afternoon. we're looking at low 60s for san francisco and already at 80 degrees in livermore at noon we're reaching into the upper 80s today for this afternoon. as we go through the middle of the day san jose will be about 84 degrees. and in the north bay santa rosa cools off quickly. upper 60s right before sunset. i think a nice evening to head out for a walk once again. one thing we'll be talking about for the tropics is a tropical depression we've been watching moving closer to san juan. right now the wind speeds are too weak but if this continues to develop into a tropical storm it will be named isaias and will continue over parts of cuba and possibly moving intoth weekend,o be making headlines as we continue to watch if that storm evolves. as we look at our weather here we're looking at upper 80s and low 90s for the next several days and we're going to continue on this weather pattern with slightly above normal

metering lights were turned on nine minutes ago. all the lanes are filling in as we expect right about this time on a wednesday. looking at the maps, slowing shows up where the arrow is. on the penan enpeninsula slowin. all lanes are clear. this should be a quick recovery in towards san francisco. that's the only other drama for the day. breaking news for you this morning a live look at a u.s. department of defense news briefing under way right now. just learning moments ago that the president is withdrawing fearly 12,000 troops out of germany. that move is expected to bring home an estimated 6,400 troops and shifts about 6,400 to other places in europe, fulfilling the president's desire to withdraw troops in part to germany's failure to spend enough on national defense. it is expected to cost billions of dollars and take years to finalize.

well, developing this morning, not everyone is coming out a winner even as sports return to the bay area landscape. new this morning "today in the bay's" cierra johnson joins us live in san francisco where the games are going on but they don't have the fans in the stands. they are not spending money at the stadiums and are losing revenue. could be a lot of job cuts here. >> reporter: exactly. as you can imagine arenas are really taking a financial hit if they don't have the games or thosenventions. they don't have the fans in seats which means they don't have as much revenue as they typically do. so two major arenas, one chase center, here in the city are announcing hundreds of layoffs. so this news comes from bon appetite from both oracle park as well as chase center. "the examiner" is reporting roughly 100 food workers will be cut.

now the paper says that 660 workers who work at both of those venues are also being cut. so what about those working for the a's? back in april that organization established a $1 million relief fund for their concession workers that included those working for third party vendors. no word of how much of that relief fund is still available. so it's not j also the sciences, a company based in san mateo let the state know they were eliminating 470 permanent positions with their company. so across the bay area this pandemic hitting businesses hard and it's hurting some of our local folks. we're live in san francisco, cierra johnson for "today in the bay." >> cierra, thank you. well, a new time when the state lawmakers say they're fighting the plan that could derail california's testing efforts.

"today in the bay's" kris sanchez is live. where can people get these tests? >> reporter: this is one of three new pop-up sites in san jose. you don't need an appointment, you don't have to show symptoms. you can walk right up. you might be able to get away with a shorter wait. i will tell you why. 1:00 to 6:00 today through friday and saturday. tuesday through friday you can get tested in the south county annex and the office of education in san jose. this will be the first test of the wrist band system intended to cut down on wait times. berkeley, too. saliva tests at san pablo park. the city will use the same kind of mouth swab test that's been used in los angeles county.

this is to encourage testing by people who couldn't stomach the nasal swab. personally i found the discomfort worth the peace of mind. you have to decide for yourself. in washington democrats and republicans, funding for testing is on the line here. house speaker nancy pelosi says they are asking for $75 billion for testing while republicans are proposing about a fifth of that. leaders have stressed over and over again that contact tracing will be critical to any state's reopening plans. i did put links to the new testing site and the saliva swab test where you can make an appointment in my twitter feed. good info to know there. it's 6:36 right now. it is a costly waiting give as
