that ties 1886 for most by september 1st. and it's probably going to be the first major hurricane. it is now hurricane laura 75 mile-per-hour winds. that just came in in the last minute west/northwest at 17 miles per hour it continues its track as we move through the day wednesday just before landfall early thursday morning, it's a category 3 storm 115 mile-per-hour winds.here ars strongest winds arrive early wednesday evening. severe wind damage along a narrow corridor. the storm surge, a life threatening storm surge. and these storm surges are based on a category 2, not a 3 large and destructive waves. crashing on shore. and heavy rain, urban flooding, minor to moderate river flooding and you can see, it's not just along the coast but goes all the way inland up into arkansas. that's what's going on around the country. here's what's happening in your >> good morning. i'm meteorologist kari hall. we take a live look outside in

naysayers and red tape here in central park for colleen and daughter elizabeth, the fight is personal tell me a little bit about what elizabeth cady stanton means to you. >> well, first of all, she's my great, great grandmother, so with that, there's a passage of values and ideas of how to act in life. >> reporter: and how to champion a cause. elizabeth cady stanton led the suffrage movement. organizing the first women's rights convention in 1848. when you were little, what were the kind of stories you heard about elizabeth cady stanton >> the one i remember most is the story of elizabeth around the age of 8 years old overhearing some of what was happening in her father's law office so women were coming in seeking legal counsel and apparently leaving in tears because of the realization that they really weren't protected under the law. >> reporter: as the story goes, young elizabeth planned to tear out any pages from her father's

>> thanks, hoda. we're going to talk to the woman behind that viral quarantine hit "in the f good morning to you. 8:26. i'm marcus washington. breaking news. improving conditions are giving a big boost to firefighters trying to knock down the three massive fire systems burning across the bay area. the firefighters did a great job overnight halting advancements of the czu fire. this is in santa cruz mountains. as of this morning, containment levels are at 17% and the fire has burned close to 80,000 acres. the firefighters in alameda county are telling us the things that have mostly been steady overnight for the scu fires. containment there is 15%. and tens of thousands of people still evacuated bay area wide including many in the north bay. the lnu fire has destroyed hundreds of homes since last week, but it is now 25% contained. let's get a look at our
