we expect to see more wet weather and steamy weather, ingd up by this upper level high. hot and dry out west and seasonal in the northeast. as we push into the florida area, we're going to see temperatures that may set records. tampa, miami, key west, all the city all possibly setting records. going to be hot again tomorrow as we make our way into the weekend, we are talking and into next week temperatures upper 80s for charleston, mid-90s in tampa. miami's going to see temperatures in the 90s. and out west the heat continues as well. we're talking records stretching from reading, phoenix, fresno. and that will continue into next week as well beyond that we're talking about a fire danger stretching from reno down to phoenix and up to salt lake city increasing winds into the weekend. that's what's going on around good morning. i'm meteorologist kari hall.

>> reporter: hey, hoda. good morning. now, we are live from another museum and i want to show you -- take a look. normally this would be packed but there are no lines out here. that's by design. the museum is selling a limited number of tickets for specific time slots. that allows them to monitor how many people are inside. and earlier today i was one of the lucky ones. it's paris but without all the tourists. shorter lines and just fewer people. it's practically empty. this is your chance to get up close and personal with some of the world's greatest art. now, on a normal summer day, they normally see 15,000 people come through the doors. and today they're expecting just 4,000. but this city needs tourists and is desperate for them to return. how was this for you? >> it's huge for anyone. any cultural institution, all the museums in the world, you

know, have been hit hard. three months in a row without a revenue, you know, from ticketing is of course a big blow. >> reporter: the eiffel tower losing more than $30 million during lockdown. and the louvre set to open next week says it's lost more than $44 million. the iconic museum home to the mona lisa prepping this week for a new social distanced experience. during a normal summer, 80% of the visitors come from abroad. including 1.5 million americans. the museum director says they're now looking at an 80% fall in total numbers. all the museums have made wearing face masks mandatory and all are operating at limited capacity. at the louvre, only about 70% of its collection will even be accessible. >> yeah. it will probably be a good change. not seeing too many people around all the paintings. that's nice. >> reporter: but fewer tickets means they won't make up that revenue gap even as european tourists start to arrive. the energy, palpable as monuments open their doors, even cinemas and cafes now serving

forecast for this friday morning. a hot one today but cooler tomorrow? yes. we're all going to have a cooldown as we take a live look outside in san francisco. we haven't had a warm-up here because of the fog and the drizzle that we had coming down. we'll see temperatures today reaching into the mid-60s. some upper 70s for oakland and some low 90s for the inland. the east bay as hot as 103 in ukiah. as we go through the forecast, the cooldown starts tomorrow but the winds will pick up as the system moves in and we will once again have that threat of quickly spreading fires as we get any of them going. we'll have to be really careful especially sunday as gusts may reach 40 miles an hour. next week we'll warm up once again as the sunshine continues. laura? all right, sounds good. thanks so much, kari. thank you for joining us as well. another local news update is coming up in about half an hour. and of course join us for our midday news as well.
