the coronaviruses will come back a lot mocooler, people will startg some sniffles, somecoronavirus. how do they know the difference? >> peter, it can be hard to tell, at least initially, because the symptoms are almost the same. you start feeling under the weather, a little low-grade fever, but then they start differentiating themselves. when you're looking at coronavirus, these are the telltale signs. one is the lost of sense, taste or smell, difficulty breathing, fever, those are signs you want to go to the emergency room if you're having problems, chills, congestion, abdominal issues tend to be one big things with coronavirus. with the cold, on the other hand, and we've all had colds from time to time, a lot are the sniffles, you rarely get a fever, sneezing, stuffy nose, sore threat and post nasal drip. if you have chest pain or

breathing issues, you want to go to the emergency room. >> and throw the flu into this mix. how do you know if it's the flu? >> that's a great point. especially between flu and coronavirus, it's going to be difficult to tell. with the flu, fever is a big indicator, but body aches are probably the biggest differentiation between the flu and coronavirus, because typically you don't get that bad of body aches with the coronavirus. the vomiting and diarrhea, abdominal issues, but the biggest thing with the flu are those body aches, when people tell me they have the flu, they tell me they can't get out of bed for a couple of days, peter. >> when should folks be thinking about getting their flu shot? should they be doing it right now? >> kristen, now is a great time to get the flu shot, because the flu will start to move in, usually around the november time frame. and you want to go ahead and call ahead. this year, they're going to have record numbers of flu shots. but you also have to realize, we're in the midst of the pandemic, so it's not going to be like last year where you can walk into a pharmacy or doctor's office and get the flu shot. call ahead to see what they're doing. you want to get it before the

end october. think before halloween. and everyone 6 months or older should get it. it does take two weeks to kick in, so get it before flu season gets here, because that's almost too late at that point. >> and we're actually doing that with our daughters today and this is my wife killing me if they're watching, because we haven't told the girls this is happening yet today. >> oh, they're cheering as they hear this. >> yeah, exactly. this is not going to go well at home. so if you are feeling sick, it bears repeating. what should you do? >> so if you are feeling sick, one of the things to do is look at your symptoms. if your symptoms are something you can take care of home, certainly take care of it at home. if you don't know, if you haven't been tested and you don't know if it's coronavirus or flu or the cold, assume it's coronavirus at this point. because we are in a pandemic. so quarantine yourself. if you're going to your doctor's office, call ahead, because you need to find out how they're taking care of patients and letting you in. and try to get tested. right now, there's an fda test to prove for the covid and flu, but it's t get

xeljanz. an "unjection™". welcome back. college campuses have been the setting for some recent outbreaks of the coronavirus, as you know, with administrators cracking down on parties and even sending some students back home. >> but what about those students who never moved back on campus? it turns out, remote learning has some perks for some. nbc's carl nasman has more. carl, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. yeah, i mean, universities nationwide, they are now for the most part back in session, but that does not mean that all students are back on campus. i mean, you touched on it. that traditional college life, really the pandemic is affecting that and it's pushing a lot of classes online. so some students this fall are off-campus. and i mean, way off-campus. trading the dorm room for the

beach or the open road. it sounds like a college kid's dream. but this year, not as crazy as it sounds. >> silver valley road. >> reporter: with many schools around the globe going remote, college students can study from just about anywhere. and some are taking remote learning to the extreme. thomas finnerty is one of six villanova students who should be starting their senior year, but they're studying together in colorado, part of a weeks-long, cross-country road trip. >> we're getting an opportunity to see parts of the country we probably would never ever see. >> reporter: other students are going tropical. these four from yale spending the semester at an airbnb in barbados. just steps from the waves. >> so this is the beach that we come to on our breaks. >> reporter: but they say it's not a vacation. they're studying and attending lectures online like their classma classmates. just try telling your parents

that. raise your hand if when you first told your parents about this trip, they were a little bit skeptical. >> oh, yeah, there was some convincing, definitely. >> reporter: part of the selling point, safety. with tens of thousands of cases of covid-19 on campuses nationwide, in barbados, less than 200 all year. >> the best thing about being here is the flexibility of being able to go out and not feel as if your life is at risk. >> reporter: these students are saving money, too, with the cost of renting a vacation house comparable or even cheaper than living on campus. and there's also something money can't buy. >> they want to enjoy the outdoors and have a college experience. we trust them and i think the truth will come through when they make the dean's list. >> reporter: yeah, no pressure, the dean's list. thanks for that, dad. it was interesting speaking to these students, despite these

beautiful locations where they're studying right now, most of them, if not all of them said they actually do miss that campus life. and they can't wait to get back on campus, as soon as next semester, as long as it is safe, and of course, that is still the big question, guys? >> carl, thanks for that. dylan, can you imagine trying to convince your parents, hey, i'm going to do the hawaii mini course. >> yeah, i don't think so. i was looking for being able to afford a can of soup in college, too. brunswick, new jersey, at rutgers looks a lot different than barbados. the cast of "father of the bride" reunited for a great cause
