new puppy share a whole lot more than just friendship this labor day, "early today" starts right now good morning on this monday. i'm cori coffin. >> glad you're with us i'm frances rivera we begin with a dangerous wildfires raging across california the el dorado fire has burned more than 7,000 acres in san bernardino county. officials say this fire began saturday morning and was caused by a smoke-generating device used for a gender reveal party temperatures in california climbed to record highs. and authorities say a woman died while hiking in the heat wave. this video shows hikers escaping the fast-moving creek fire they made it to safety, but there were many campers who had to be rescued. nbc's dan scheneman has this report >> reporter: in california fires are burning. residents are fleeing. >> that fire grew so quickly so fast it trapped people at mammoth pools reservoir up in

reason why is varied what we are seeing is that after this quite relaxed summer a lot of young parisians, a lot of young french people went out and mixed with each other, and we're seeing a lot more younger people getting this disease also here in paris and throughout france they're allowing for people to get tested for free. so there have been lines outside of testing centers with people who are trying to get tested this is all increasing the percentage of people who have this disease what is not following is the number of people who are dying and the number of people who are hospitalized the health system here is still in pretty good shape even though there has been a surge, and that's because more and more young people are the ones who are infected they're not dying at the same rate, and they're not having to be put in icus this is a different kind of second wave, and a lot of policy makers here are wondering whether it would be worth it to actually implement new confinement measures to try to meet this second wave or whether or not they can just withstand this new wave. matt bradley, nbc news, paris.
