders said people can only be there if they live within five miles of the beach. starting today police will enforce the ten-mile radius rule. you can still enter san mateo county for essential travel or if you are an essential worker. happening today more test sites will be opening up in silicon valley. the city of san jose is working

with google's sister company to open a site at the police athletic field on south 34th street. it will be open on mondays, wednesdays, and fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. up to 350 tests will be available on those days, available to anyone who is symptomatic according to state guidelines. a new test site will open in san rafael. on tuesday one opens in santa rosa and another in petaluma. this is all part of governor newsom's plan to add 80 new test sites across the state. meantime today is a big day in the treatment of the virus. 1.5 million vials of a drug that will be used to help treat the virus are set to ship out to hospitals across the country. last week foster city based gilead received emergency status for remdesivir.

the drug could help as many as 140,000 people recover. san francisco will test nursing home residents and staff. the testing is at the direction of mayor london breed. the first is to protect the most vulnerable population. 21 skilled nursing facilities in san francisco. testing begins at laguna hospital now. so more extensive face covering requirements are starting today specifically for the air travelers. joining oakland and san francisco airports requiring face coverings. also today recently announced mask requirements take effect for three u.s. airlines, jetblue, delta and united. the vta rolls out requirements. in the city's tenderloin things have gotten more dire.

they're planning to file a lawsuit. that suit is being led by uc hastings law school whose campus sits on the edge of the tender loin. they're demanding they clear sidewalks of people who gather and set up tents. too often they are overwhelming neighborhoods and the city is not doing enough to provide safe and sanitary shelters for the homeless in the pandemic. they are holding a virtual news conference this morning. 4:38 and returning to work. still ahead this morning on "today in the bay," the big issue state lawmakers are going to start tackling as many head back to the capital this week. plus, the nfl gearing up for an all new season. when the league is set to release a schedule. a lot more news ahead.

and china over beijing's handling of the coronavirus. stocks posted their second straight negative week after president trump threatened new tariffs on china. several reports on the labor market including how many people continue to file for unemployment and the april jobs report on friday could show the jobless rate rising to 16%, the highest since records began in 1948. credit card debt spiked as the pandemic spread across the country. a new survey finds that nearly half of adults or 120 million people have credit card debt up from 143% in early march. 128 million people or 23% have added to their debt as a direct result of the outbreak. 45% say they are stressed about their credit card debt. uber will soon require drivers and riders to wear a mask or face covering. the policy is expected to be part of the new plan. uber has detection technology to

now. we're starting out with some low 40s in parts of the north bay, some of our inland valleys have a nice crisp, cool start. a really pleasant afternoon as we look at our temperature trend in martinez. we have some low 50s to start this morning. more sunshine today and a breezy wind. as we go to the noon hour, reaching into the low 70s continuing to warm up even more from there. as we look at our range in temperatures from the coastal to the inland valleys we'll see it anywhere from the mid-60s along the coast to the upper 70s with a few spots hitting 80 degrees. as we look at our temperature trend at 1:00 we are seeing a temperature at 74. palo alto at 69. as we go into the afternoon a few of those spots hitting 80 degrees like fairfield and antioch. we are mostly staying in the 70s

today. i think we'll stay mostly clear. we're looking at intense high pressure here which gives us the clear skies but will help warm up our temperatures throughout the week. even though we've seen a lot of active weather for the pacific northwest, we are not going to see any of that today. we're looking at our temperatures through the week starting out in the mid-70s, upper 70s tomorrow. our valleys hitting 90 degrees on saturday. it's been cooling off significantly on sunday. we have a calm drive overall. veterans boulevard is technically highway 1 at 101. there's work that started yesterday. continuing overnight through tomorrow. that will continue to be an issue getting up to the golden

into an rv. in hours we're expected to find out more about a deadly confrontation between police and a man in san jose yesterday morning just blocks from the s.a.p. center. a man was stabbed in the middle of the street along the guadalupe river trail. investigators say when officers got to the scene the suspect tried to attack the officers. that's when three officers opened fire killing the man. the stabbing victim also died. the officers who fired their weapons were not hurt but were on paid administrative leave. new details in the case against derick almena. he may be released on bail as soon as today. jurors the first time around were deadlocked on whether or not to convict him in the fire that killed 36 people in 2016. his attorneys have argued he's
