right now at 4:30, breaking news. naya rivera goes missing during a boating trip with her son. san francisco's mayor in disbelief and shock after she was they were sick at one of her events. the precautions the mayor is now taking. i wonder what is going to happen today. kari? >> it's going to be slightly warmer this afternoon, especially for the inland areas. let's head over to dublin and check out the temperature trend and the morning hours the best time to get outside. start out with mid 50s and still not too bad, but we are going to see some 90s for high temperatures today as our temperatures spike this afternoon. reaching up to 93 in livermore and 89 today in san jose. we'll get a closer look at these temperatures coming up. mike, how is it looking for the early morning commute? >> well, kari, it's early so the morning commute looks really good. i'll show you sensors around the bay. as we take a look at the map, you see the sensors little slowf the altamont. the left side of the screen we focus on north 101 approaching sfo and car went off the roadway. we're watching for crash

activity and let you know if there are any serious injuries. back to you. >> thank you, mike. breaking news in south korea and the search in seoul for the city's mayor. police are looking for mayor park. they reported the disappearance saying he did not show up for work today. park is in his third term. breaking right now in california the search expected to resume a short time from now for "glee" actress naya rivera. her son was found alone on a boat and both mother and son went swimming but she did not get back on the boat. other boaters first found the boy who was wearing a life jacket but it is believed rivera was not wearing one. deputies do not expect foul play and talking to the boy about what happened. >> we're still looking into the

circumstances but right now this appears to be an active e. >> rivera rented a pontoon boat just hours earlier. well, san francisco mayor london breed is self-isolating this morning and frankly, she says, she's outraged after someone knowingly infected with coronavirus still attended one of her events. sharon is live. good morning. >> good morning. right now you would think if you were infected, you would isolate. mayor london breed shows her emotions in this tweet. in it she says she was told by the director of public health that a person with covid-19 was at an ave been exposed to the virus. >> i'm really angry that someone

would be told they have covid-19. and be told what to do and to defy that request to not only keep themselves healthy and safe, but to keep other people healthy and safe. i could have infected somebody unknowingly. >> san francisco public health directors used the mayor's exposure low to moderate, which means the infected person could have come within six feet of her, but a protective mask helps block the exposure. right now monitoring for the mayor and her staff is key. she will be self-isolating for ten days. meantime atlanta's mayor keshia lance bottom took to social media that she tested positive for covid-19 and in her tweet she indicated thee is asymptomattic. if you were concerned you were out and about over fourth of july weekend some indicators may

be you feel feverish or this morning you can't smell your coffee. those are indications you should get tested for the coronavirus. seton medical center is one of four facilities that the state plans to keep available as surge hospitals despite the high cost of keeping them open. the state has only been able to account for 20% of the $252 million cost to run the facilities through may and it will cost $1 billion to keep the hospitals open through the spring. bay area state lawmaker today will get a first-hand look inside san quentin where some 1,500 inmates have been infected. it is believed a half dozen inmates died from complications to coronavirus. the number of confirmed cases nearing half the prison's entire population. ahead of today's tour leaders will join community groups to urge the governor to take more action. in just a few hours from now

sonoma county leaders plan to update and perhaps narrow down the county's reopening rules. the press democrat reports health leaders are considering new restrictions on indoor businesses and also expecting the county to be placed on the state's watch list as early as tomorrow because of a surge in cases and hospitalizations. sonoma county is currently in stage three of reopening. starting today, the city of alameda is starting to open more spaces for outdoor dining and shopping. crews are restriping parking streets to create two lanes instead of four between tilden way and encino avenue. the restriping taking place today and tomorrow. as we have been reporting school districts around the bay area working out plans for the fall and today the san mateo foster city school district is holding a special meeting to do the same. options include alternating weeks, hybrid learning and distance learning. the meeting is at 6:30 tonight and you can join that meeting tonight via zoom or on the

phone. the link is at the san mateo foster city school website. happening today, san francisco leaders debate an election day proposal to change police staffing levels. supporters argue sfpd officer count has been the same for more than two decades now. the charter amendment called for staffing adjustments every two years authorized by the police commission. a supervisor's committee will hear the issue today. the full board will have to approve it for it to make the fall. new this morning, oakland police say homicides are up this summer. reporting seven deaths in just the pa two weeks. most of the crime is not random. its outreach program like the cease-fire team is collaborating with community partners to try to reduce the spike. the crews that are fighting the wildfire that is also calls crews favorable conditions is

strength of tech names like apple. the nasdaq gained 30% over the past three months. however, in focus, more investors today the latest number of americans filing for unemployment. jobless claims above 1 million for 15 straight weeks. bed, bath and beyond says it will close 15 stores. overall revenue fell 50% in the latest quarter. bed, bath & beyond was struggling to draw shoppers before the pandemic disrupted america's buying habits. buy buy baby says those closed o years. fast food news. chic-fil-a is postponing its annual cow appreciation day due to the pandemic. called the annual tradition where if you didn't know customers get free food for dressing up like a cow. largest single day customer event with two million people taking part in previous years.

