83 degrees. we see the microclimate where we will be between 100 degrees from morgan hill over to livermore, antioch and concord all the way up to ukiah. all of this will be replaced by much more comfortable temperatures. i'll talk more about that coming up. mike, you've been watching the morning commute. what's going on right now? >> we have a little build going on, nothing major. may enjoy some of that time in the ac if you have that in your car. looking out to the roadways, green sensors all over the bay. i'm looking at 101 north where the arrow is. we expect to see early slowing there. i do see it starting to build a tad bit here. we should be slowing in 15 or 20 minutes as you come north through san jose and the bay bridge toll plaza. a mild build there. no surprises right now. back to you. >> thanks, mike. breaking overnight in the south bay, a busy night for san jose police investigating several crime scenes all during

the curfew hours. "today in the bay's" kris sanchez is live in downtown san jose to show us what happened early this morning. and, kris, police officers behind you, what is the scene like now? >> reporter: hi there, marcus. these are supposed to be quiet curfew hours, certainly trying to stem the protests and the looting and randallism. it was a very busy night in the city of san jose. i want to start with what is a very active scene right now near san jose state campus. witnesses told us this was a stabbing that started with a fight inside that 7-eleven store right off campus just before 1:00 this morning. in all we can confirm that four people were stabbed and one person did not survive. two men were found with stab wounds at the scene. one of them died later at the hospital. police say two other men got themselves to the hospital with nonlife threatening stab wounds. homicide investigators are still at that active scene. now another active investigation the shooting of a suspect by at

least one san jose police officer in the area of north 8th and east mission streets. we can confirm that there was a hit-and-run nearby, that police say is to the suspect shot by police here. we will continue to press for details. we will let you know as soon as we get them. but look at what else was happening during the curfew hours, the driver in that audi put on quite the sideshow as onlookers were setting off fireworks, riding bicycles frighteningly close to all of the action. this was near the protests at san jose city hall. officers arrest that had driver and several other people. now just a reminder san jose's curfew order is in effect at least until sunday. it starts at 8:30 in the evening and expires at 5:00 in the morning. the only exceptions are people who are essential workers who are headed to or from work. in san jose, kris sanchez, "today in the bay." thank you very much, kris. most curfews across the bay area actually expired about a half

hour ago at 5:00 a.m. including palo alto which announced its curfew last night. the restrictions there as well as all of contra costa and alameda county expired at 5:00 a.m. san jose and san francisco had similar orders in place. as nbc bay area sky ranger flew over vallejo late last night things were mostly quiet. it may be because about 50 national guard members are now there assisting on the ground, but there were some moments of conflict. police say at one point earlier in the night protesters briefly surrounded the police department but eventually dispersed and despite the curfew there were some reports of looting. it's 5:35. in the east bay positive signs of progress in the fight against covid-19. hospitalizations are no longer on the rise in contra costa county and all eight hospitals in the county now have at least a 30-day supply of ppe. because of that contra costa county health services is now allowing more businesses to reopen. we have a breakdown for you, reopening today indoor retail shopping, business offices -- though you are still encouraged to work from home if allowed -- outdoor museums, services that don't require close customer contact such as housekeeping, car washes, plumbing and pet grooming. child care and camps for children, groups no larger than 12. curbside pickup at libraries and protests a number of shops are still boarded up because of the george floyd protests.

liccardo is asking him and other city leaders in 8:46 of silence. that is the amount of time george floyd was pinned to the ground by minneapolis police. at 4:00 p.m. a peaceful protest is planned in san francisco. new video this morning two of the largest of last night's protests across the country. some people within the midst of all of that started throwing bottles at police officers. but they say things calmed down quickly. in portland also last night used tear gas with police officers. this is to disperse an agitated crowd. new this morning you will absolutely need a facemask if you're outside in san jose.

that plan last night requires a mask inside of any business while riding on public transit and waiting to enter any business. people are exempt from wearing a mask if you're in your home or driving alone in a car. just in time for the warm-up, parking lots are open again. also, as of this week, parking lots reopened at state parks and there is limited access again. make sure you know what sort of access you have available to you. it feels great right now.

>> it is already warm. you can feel it. the more beaches are opening as we talk about cooler temperatures coming in and that's what we are going to see this weekend. we have to make it through today and tomorrow. we do have that heat advisory that began for all of these areas shaded in orange that does not include the inner bay and parts of the coastal areas where it will be slightly cooler compared to those inland valleys. as we get a look at where we're headed for today starting out in the upper 60s in san jose, and then we take a look at the high temperatures for today and it's going to heat up pretty fast. they're even kicking in the heat advisory earlier than they normally do. and it continues to 9:00. we'll be watching that as well as the week cooldown. more on that coming up in a few minutes. mike, you've been watching the commute. any new issues popping up?
