yes, we are, and we'll have another beautiful day. we're basically stuck in this weather pattern where we're seeing some clouds and fog near the coast and clear and warm weather inland as we look outside in walnut creek. we go from the upper 50s to the upper 70s, and we don't stop there. we'll reach near 90 degrees today with our south bay highs in the low 80s and up to 97 in ukiah today. mike, you've been watching the roads, a couple issues already popping up. yes, kari. we have a transition from a problem at the bay bridge toll plaza where the stall has cleared now. the map shows mostly clear but the problem eastbound 580 right here, eden canyon road, the crash involving wooden pallets leaves wood and nails in the roadway. only two lanes open, the left two, getting to the tri-valley where there's a new crash. laura, more details. i'll bring that to you coming up. all right, certainly will check back with you. we've been talking about sports

slowly making their way back into our lives amid the pandemic, but it's being done, of course, without in-person fans. new this morning "today in the bay's" cie san francisco to explain how some of our localsses. they're not getting all the income from the fans. so they're facing a lot of job cuts. cierra? >> reporter: exactly. arenas like this one are not seeing any people -- there's no concerts and no games which means no fans which in turn means no revenues. many arenas including this one and oracle park have both decided to cut some of their concession workers. take a look at your screen. we will break down the numbers. this news comes from the food management coming for both facilities. "the examiner" is reporting 2,100 food service workers will be cut. that includes 667 hourly union right now at 5:13 as we workers from the chase center check out foster city and our and 737 hourly workers from temperature trend for this morning we'll start out with oracle park.

zoo leaders were concerned it could have closed permanently because they were just running out of cash. it can get pretty warm in the east bay. let's check the forecast and temperatures there with kari. it's going to be nice and comfortable in oakland if you're heading to the zoo. as we take a live look outside in san jose, we're starting out with clouds this morning that will linger for a couple hours and then clear out. our tren going from the upper 50s this morning to the low 80s by early in the afternoon. it will be just slightly above our normal high temperature of 82. and we're up to 90 in concord today. 79, very comfortable, in napa today with san francisco staying in the 60s. we'll get a look ahead to the rest of the week and the weekend coming up. mike gets you out the door with a look at the commute. we have a couple of unexpected places we're finding slowing. the first one in san francisco, we're talking about getting into the city, north 101 right around paul avenue. approaching bay shore boulevard, a crash currently is blocking

lot of sunshine for today and really nice temperatures at least to start but it will warm up. a look at our microclimates and talk about our baseball forecast coming up. thanks, kari. firefighters still not confirming the cause of yesterday's massive fire in san francisco that was near central freeway south of market. it destroyed six buildings in the area, folsom and 13th streets, sending huge plumes of smoke across the bay. one firefighter had minor injuries. investigators believe that fire may have started with a mattress fire at a nearby homeless encampment put out in the hours before the big fire started. california's attorney general is filing a lawsuit against the trump administration about the 2020 census. new guidance from the white house excludes undocumented immigrants from being counted when it comes to determining states' congressional seats. in a few hours santa clara county leaders plan to protest both in person at the santa

5:47. president trump says he's unenthusiastic about his own party's plan for another stimulus. >> mitch mcconnell can't find many republicans to support that. yeah, there aren't many people in his own party who really think this is a great idea. some of them think it's too expensive. democrats, of course, say it's not expensive enough. and the president speaking at his daily coronavirus briefing says it will not pass as written. there are a lot of issues that republicans are fighting over internally and some things mcconnell will never compromise on like a liability shield for businesses. the really big fight, though, is over the $600, the extra money the federal government is paying on top of state benefits in unemployment. mcconnell says it's unfair to tax workers to pay those who are

reportedly purchased. wow. today would be a great day to take a drive around the bay area. some parts will be nice and warm. yeah, definitely top down for the convertibles out there as well. we are going to have some beautiful temperatures and comfortable temperatures, i should say, beautiful sun as we take a live look outside in dublin as we get started. as we are going to be watching baseball all day starting at 12:40 with the a's, maybe you want to enjoy that on the back patio. we'll see our temperatures here around the coliseum in the upper 60s and low 70s and the sunshine throughout the day. and then later this evening as we watch the giants game on tv it'll be in the mid-60s there in the city and then that fog rolling back in as it continues to cool off. as we look at our microclimate, expect temperatures ranging from the low 60s in half moon bay to the low 90s in the inland east bay and up to 95 in clear lake. napa 79 degrees.

and some low 80s in san jose. then as we go through the forecast it continues on with the same weather pattern, no huge spikes in our temperatures. so that's pretty good. we're also going to start out with temperatures in the 50s each morning reaching into the upper 80s and low 90s. san francisco staying in the 60s over the next seven days. mike, you've been following a lot of things going on with a track report. >> it's busy in an unusual way. we don't usually see this number of big crashes or bigger crashes, i should say. by bigger number we've had a number of smaller ones as well as we're looking over here to the map. north 101 where we have three out of your four lanes still blocked. this is not a crash. it's a stalled vehicle. still a problem northbound. you're jamming up. you can use tunnel as your option west of the highway. getting in from the observing side we're seeing a build as well at the toll plaza. just a slight build. eastbound 580, unusual there where they're sleg to eden

welcome back. you're watching "today in the bay." well, the wounds understandably still very raw as it's been one year since the shooting at the gilroy garlic festival. three people were killed, 17 others were hurt. last night the community certainly came together to honor those lives lost, the ones who have survived and the ones who prevented further killing. santa clara county d.a.'s office has worked with victims' families to hold an event in gilroy. some of the victims' family members were there. >> today we woke up and the same feelings we've been having since day one. anxiety and pain. we want to thank everyone for coming here. >> because of social distain rules the event was private but streamed online. they also honored three gilroy

police officers who ran into danger to take down the gunman and saved countless lives. each received the district attorney's medal of service. today a memorial for a never identified infant whose death touched a lot of nerves across the bay area. last october a worker found that newborn dead on a conveyor belt at the recovery plant in san jose. police have still not found the parents or figured out how that infant ended up there. the south bay nonprofit is putting together a service which starts at 10:30 at los gatos memorial park. and new overnight for you a car is destroyed after a garage fire in san jose. this happened along williamsburg drive. investigators say this all started with an explosion. a nearby home had to be evacuated. those residents are now back inside their home. no one was hurt nor displaced. the cause of the fire is now under investigation.

now to an update on a story we've been following on "today in the bay." it truly is something good. on saturday a fun raiser was held to support 3-year-old jameson he everson, goes by the name jammer. he has an extremely rare type of brain cancer. they raised more than $5,000. the mayor of newark presented a proclamation at the clarg saturday jammer's day. wishing him and his family the best as he fights a tough disease. >> absolutely. a day of celebration. jammer's day. >> every day should be jammer's day. let's hope he does okay. at 6:00, oakland moving forward with cutting the police department's budget in half. a live report next on the city's plan and how long it will take to make reforms. plus -- >> they're not even saying let's get it done. >> it's politics as usual.