outside. check out what is happening in san francisco and looking over towards the bay bridge, it is a very nice clear start to the day and if you're going to be heading out today, we're looking pretty good in terms of the pollen count. just in case you were wondering. most of these top allergens at this point, now that we have clear air and better air quality. let's make plans to lace up those shoes and go for a run this morning. santa rosa with some temperatures in the low 50s this morning. nice start to the day as we even go into late morning. you'll have a nice opportunity to get outside before those temperatures get hot. we know that our temperatures go up and down relatively quickly here because of how dry it is. very low humidity and so we're looking at our temperatures just starting out in the 50s but reaching 93 degrees today. during the middle of the afternoon will be your time to limit your time outside, as well as trying to stay in some air conditioning. we're looking at a high of 93 in livermore and 89 in san jose.

you notice a little hotter today compared to yesterday. as we were starting to see some of that heat from the desert southwest surging into the bay area. so, it's really going to be hot across southern california and we're on the edge of that, looking at some hotter temperatures here and not as much of an ocean breeze. even though our inland valleys will be hot, we're still looking at cool coastal temperatures. we're staying in the 90s for the valleys while san francisco really won't see too many changes here. upper 60s maybe hitting the low 70s over the next several days. mike, as drivers get ready to head out, any issues going on out there? >> we have your road crews and that's not an issue and a major concern because those folks trying to help and we need to make sure they stay safe as they end their work day or night. folks travel south towards san jose and one lane most folks know about it, but it's dark and

just want to shout that out. smooth drive for rest of the bay and no developments for the crash in redwood city and the altamont pass and little slowing and just starting to build towards greenville and the cleae and contra costa county towards the bay bridge. decision 2020 democratic presidential contender joe biden will visit pennsylvania as part of his push to win the white house. biden plans to visit a metal works plant outside of scranton. he has held mostly virtual events due to the pandemic. proposals to fight climate change and institutional racism while expanding health care coverage. on the "uss theodore roosevelt" due to return to home port wrapping up what could only be called a turbulent six months at sea. a coronavirus outbreak rocked

that ship. one sailor died in march and the navy fired the ship's com a let out where he was asking for the ship to be evacuated. a follow up. the white house is taking a new approach and trying to deny asylum to immigrants. a proposed new rule would allow homeland security to block asylum seekers based on international health and pandemic risk. more specifically, the coronavirus. the rule would extend to those facing potential danger within their countries. and the decision would be made not in court but at the border. the rule will take effect only 30 days after the completion of a public comment period. more california universities are joining that fight against i.c.e. the immigration, customs enforcement to protect international students. uc san diego, san diego state and the university of san diego are all trying to ensure international students do not lose their visas. students doing virtual learning

the 49ers are preparing the faithful for the very distinct possibility of limited or even no seating for home games this fall. citing the likelihood of reduced capacity, the team is offering season ticketholders the option to roll over their current payments over to the 2021 season. fans can also opt out for a full refund. the team is not providing specifics about reduced capacity, but season ticketholders would have first crack at any single game tickets if they become available. san jose earthquake's match is still on track even though another team may be forced to drop out of tournament. weighing the fate of the nashville team which reportedly has up to nine infected players and had its first game postponed. the quakes will play the

degrees each and every afternoon. let's get a look at our trend at least for this morning in pleasant hill where we enjoy some comfortable weather. we are in the upper 50s here and at 11:00 the upper 70s. but then as we check out our high temperatures, we're seeing some 90s today. the coastal areas will stay in the 60s and oakland in the upper 70s. we'll talk about our range in temperatures going into the weekend coming up. mike, any issues you're seeing popping up on the roads? >> no, and that's a good thing, of course, kari. we're looking at the map and showing you contra costa county approaching the bay bridge and traffic flows smooth and easy and you see five bridges on that map. two more added down here as we look at the rest of the peninsula and south bay. we'll talk about a crash on the peninsula coming up. i'll give you a little detail. but, chrkris, we're following t story.
