>> reporter: we know now the chp thinks speed was a factor in the violent crash that shutdown 85 near cottle. chp is still taking measurements trying to figure out how the deadly crash played out. we know only one vehicle was involved and three men died here at the crash scene and a woman died later at the hospital and a driver was arrested on the suspicion of driving under the influence. there was a sixth person in the vehicle and that person is expected to survive. the chp says this is an expensive evidence field and we can certainly tell from where the officers are looking for evidence, it's a pretty broad area. we expect highway 85 will be closed until about 8:00 this morning. if this is your regular route and you are headed southbound you will be diverted off at cottle road and mike can work you around that as well.
