his doorstep. protestors sending a message to the postmaster general this morning, as concern mounts over warning many states there won't be enough time to get absentee ballots delivered before election day. here is nbc's chris pollone. >> reporter: in washington, something you don't see very often. a protest outside the home of the nation's postmaster general. democrats accusing louis dejoy of changing the agency's operation to slow deliveries down. making it harder for americans to vote by mail during a pandemic. >> universal mail-in voting is going to be catastrophic. it's going to make our country a laughing stock all over the world. >> for weeks, the president has argued, without evidence, voting by mail is subject to widespread fraud. the industry warned dozens of states that ballots might not be delivered in time for election day. >> but now, the president has

in florida. krchris pollone, nbc news. >> switching gears now to the really hot weather in the bay. >> hey, you know, we are under a weather alert but also, now we are looking at the threat of lightning here in the bay area. we have been talking about it since the morning. and i want to give you a look at the central coast. this is a shot using the pg&e cam. they are able to capture images throughout the entire state of california. the reason i am showing you this is because you can actually see the thunderstorm activity there. and they've actually been able to capture some of the fires that have started because of lightning strikes. and that is a reason why the national weather service did go ahead and upgrade that fire watch to a red-flag warning. take a look at satellite radar. you can see hundreds of lightni lightning strikes that have been, you know, really since the morning hours, been really

active. and this is what we're going to be tracking heading into tonight. here locally, heading from the south to north. approaching from south to north, that red-flag warning will remain in place through sunday. so why are we under a red-flag warni warning? when typically, they issue these, we'd like to think of it as they have guksty winds. think of that dry brush out there as fuel. any sort of brush catching on fire that can spread. now, our main and that heat warning through wednesday. we are talking about temperatures over the 100-degree mark. we've seen triple digits today. yesterday, we did see a couple record highs so watch for heat-related illnesses. please, look out for your pets. right now, the temperatures even at this hour, still 105 in livermore. santa rosa, 103. and believe it or not, we're actually running a couple degrees cooler than yesterday.

so here is a 24-hour temperature change in san jose, about six degrees cooler. in san francisco, 9 degrees cooler. so let's take a look at the to that we're monitoring and tracking. you can see that line of storms. especially, a threat over the north bay. and again, as i mention, the santa cruz mountain area, the south lake tahoe area. possibility of seeing that develop late tonight into sunday morning. by tomorrow afternoon, we will see the chance of those thunderstorms diminish but continue for south lake tahoe. if we do continue to see that developing overnight. by tomorrow, temperatures will be in the upper 70s for san francisco. 90s for the south bay. and here is a look at your seven-day forecast. if you are looking for some relief, it looks like we're not going to get it until thursday.
