looking at clayton, at this beautiful sun rise, a great way to start out a friday morning knowing we'll have cooler temperatures today and we're seeing a clear sky. so if you're going to head out for a run in the north bay in santa rosa expect it to start out very cool with fog. watch out for that. we'll see that clearing out as we go to the morning and a slow rise in our temperatures as we go into today. we're up to 82 degrees today in livermore 88. warm in ukiah today but notice the difference in santa rosa as we reach 70 degrees there because of the fog that will be slow to clear and we'll see the fog near the coastline so that will keep the temperatures cooler in san francisco as well as half moon bay where we stay in the 60s today. as we look at what's coming our way we are getting ready for rain. yes, rain at the end of may. really unusual to see a storm especially this wet coming into the bay area.

starts out early tomorrow morning. here we are at 4:30. we see the scattered showers starting to move in. we'll also have a chance of a few thunderstorms especially in the north bay and the east bay and that's going to be during late morning into the afternoon, we could start to see some isolated storms popping up as well but once again in the same areas. now it's really once again unusual to see this but the dry air feeding into the thunderstorms will produce what we call elevated convection, elevated lightning as storms move in. we start to see the lightning develop and what happens higher up in the atmosphere, that dry air comes in but we also see strong winds descending from the storms and we could be watching 5:57 rightnow. out for that as we go into the growing tension is in hong tomorrow as the potential of kong is now spilling over even to the city's legislative those thunderstorms move in and thosehunderstorms council. that could produce dry lightning scuffles broke out as leaders as we call it with the lack of attempted to debate a bill making it illegal to insult or rain because we're not looking abuse the chinese national at a lot of rain here and anthem. rainfall totals up to about 0.3 in the higher spots.

developments from overnight and into this morning as well as what the president is saying. good morning, bob. >> reporter: good morning to you, laura. last night in a tweet president trump referred to the protesters as thugs, and then he wrote when the looting starts, the shooting starts. our own scott mcgrew will tell us how twitter responded coming up in a little bit. last night as you mentioned protesters made their way into the third precinct of the minneapolis police department, ignited several fires including the precinct itself. they targeted the building after george floyd died in police custody on monday. a police spokesman says the building was evacuated shortly after 10:00 p.m. local time. video shows a line of police cars breaking through a driveway fence and driving off amid people who were taunting and throwing things at the officers and their vehicles. no serious injuries reported last night. 500 members of the national guard have been deployed. the mayor of minneapolis says those soldiers are protecting critical infrastructure for citizens like banks, grocery

stores and pharmacies. earlier this morning state police arrested a cnn crew covering the protest for not obeying an order to clear the streets. >> just let us foe and we've got you. and this is the scene here playing out in minneapolis. this is part of the advanced police presence we saw come over the course of really minutes when the local police showed up at the fire department or with the fire department, i should say, on the building we showed you that was burning. this is among the state patrol unit that was advancing up the street scattering the protesters at that point for people to clear the area, and so we walked away -- i'm sorry? >> you're under arrest. >> okay. do you mind telling me why i'm under arrest, sir? why am i under arrest, sir? >> we're on the air with cnn.

stay-at-home order. the sheriff says the curve has been flattened and testing has verified infection rates are under control. supervisors are blasting this move. the board tweeting out, quote, while we acknowledge the community's frustration with the situation and a desire to return to some normalcy the sheriff's message has had the unfortunate effect of creating confusion in our community, end quote. santa rosa's police chief says mask requirements will be enforced within city limits. california schools are starting to learn what kind of requirements might be in place whenever they do return. in fact "the chronicle" has obtained a preliminary draft certainly outlining what could be in play this is from the superintendent's office. but the governor has not yet finalized it. take a look. some public guidelines times. everyone must keep six isolating groups of students all

follow shortly after that. masks are recommended but not required. while the weather may be cooling off a little, beaches may still be a popular destination this weekend. pacifica anticipating reopening its beach parking lots tomorrow and for now san mateo county will remain in effect. they are waiting for restrictions to be loosened to some degree today. beach parking on the nearby coastline are also expected to reopen. this as the weather is going to start cooling down. we could have used some beach parking lot open days earlier this week. yeah, just in time for the bad weather. not only are we talking about cool temperatures and fog but also the chance of some thunderstorms this weekend. so, okay, it's not the best beach weekend and all we're seeing right now is this fog as we take a live look outside in tiburon looking at the coastal areas where this fog may linger throughout today and that will

keep the temperatures cooler. let's head down to mountain view as we look at our temperature trend today. we're starting out with some low 60s but it doesn't warm up as fast. in fact, we'll be in the low 70s by early in the afternoon right at lunch time it will feel nice and comfortable, still some clouds floating by at times and we'll see our temperatures cooling down even for the inland east bay as we reach only up to 83 degrees but you compare that to the 100 degrees we hit yesterday in parts of the east bay. so we're going to have a big cooldown today while the coastal areas will stay in the low 60s, but there will still be some warm spots like ukiah where we head up to 88 degrees today. as we head over to you, vianey, you've been keeping an eye on the roads and any of that fog impacting the drive? you know, mainly along the bridges. chp did issue a fog advisory for the golden gate bridge. don't turn on your high beams. they will reflect off the fog
