we are dealing with unhealthy equal. tomorrow we could be seeing temperatures of 110 to 115 degrees in areas like livermore and antioch. that's what it is. now we are seeing gusty conditions heading into labor day, monday and tuesday and already the fires are burning and the low humidity and dry hot conditions that's going to be a big concern, heading into of course monday and tuesday. we'll go into more details how long this wave will last coming up in our forecast. i will send it back to you. >> amazing temperatures in the forecast there. rotating power houses are a possibility tonight. cal iso made the announcement, it called for a flex alertht and monday between 3:00 and 9:00

tom is talking about the beach in half-moon bay are open and some other areas are closed. you can see in pacifica, beaches are off limits and that's through tuesday. in santa cruz, beaches are closed until 4:00 until monday. monterey county, they are closed. beaches in marin county are open except for those in the point national seashore. those closures because of fires. we have new video in the newsroom from the czu fire. you can see fire crews and boulder creek are battling dangerous flames there. le creuset flames threaten the whole neighborhood in the area. firefighters got to work with hand tools and with little water, luckily they're able to sav

save all the home in that area. an update of the scu fire. all evacuation orders are lifted. tons of thousands of people were evacuated during the hooieight these fires. you can see the latest numbers here, the lnu complex is inching up to 89% compares to 88% last night. the scu complex is now 86% verses 86% yesterday and containment on the czu complex stands at 61%. that's up from 58% last night. crews are making significant progress on the woodward fire. containment stands at 85% which is up front. 71% yesterday. so many fires and so many slopes and plus the heat. not a good combination for our air quality.

the north bay church faces more than $50,000 for fines. tomorrow service is set at 10:30 tomorrow morning. those services are being held in doors. the pastor says he'll don't to do so. not everyone is wearing a mask or staying six-feet apart. north family baptist says it is pursuing its legal options there. there are plenty of masks as a carnival kicked off today. not the kind that you usually see. the festival would have been in may but organizers postponed it because of covid. the pandemic has not slowed down since then organizethen. organizers decided to put this two-day event to help the

community to help with this pandemic. >> we are having covid testing and screening your blood and a lot of other things, jobs and connecting people at jobs. >> the location at 18th and o' conner street. health officials are worried a spike of cases this holiday weekend. we saw something similar at the 4th of july, take a look here. remember back in march. it builds up to 8500, almost 8600 cases that day. it jumps two weeks later on july 21st, 12,800 cases that day. you can see on record of the most infections in one day. we have not seen anything like that since mid august. the past 24 hours just under 5,000 new cases reported.

beautiful there over san francisco. you can see it is hazy but at least we are getting the nice sunset. let's get right through that temperatures of how hot it is. we have a high of 92 degrees. meanwhile take a look at san jose, we got current temperatures at 91 degrees. we did manage to hit a high of 98 degrees in san jose. wednesday is 9 miles per hour and right now in dublin at 97, a high of 103 there. did we manage to hit any new record? we did manage to set a new record for napa and gilroy. napa hitting a high of 102. gilroy at 106 at the previous record of 103 back in 1988. we were only within 1 degree of matching the record or beating the record at the san francisco airport. 93 degrees, the old record was

94. and san jose 98. the previous record was 99 degrees. what's happening. we got the high pressure system that's dominating and that's going to continue to dominate and keeping this heat and also those dry conditions. this is what we are monitoring. that dangerous and excessive heat warning will be in place through monday in land valleys. if you thought today is hot it is going to get hotter tomorrow. i know typically around here, we get micro climate, we are not going to be cooler around the coast. the heat advisory is in place through there. we are monitoring potential for some winds. how hot tomorrow? 103 and 105 by 4:00. 115 in livermore and danford. san francisco i decided to bump up the number to 92.

$5.5 million has gone to consulting firms. west is currently on the ballot in just a handful of states. there is no question the pandemic is taking a toll on the economy across sectors of hotels. hotel bookings are down by 66% for labor week compares to last year. four out of ten hotel employees are currently not working. hotels in big cities are impacted the most. the president of the association says many hotels are relying on the government to stay afloat. >> of course money ran out months ago and the second part is something to deal with debt problems. that's the real challenge people are facing now. at the end of the day, there are a lot of expenses that are variable, one thing you have to pay is your mortgage. >> mayor london breed announced

hotels will be able to open with limited capacity. students are dealing with the covid-19 outbreak at san jose state university. since the fall semester started, at least 184 tested positive. a similar story at the university of wisconsin at madison. hundreds of students are quarantined after positive covid test traced back to several seniori sorority houses. the university is telling more than 400 students to quarantine. >> i never heard of parties or anything. we are living in a house with 50

they told us they're getting dozens of envelopes from the state's unemployment people investing people who don't even live there. >> some of those letters even have job benefits. chris chmura is live with us. >> reporter: we don't know what's going on. these families reaching out to us are not alone. >> open the mailbox, there are eight of them. >> reporte >> i would say 100 together. >> reporter: people are getting piles of unsolicited envelopes. >> reporter: have anybody filed for unemployment or anybody expecting a letter? >> no, we are self-employed.

>> reporter: in the case of marco in oakland, there is no way. >> we bought the house when it was built. >> reporter: all the letters are labeled time sensitive and some contains debit cards loaded with unemployment benefits. >> six debit cards. >> reporter: some checked out and appeared real and others are unclear. what's happening here? >> some crazy clerical error on the part of edd. >> reporter: or is it something else? >> it may be fraud, i don't know. >> reporter: we found a common thread. several people who got letters advertised their homes for rent or sale. scammers are known to use mailboxes for mail fraud. years ago, they built to the irs and sent $46 million in bogus tax refund to a single address in georgia.

are these stacks evidence of crooks pulling the same scam with edd? the agency tells us its investigators are working with federal partner in law enforcement on a fraud investigatio investigations. we have a lot of questions. edd declined our request for an interview. it says it is developing methods to stop and prevent such claims for being paid and prosecuting offenders to the full extent of the law. the return address on some letters is a tendency p.o. box for bank of america which an natche manages the state's can he be the cards. a spokesperson at bank of america declined to comment. >> reporter: other lawmakers are calling for an emergency eed audit. >> to think these are isolated

let's talk about that air quality. the alert was extended through monday. we are talking about hazy skies all the way to north bay down to the east bay. what happens is this system of high pressure so this ridge of high pressure ends up trapping all of the heat and also the smoke in the area, kind of a giant bubbles s sitting in the area. that's what's drying us out and that's what's dpoigoing to keeps heat warming extended. how hot? let's talk about that. i want to take you through how the way early. li livermore and danville will be in the 80s. the hottest times will be at 2:00 and 4:00. i am going to read some of these

out loud. these are not a mistake. 115 in livermore and concord at 113. san jose at 101. san francisco 90 degrees. get this. heading into monday, now we are tracking a possibility of seeing some offshore winds. that's going to bring a major concern for elevated fire danger which is why a fire weather watch will go into play, the biggest impact will be on monday night into tuesday, possibly even wednesday as well. any time we see the triple digit heat and gusty winds is definitely a dangerous recipe. look at what happens in san francisco, we go from 92 degrees on sunday. by tuesday and wednesday, we start to see a little bit of an increase. the high pressure is going to stick around for the next several days which is why this
