what are organizers demanding? >> reporter: marcus, the organizers of th the #stophateforprofit campaign have ten demands they plan to stress during today's meeting with mark zuckerberg including that facebook ad dedicated to civil rights refund advertisers whose ads were shown next to hateful contempt and submit third-party audits of hate speech and misinformation on the site. last month the coalition of civil rights organizations formed the campaign to pressure advertisers to stop spending on facebook's platform over its handling of hate speech. hundreds of businesses have pulled ads, walgreens, best buy, ford and adidas. in response mark zuckerberg announced policy changes in a recent virtual town hall meeting. >> to crack down on voter suppression and to fight hate speech. >> we need concrete measurable change and we need it now.ly ad

brushfires we've seen especially over parts of our hills from the south county over to the east bay. win speeds start out very light coming in mostly from the northwest and turns more westerly as we go into the rest of the day. as our winds increase it will become at times a little bit more breezy at about 15 to 25 miles per hour. especially in the south bay. looking at our high temperatures we are still going to have a wide range from some low to mid-60s near the coast to some upper 80s for the inland areas. high pressure will get closer and that keeps us from having a strong wind. it tends to weak our wind speeds. we're not going to get that cooling, natural air conditioning. it will climb a few more degrees as we head to the middle of the

week. san francisco will be in the 60s. a wide range in temperatures. mike, you've been looking all across the bay area. any issues popping up right now? >> kari, well, the fires you've been talking about, i know about them but we're on the lookout for those as well. we do have one reported in the north bay. we're looking at a smooth flow for the freeways overall. there's a minor crash on the shoulder out of the altamont pass. we're in the center divide but it's out of lanes. the north bay, not the main fire we showed you at the top of the show but a smaller trash fire. we're on alert for all of this around highway 12. a big trash fire. a number of people have called that in. through the east bay a smooth drive to the bay bridge and to the richmond/san rafael bridge. a good amount of traffic was there. now things just cleared. i guess we missed that first rush. we'll send it right back to you, marcus. >> thanks, mike.

months of protest is costing the state more than $70 million so far. "the sacramento bee" reporting more than half of that money was spent on overtime by chp. the final figure is expected to rise as more figures are compiled. those demonstrations were triggered following the death of george floyd while in police custody in march. changes right at the top of the california prison system, the health system in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak that's ongoing. the health services announced a shake-up including the replacement of the top medical officer. governor newsom mentioned transfer blunders now contributing to the surge in cases. more than 1,000 inmates are infected at san quentin. it's believed six inmates there have died of the virus. the state assembly will remain in recess.

five people who work in the assembly including one lawmaker have tested positive for covid-19. he says this is to protect staff and the public. this morning is takeout tuesday, and restaurant owners in parts of southern california are working to make sure that is a successful day for them. marcus, i think you know more about this story than i do at this point. >> i can tell you all the public indoor activities at restaurants, theaters and museums will come to a halt again in los angeles county because of a surge in covid-19 cases. so health leaders there say the new shutdown will last for three weeks but outdoor dining is still allowed. one restaurant manager says he has to comply to keep business going. >> up and down. real slow the first couple months. we just had our locals which kept us going.

every day was something new, different rules, this and that. we adapted. restaurants are encouraging people to still help them out by doing takeout during these tough times. new for you this morning international students need to leave the u.s. if their classes go online. that's what the new federal immigration guidelines say. foreign students must take at least some of their classes in person to stay in the country. also, new visas will not be issued to students or programs that are entirely online this is creating a problem for thousands of international students who are now looking for options after the coronavirus forced their universities to move to online learning. a home run or a strikeout? next here on "today in the bay" we're going to talk about the new major league baseball schedule being released as more players undergo covid-19 testing. plus -- ♪ i want to hold your hand

welcome back. 4:55. as hockey fans hoped, the return of the nhl season turns out to be a win-win for the players and ownership. that's because along with the final agreement to return, both agreed to a four-year labor deal. the way it was set up one thing couldn't happen without the other. so play is supposed to resume august 1st with all games in canada. the sharks will not be among the teams returning because of their poor record this season. oh, when you put it that way. the giants and the a's are finally playing some ball after testing related delays. the giants say two people tested positive, however, they have not said whether or not those two people are players or staff, coaches, we don't know yet. fans finally have a schedule to banter on about. it came out yesterday afternoon. as expected the giants will open july 23rd at dodgers stadium.
