i know the nfl looked into it again and passed aevrg. everything. so, they feel safe to play on. and it is new. so, the fact it is new, it does take time to break in. i think we're done ninging about the turf. it is what it is. guys have got better since the emotional state sunday and then monday. guys have put a lot of games and i don't think the guys are ni thinking about it on sunday mpt >> and the quality of the greenbrier and you're grinding. there's not a lot of fun to be had fl. but for your players and staying on the same time zone and all that and everything from golf courses to ice rinks, and the whole deal, what's it been like to spend a week in west virginia? >> i think our guys have really

enjoyed it. it's a great monotony, not having to go to the same building each day. the way santa clara is anyway, there's not much to do because of covid and everything. so, being in this bubble, this type of area where there is a lot more entertainment. there's a bowling alley. i hope nobody went ice skating but i know there's an ice skating rink here. golf monday and tuesday on their day off. gun shooting range. all sorts of weird things i'm sure the guys are doing. it's been relaxing a good change up and a good place to come back foo. >> if we could bring the family here, we would stay a lot longer. but i'm ready to get home and always easier to come home after a win. it will be a fun sunday

third down and 31. now they're going to the eye. good block but back inside by mckinnon. breaks a tackle, 20, 30, 40, he's got the first down into jet territory, finally dropped on the jet 34 yard line. >> greg papa's bringing it for the 49ers on the radio and we are bringing it wednesday. every day of the week we've got

something for you. and on sunday it culminates with "49ers pregame live." and then flip it over to nbc sports bay area plus for "49ers post-game live." proper engineering and all signs are pointing to back-up quarterback mulleins to be the starter against the giants. and he wants the jets and he went 8 for 11. back in 2018, mulleins took over, fighting injuries to garoppolo. he finished the remainder of the 2018 season as the starting quarterback. he caught up with chris sims to discuss if all hope is lost with injuries.

>> and chris, let's jump straight into it right now. they're worried that, with all the injuries, that the sky is falling and it is over. can you reassure 49ers fans that they still have a chance to be super bowl contenders. >> i believe they have a chance. this is what i believe. nick bosa is going to be one of the best defensive football and dense of his career. still a lot of really good football players on this team. and you don't have too many tough teams on the schedule early in the season to buy time to get healthy, get the team executing all cylinders, all systems go, everything like that. but what you will need, of
9:27 pm
course, is we need george kittle to get back, deebo samuel to be healthy. we need ford playing consistently. that will take the edge off us losing nick bosa. i'm saying us like i'm a 49er fan. what's going on here? there's still enough talent throughout this roster that i go, no, let's not count out the 49ers just yet. it stinks but it's a deep defensive line. it's talented and i just hopefully we can weather these next few weeks and we'll be okay. >> speaking of, how about this sunday is assumed that nick mulleins will be the quarterback. how much does the offense change with nick? >> same playbook, same off ensz. nick mulleins is like an extension of the coaching staff.
9:28 pm
he knows the offense inside and out. knows every detail. things like that. i don't think there's anything you have to take off the table for him. the one thing i worry about is you haven't played a ton of football and maybe you throw a reckless interception or decision. we saw that last week. i hope he reigns it in a little early. don't be too overly aggressive. mulleins is -- he's got a good arm, quick release, smart. of course he's not as good as jimmy garoppolo. but we saw moments two years ago where we went dam, mulleins is moving this team up and down the field and the giants defense is nothing to write home about. to where even though, w running back injuries and everything like that, i believe mulleins and shanahan will be able to pull off enough plays and points to win this football game.
