and a good monday morning to you. taking a live look out in san jose, getting started with our workweek. this is going to be a great one. i say that about all of them but it's going to be a great one. >> this one, though, really is, right? >> this is the one. >> especially if you like the heat. i think by the end of the week, right, kari? yeah, some people want to get out and have warm enough weather to go swimming, we're going to have some of that as we head to the end of the week. today it's still really comfortable and you may enjoy time out on the back patio, maybe getting a little bit of sunshine. let's check out walnut creek and how our day shapes up or at least the morning. temperatures in the mid-50s and then reach into the low 70s as we head to the 11:00 hour and then as we look at our high

temperatures for today livermore will reach 78 degrees. we'll see a high of 83 degrees in concord, napa reaching 80 degrees. and santa rosa will reach 83 degrees. you look at san francisco, we stay in the 60s today. so there will still be a wide range in temperatures as we go to the middle to end of the week. high pressure builds. that's going to be the dominant feature influencing our weather as we go into the next several days. the winds flowing around clockwise will bring us a northerly wind. it will be a dry wind and at times gusting quite high as we look at our potential of fire weather conditions, a possibility as we go to the end of the week as it gets hotter and drier and windier. we're looking at temperatures that will start out today inland reaching into the low 80s, more of the same tomorrow. then you can see how our temperatures start to rise on wednesday, they peak on thursday and then by friday we're still

looking at some warm weather that will extend into the weekend and for san francisco we're mostly going to see 60s today but then we'll warm up into the mid to upper 70s by the middle of the week. notice saturday is the first day of summer on the calendar. we are also going to have a lot longer in the sun light hours of the day and we're also going to have some warm weather into the first part of the weekend. lots to watch out for here in the workweek. mike, how is it looking for the commute? not a lot to watch out for which is great right now. we love that on the roadways. kari, we'll show twhau we can see, though. the maps show you speed sensors are great. we'll focus on the approach to the bay bridge through contra costa county, an easy flow of traffic. we're going to talk about one incident we're watching and it's not really traffic -- well, it's traffic caused. it will affect the intersection of adobe, you see petaluma marked on themall grass fire.

it's been taken off the blotter, but i will still watch that for any updates. it doesn't sound like the fire was a major update. they may have fixed it by now. the rest of the bay shows you green sensors all around and that's great stuff. there's one or note, for example, for silicon valley, you have another option, getting down to milpitas, the b.a.r.t. station opened. increased service for cal train but reduced for golden gate transit. check those schedules. back to you, laura. thank you very much, mike. three young people are in custody after firing at chp officers in the east bay. it happened a little over 24 hours ago on southbound 880 in hayward. someone fired seven shots at a marked patrol car. neither the cars or the officers were hit. shortly after the shooting they found the suspected car and arrested the 20-year-old man, a 14-year-old boy and 18-year-old who they say fired the shots, all are from southern

california. a deputy injured in last weekend's deadly ambush in ben lomond is now out of the hospital. yesterday a line of first responders proudly sent off alex spencer from the hospital where he was treated. spencer suffered shrapnel injuries and was hit by the suspect's car. this is the same attack that killed sergeant damon gutzwiller. yesterday fellow deputies accompanied spencer to his car and then escorted him the entire way home. well, happening today state lawmakers will meet to try to pass an especially tough budget plan. the legislature doesn't know how much money it has to spend, and there's friction with the governor over what lawmakers should be spending the money on. governor newsom's office is estimating the state's deficit of $54 billion. not only do lawmakers have billion in funding for local governments. newsom is not supporting the idea. presidential candidate joe biden reportedly getting closer

welcome back. 4:55. more california churches are starting to resume sunday service. public masses resumed yesterday for catholic churches in the san diego area. the catholic diocese reopened its doors for nearly 100

parishes. in all cases churches are resuming under strict guidelines including attendance limits, hand sanitizer and no communion cups during catholic services. churches request parishioners wear masks. native american tribes in some states are moving ahead with plans to reopen their casinos despite the pandemic including some in connecticut despite pleas by the governor to remain closed. governor newsom is urging them to hold off. casinos in lake tahoe and the sacramento area reopened earlier this month. fortunately there is time right now to sort things out before the nba season gets started again because right now the league may be dealing with some unresolved issues. over the week the league sent a memo to 22 returning teams. now, remember, the warriors are not among those teams. that memo lays out the guidelines including testing in the leadup to the july 9th start
