now, 270 is the goal. those numbers actually haven't changed since election night. we turn now to tracie potts in wilmington, delaware, where the biden campaign was hoping to hold a victory rally but for the fourth night in a row put that on hold. >> look at the national numbers. we'll win with a clear majority of the nation behind us. >> reporter: joe biden poised for victory, but still urging patience. >> democracy works. your vote will be counted. >> reporter: biden's bullish prediction that he'll win more than 300 electoral votes with leads in pennsylvania, nevada, arizona and even traditionally red georgia. now headed for a recount. president trump who last spoke thursday -- >> if you count the legal votes i easily win. >> reporter: increasingly defiant as the vote count continues. declaring on twitter that joe

projectiles such as batteries and water bottles thrown at them so the decision was made to arrest the subject and move the crowd back. that's what happened. that's what you saw in the video. >> this was not supposed to be about -- against the police. this is against him. for four years he has done nothing but torment these poor neighbors. >> the man who hung the mannequin faces no charges. the naacp and the secret service are now investigating. hundreds of people in philadelphia converged for the third straight night outside of the convention center. they are demanding all votes be counted. in some areas of the city, sport supporters of president trump and joe biden clashed, holding dueling rallies. we want to turn now to our continuing coverage of the covid-19 pandemic. yet another coronavirus case in the white house. president trump's chief of staff mark meadows has tested positive

"today in the bay" has a closer look. >> reporter: at the registrar's office, ballots are being processed and counted. mail-in ballots are basically handled the same way and it takes so some time. >> there's a lot of, you know, background stuff that goes on. >> reporter: in california, ballots can be accepted by mail for 17 days after election day, so long as they were postmarked on election day. that's what the workers are
7:16 am
handling now. a ballot has to be taken out and flattened and goes to the signature reading machine and gets tabulated. if there are any discrepancy, the election workers figure out the issue. it can be stressful so workers here have kind words for the counterparts in battleground states. >> i just want to thank them because i know how hard it is. and it's a big responsibility for all of us. >> reporter: in pennsylvania, elections workers are on extended shifts to get through thousands of ballots. >> do you know how late you're going to work this evening? >> i don't. we scheduled people to work 9 to 9 but it may go over that. >> reporter: and two were walking around the convention sentern and both were armed, and they had an assault style rifle in their hummer. they have been arrested. in atlanta a fulton county election's worker has gone into hiding after someone posted a

7:18 am
in the meantime, mitch mcconnell is not echoing president trump's claims of election fraud. instead tweeting that every legal vote be counted. he will not speculate on the future. >> i'm not certain i'm the majority leader yet. as you noticed, that will be determined in georgia on january the 6th. >> mcconnell said if they split the senate 50-50 as they did in 2000, then party leaders will set the agenda together and vice president will then break the tie. we have a lot more local and state election results on our website. nbc bay area.com is the place to go. click on election results at the top of our home page. time now to check in with vianey arana for our microclimate forecast. boy, it peoples like november all of a sudden. >> it does. i'm excited about it. i like a good drop in temperatures, especially when you get to wake up to a nice,
7:19 am
crisp morning. that's what we saw especially when we saw some shower activity down near the gilroy south bay area in central california. here's a closer look at san francisco right now. beautiful start. 48 degrees. we do have our very own mobile doppler storm ranger. that's the mobile doppler ranger that scans. right now, things are quiet. we didn't get measurable amounts of rain, but the most noticeable thing was the drop in temperatures. you can see a couple scattered areas here and there and the chance of showers through tomorrow with the arrival of a second system. but let's show you the hour by hour temperature forecast because we're waking up to 30s in the north bay. 39 degrees in santa rosa. napa, a cold 44. and let's look at the temperature difference. so basically, santa rosa is 12 degrees colder right now than it was yesterday at this same hour. same for hayward and oakland.
7:20 am
okay, so we have that cold front drop. in addition to that it will create a large swell which is where there's a high surf advisory that will remain into effect because we'll see some dangerous waves near the monterey area as well. microclimate this afternoon, we have an early morning slight chance of rain that will continue to push south but look at the daytime highs. 59 degrees in palo alto. 62 in concord. 60 degrees in san jose. so we'll top out only in the 50s and the 60s. how much longer this is going to last? one thing you'll notice, right around the dinner hour we'll see an increase in some winds from the north. oakland, 22. do you know what that means? that we'll have a windchill kicking in. so that's going to factor into how cold it will feel tonight as the winds begin to continue to
7:21 am
gust. i'm fast forwarding this through 7:00 a.m. in addition to that, because this is a cold system that's dropping down, we are seeing plenty of snow. that's expected to also continue through tomorrow and into monday. so if you had any sort of plans to travel to lake tahoe area, check out the road conditions. there's a winter advisory starting today through tomorrow potentially into monday. all right, how long is this system going to last? we'll have another system drop in today. another trough. that's going to start picking up the winds. at 7:30, another chance of shower activity especially for areas like livermore and the south bay as well. so a long range outlook we have a pretty active weather pattern because any sort of rain we need it. we have these two systems that'll pass through today and then looking out to thursday,
7:22 am
november 12th. we have another low pressure system that will bring back the chance of seeing even more rain make its return. notice in the temperatures we don't get much of a change. so we'll stay chilly in san francisco all weekend long and into the inland areas. look at monday. monday has a potential to be one of the coldest starts of the week. starting off in the 30s and into the 20s. so we'll monitor that very closely. but definitely something to keep in mind. kira? >> all right, vianey, thanks. still ahead, back in the bay area courtroom. could there be a retrial of scott peterson? is this for real? oh, it's real... believe me. i mean this is upexpected. you would say... remarkable? absolutly. a remarkable deal. thanks. i get that all the time. wait... what?!
