fire says they have to try and find a way to get into that fire because it's up on that hillside. the closest intersection i can give you is san philippe road, and not silver creek, but silver creek valley road. we do know that firefighters are trying to access that fire right now and we do know the brush is very dry right now especially after the spike in heat that we have seen. today is supposed to be a little cooler but hopefully the wind will cooperate. right now, very calm and it's absolutely still out here. let's send it over to vianey as we jump in our truck and try to get closer to the fire. >> kris, you are right, we had triple digit heat this weekend. there are three factors, hot
4:32 am
temperatures, low humidity and wind factor. right now in evergreen, we're going to go into the 80s quickly. it's expected to be a hot day, even though we are seeing cooler. and as kris mentioned, not seeing a lot of wind and this is good in trying to stop a fire. currently now, 2 to 4 miles per hour winds and not expecting gusty conditions today, and into the weekend we will see winds increase but we will also see the temperatures cool down. the temperatures are comfortable right now, and we will get to that later. let's get over to mike. >> i want to take you to the maps. the green sensors all around the

>> reporter: now we know this is a five-acre fire and is still burning, and the flame is not visible from where we are but you can see the line of rigs waiting to head up to fight the fire, and this is a joint event between the san jose fire department and cal fire. as we were making our way up here we did see a bulldozer up here, which is a great tool for firefighters to use to dig a line to stop that fire. no structures are threatened at this point and wind conditions are very favorable, it's very still out here in san jose. the closest intersection you can see from where we are would be san philippe road and silver creek valley road. there are a lot of homes in the area but none close enough to the fire to be at risk. we know, though, because of our spike in temperatures and we
