temperature trend for today. we start out with some upper 50s here and then we see it quickly warming up as we go through late morning into early afternoon. at noon we're 82 degrees and it continues to go up fro bay looking at a high of 91 in east san jose. downtown san jose reaches the upper 80s. we will see a few more widespread 90s for the inland east bay as we reach up to 93 in antioch but hayward stays comfortable. we'll see the inner bay in the 70s and 60s along the coastline as the fog lingers today. for san francisco we're going to see the fog at levels of about 1,500 feet above sea level and that will remain throughout today. so you're looking at the outer sunset where we stay in the upper 60s. the mission district up to 70 degrees. 82 degrees for mill valley and up to 90 today in napa while some of those interior areas get really hot. this is the weather trend we'll see throughout the week as high pressure builds it will not move

and so we're in for wide ranging temperatures but then by the end of the weekend the storm passes to the north that will make it breezy by sunday and temperatures come down a few degrees. you look at the seven-day forecast once again some 90s for most of us throughout the week, even some mid-90s by the end of the week into the start of the weekend. we just come down a few more degrees but san francisco keeping that natural air conditioning staying in the 70s all throughout the workweek. and, mike, you've been watching the commute. what's the update for us? we don't have anything really exciting which is what you want in traffic. we mentioned a wind advisory for the golden gate bridge. this is from chp. a look at the san mateo bridge and the high rise there where chp also said that overnight they had some gusty winds so just a note there but, again, no problems when you see the smooth drive. that shows us the green sensors across 92 over the weekend, very crowded getting into and out of

rescues they made over the weekend. new overnight two people are dead in north carolina after what neighbors say was an exchange of gunfire during an i am impromptu block party. five more people were struck by cars as they ran from the scene. one person fired shots and the party was a continuation of the weekend's juneteenth celebration. developing for you now eight minnesota correction officers have filed discrimination charges against the county detention center in st. paul. they say that they were kept away from the floor where ex-police officer derek chauvin was held. chauvin is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the killing of george floyd. those guards are all minorities who say that supervisors kept them from entering or even working on the fifth floor this is where chauvin is being detained. he's now been moved to a state

facili facility. a viewing and public memorial is planned for 27-year-old rayshard brooks at the historic ebenezer baptist church. a celebration of life will be held tomorrow. tyler perry offered to pay for brooks' funeral. his studios are just four miles from where brooks was shot. the officer who shot brooks is facing charges and video shows brooks taking off during a police stop after grabbing the officer's taser. continuing our coronavirus coverage nearly half of all states including california are seeing a spike in cases of coronavirus with nearly 3,600 patients here now in the hospital. that's california's highest number since the start of the pandemic and happening now new york city businesses are preparing to enter phase two of reopening. bars and restaurants are reopening for outdoor dining along with in-person retail, nonessential offices, hair salons and barber shops. new york city playgrounds will

fallout from a decision that's now just hours away. and climbing temperatures in parts of the bay area we will be warming up on the first full week of summer. and a good monday morning. thank you for starting with "today in the bay." i'm marcus washington. >> and i'm kris sanchez in for laura garcia. it says weird to say the first full week of summer but we did just leap over the summer, kari. yeah, it got really hot. we'll have more of that heat throughout the week. over the south bay looking from the cupertino hills, we are starting out with a nice sun rise here. you can see the low clouds settling into parts of the south bay as we are going to start out with temperatures throughout the morning warming up into the upper 60s already at 9:00 and then look at the trend. we reached the upper 80s here. some of us will hit the 90s and

deadly officer involved shooting. a 19-year-old man died yesterday on north temple drive near cardoza park where police were reporting to reports of a stabbing. they say the suspect was holding a knife when they arrived and charged at an officer and that's when shots were fired. the victim of the initial stabbing call was treated at a hospital and then released. a decision due today from president trump may have a tremendous impact on the tech industry right here in the bay area. there is a shortage of skilled workers here in the bay area. this would not affect any workers currently here on a visa. president trump's order, however, would suspend l-1 visas here in the united states, j-1 visas for professors, h-2b for seasonal workers not in agriculture. npr reports one point of contention is whether or not new au pairs would be allowed to enter the united states. president trump's executive order comes a week after the supreme court ruled against his administration's attempt to shut down the daca program which protects children of undocumented immigrants from deportation. the president temporarily suspen program earlier this year. he says to stop the spread of coronavirus and protect american jobs during this pandemic. bob redell, "today in the bay." all right, thank you very much, bob.

there are also more coronavirus cas cases, concerns among several states after spikes in several states that had reopenings here in california included. in the bay area this morning health officials are keeping an eye on one particular work place in marin county. cierra johnson is live with more on that outbreak and the surge this weekend in overall coronavirus cases. good morning, cierra. >> reporter: good morning, kris. if you hear some of that rumbling, that's the trucks going by because i'm in front of the marin sanitary service. every morning they process recycling and garbage but this morning it's the source of 43 confirmed covid cases. this according to "the pa rin independent journal." those numbers contributing to a bigger picture, a record high one-day increase of cases here in california. take a look at this graphic. there were nearly 4,000 cases in state hospitals reported on saturday alone. that's the highest total since

april 1st and is a 22% increase. california also reported over 1,000 confirmed covid-19 patients are in intensive care. now locally the number of cases at the san rafael plant, this is the result, rather, of plant wide testing here in san rafael. the marin independent journal reporting all 288 employees were tested after an initial case on june 8th and several workers thereafter tested positive. now a spokesperson for the waste management plant here says the people who did test positive don't deal directly with the public although there was one truck driver that did test positive. live in san rafael, cierra johnson, "today in the bay." the san jose sharks and santa clara county are teaming up in an effort to get more people tested. this starts on tuesday and runs through saturday. you can see the hours there on

your screen. 1:00 to 7:00 tuesday through friday and 9:00 to 3:00 on saturday. no appointment is needed. this week santa clara county is opening more of its courtroom services. they started last week with criminal and family justice cases. this week, starting today, misdemeanor and child support hearings resume. next week it'll be civil and traffic court hearings. all are operating under major health related restrictions and only allowing people required to be in courtrooms. a follow-up now from district leaders responding to news of a suspended laney college professor. that professor, matthew hubbard, issued an apology over the weekend for sending a vietnamese-american student an email. in it he suggests that she should anglicize the pronunciation of her name, phuc bui, because in english it sounds like a vulgarity. a statement has been issued
