regulations. nearly three dozen of those students have been suspended. the university did not give specific details on what led to the sanctions, but coronavirus cases at the school have climbed to nearly 1900 since on-campus classes started back on august 19th. officials in knoxville, tennessee, are on the lookout this morning for a tiger on the loose. a sheriff's deputy spotted the tiger on wednesday night inside an industrial park, but he's not the only one. dispatchers received several calls from locals who saw the big cat. >> it's a tiger cub. >> what? >> you heard correctly. it's a tiger cub. >> it's, like, right across the road from our house. >> i think i spotted the tiger in my back yard. >> i like, you what? it's unknown where the tiger came from. the local zoo says it's not missing any animals. they're working with a tiger

they've now forced a half >> the death toll stems from one of the worst fires, the bear fire. officials there reported ten more dead. 16 missing in that fire after 45 miles per hour winds swept into the area. meanwhile, in oregon the catastrophic fires forcing 10% of the state's population to evacuate. there are a few more confirmed there dead as well. the fires are historic, fueled by high winds, by low humidity, by the extreme heat we've had over several few days. just in california, seeing 30 major wildfires. six of them some of the largest in state history, including number one which is burning at a size we have not seen in this state so far. officials worry about conditions continuing to worsen, worrying e to spread fires across all regions here in california and in oregon.

good morning to you. 8:26. i'm marcus washington. a live look across the bay area for you right now. the air quality, again, thick and smoky with ash. today marks the bay area's 25th straight spare the air day. and today a lot of people, keep in mind if you head outside, today may see some of the worst conditions yet in our run of the poor air quality. meteorologist kari hall is tracking those conditions. kari? >> well, we've seen the smoke for the past several days, but it's been higher in the atmosphere. the difference this morning is it's pushed down closer to the

surface and that's the reason why it looks so hazy and smoky right now over the south bay. and it will be unhealthy to be out there for all people, not just the children or elderly or people with breathing problems. everyone should not be outside throughout today as we are going to see more of this smoke coming through. and this thick smoke keeping temperatures down as we've seen. we're staying in the 60s once again, and we will not see much of a warm-up today. as we go through the forecast, a few changes ahead with a shift in our weather pattern that may bring in more breezy winds, especially early next week and our temperatures warming up just slightly, marcus. >> thanks, kari. we'll have another local news update coming up in 30 minutes.
