winds variable which makes the fire conditions very unpredictable for those crews trying to get an upper hand on this. and the national weather service is seeing that these conditions will most likely continue throughout the day and so they've extended the red flag warning until 9:00 this evening. that means we'll still have at times high wind gusts, some low humidity and that goes along with those hot temperatures that we've seen. and for the rest of the bay area we're waking up to a very smoky sky. we're seeing that from our view in walnut creek. our air quality has turned unhealthy for today. this is a look from pepperwood looking to santa rosa, east of santa rosa. you can see the billows of smoke and the orange glow we are seeing from the sunrise as it continues to bring some very unhealthy conditions for all of the bay area for today. also the low humidity will be another issue going into the afternoon. we're seeing numbers coming down to the single digits, but we may

the road to recovery >> buddy, i was reading about what happened to you it's so strange and it sounds terribly painful i mean, without giving too many details, what exactly happened here >> yeah. so again, the machine was stuck and it's not uncommon -- i went behind to go fix the machine and, you know, i jumped up on top of it like i normally do and before you know it, i turned my head for a second, and my right hand got wedged between a fork and then this other rod that goes through the fork just pierced through my middle finger and my ring finger and it was not a sharp object. so it was blunt. it just blew out half my hand. and then i screamed, right and then my sons came back and they actually saw that -- and again, i have no idea what kept

me calm. because at first i thought i was going to faint i looked at my hand and it was blood everywhere and i was stuck. this rod then barbed me and was going back and forth because the machine goes back and forth. and then i said something told me to stay calm. i told my sons, you got to get me off this machine. there was a screw and one piece of metal i said go get the saw and the pliers and my brothers-in-law were there. my brother-in-law joe who's actually a fireman and then my whole family worked together my son buddy, my son marco and they -- you know, within five minutes they were able to take the bolt out, cut me off the machine. and i was actually in my driveway before the ambulance even got there so we just jumped in the car and we headed to morristown memorial
