and a good morning to you on this thursday. taking a live look out in downtown san jose next to the sap center. getting started with this thursday means we're much closer to friday. 4:46 for you this morning. and today there is a treat. meteorologist kari hall has been telling us it will cool down just a bit.
4:47 am
>> yes, it will be cooler today. it's going to be in some spots a little bit more comfortable, but we'll still heat up in our inland valleys. here's part of the reason why. can you see anything as we take a look outside in san francisco? that's the fog that returned yesterday and it's getting thicker today. so, if you're heading out in the inland areas for a jog this morning, expect it to start out in martinez in the low 60s and then as we head towards 10:00 or 11:00, it's still fairly comfortable. it will be the afternoon where those temperatures kind of spike for a couple hours and then head back down as they ocean breeze kicks in. so, we're still reaching up to 90 degrees in antioch today. and some upper 80s in concord. up to 86 degrees. that will be the high in napa today while san francisco stays in the 60s. san jose is going to feel better, too, with a high of 84 degrees. as we look at our hour-by-hour outlook, we are clear today. but then we'll start to see a chance of showers farther to the north. that starts tomorrow as some
4:48 am
cooler air moves in. now, the models have been hinting at that rain staying farther to the north and we'll keep a slight chance of rain in the forecast, just in case, because it will be nice to get some rain. i'm just being hopeful here. doesn't look like most of us will see any of those showers as the cool air arrives on friday it continues into saturday. and then as we look at the rest of the forecast, well, high pressure builds once again and that means that heat will return. so we really only have two days of a return from the heat as we're still going to be warm today. tomorrow in the mid 70s and also in the mid 70s on saturday but then look at the jump in temperatures on sunday and next week we're back in the 90s for those inland valleys. mike, you've been watching the roads and you're looking at a spot around oakland. >> yeah, exactly. let's take a live look. we have our camera right by the coliseum and northbound 880 is where the crash was reported right near the high street off ramp. the live look out there doesn't seem to show the flashing light any more and the crew there look

like they cleared the injuries. no, you see the flashing lights at high street at the off ramp. as we look at the map just past the coliseum, we marked it with a little circle at the bottom of the screen. no slowing at the scene. the high street off ramp might be affected. i know in san francisco the mcarthur tunnel and veteran boulevard continues and it's closed and mcarthur tunnel until 6:00 a.m. and it will happen overnight tomorrow night until 6:00 a.m. do keep that in mind. the rest of the bay is great. back to you. >> we like to hear that. thanks, mike. decision 2020 and new voter registration weighed down during the pandemic. this is for both political parties. registration was down 70% in april. this is compared to the same time last year. in california, it's down more than 75%. one big reason popular registration locations including schools and dmvs were closed. l.a. county health director says we're not out of the woods
