(upbeat music) it's a story unfolding right now. >> somehow that suspect got hold of a gun and a car at the jail. we've been on the scene since it happened. "today in the bay's" bob redell is live at the jail this morning. we will get to him. good morning, bob. >> reporter: not far from the san jose police department at the intersection of san pedro and mission. as you look down san pedro to the left side of the screen you see all the flashing lights, the law enforcement. down there to the left is the

san jose main jail here in downtown san jose where the armed suspect is surrounded by police and sheriff's deputies. it started around 1:30, 2:00 in the morning. according to the sheriff's office the suspect, an arrestee started firing off a gun we believe he somehow got from law enforcement. we also believe he might be barricaded within a squad car. no one has been hurt. law enforcement, as i mentioned, has him surrounded. there are tactical teams on site. the jail itself is now on lockdown and the roads around the jail are cordoned off and all right, now on to a shut down for several blocks in shopping spree all in the name of something good. different directions. we don't know what this man was all to support homeless youth arrested for, and we also don't right here in the east bay. >> the leaders of the covenant know how he was able to get that gun if there was some sort of house of california say at the start of the pandemic most of breakdown in protocol or the homeless youth they served something else happened. the main jail behind me is in lost their jobs. but last month forever 21 lockdown. the area around the jail is shut decided to step in and help. the major retailer, which is down for several blocks. an arrestee with a gun who fired going through bankruptcy right now, donated its goods at the shots earlier is still

move in throughout the morning and normally we're reaching 82 degrees. we're not even going to get close to that today. it's going to be cooler than normal all because of the thicker fog that's developing near the coast. in fact, as we take a look at our high temperatures today, you're going to enjoy some low 70s today. as we head to the south county we're looking at some mid-70s for this afternoon. for the east bay, expect our warmest temperatures to reach into the upper 70s for this afternoon with antioch reaching 79 degrees. in oakland today we're staying in the 60s and also along the coastline we're in the 60s today, too. heading over to palo alto expect a high of 72 degrees. and some mid-60s in san francisco. but there will be some areas staying in the 50s today. for the north bay our high temperatures are ranging anywhere from 88 in clear lake to 59 in point reyes. you can see those temperatures will be cool along the coastline. as we get a lot of fog here and

that fog at times will be misting so hard that it's going to add up as rain, right along the coastline. all of that cool air blowing off the fog will keep us all cool for today as well as tomorrow. some of our computer models are high resolution models that are good enough to pick up on some of this very light rain showing about a tenth of an inch of rain for half moon bay. amazing to see an early august. after this it just gets hot. for our inland valleys we're back in the 90s. get ready. mike, how is it looking right now for the drive? >> a smiley face until the last part about the 90s. that's okay. looking to the roadways, looking at the speed limit. that's great. i want to call out a couple things. circled at the bottom of your screen that's where bob redell is at the main jail. right off 87. 87 is clear.
