8:09 am
>> i think there's two things going on here. one, they are testing more, which is a good thing. we want as many tests as we can get out there. the more tests you find asymptomatic people. finding out cases are actually rising in these areas not necessarily dependent on the testing. what's happening with the rising cases is some of these states have opened too fast and too soon in some areas where you haven't seen the rise, seen them open half the restaurant, maybe, half the different areas they can go to other ones fully opened up everything and don't have social distancing in place and that's where you're starting to see the cases rise i think this is a lesson in we need to do it incrementally to make sure we keep it under control. >> yeah. then at the same time we saw nationwide protests. some protesters did wear masks, attempted to do social distancing we've all seen images of the packed crowd the surgeon general said he would expect new clusters because of protests. what do you think? >> i think the same thing.
8:10 am
i think we are going to see new clusters because of those protests one thing we do know, if it's outside, the air is moving, ventilation outside, it doesn't seem to carry or transmit as much that means also people outside typically are further apart. these protests are very close together, often a lot of screaming and shouting if tear gas is there, as joe fryer said, it's worse i think we'll see clusters crop up over the next week or two the concern they go back to their communities, if they live with somebody vulnerable, it's a bigger concern, savannah. >> the number one question on the minds of parents, schools reopening in the fall. dr. fauci had some words on this what did he say? >> what he said essentially is it's time to start looking at reopening schools. for schools in particular, children we know they are not a, although we do know they have risks from it so you need to be very careful in areas where the community doesn't have much of a spread, you can open up a little more
