glimpse at an icu that's under siege in the west. >> reporter: phillip, new covid cases in minnesota have jumped by 125% in the last two weeks we got an inside look at one of the covid icus here in minneapolis this covidicu is busier than ever among them, 36-year-old kelly meager, hospitalized for a month and a half she was on a ventilator less than a week ago. >> i felt miserable. i knew i had covid from the very first day i had symptoms, but i kept getting worse and worse i just kept feeling sicker and sicker. >> kelly loves her family, job

that serious. >> i'd say wear your mask. i almost died from it. it's more serious than people think. >> reporter: and on wednesday, minnesota reported a record number of covid deaths health officials in wisconsin just issued a very troubling warning. they say the state's hurdling toward a tipping point where the hospitals won't be able to save everyone who's sick. cal perry is live. what's the situation there >> reporter: frances, we're seeing daily records here in the state of wisconsin the picture is very grim and getting worse. the hospitals are already at 85% capacity there are less than 125 icu beds available in the state they're trying to ramp up the testing. i'm here at one of the mega testing centers in the state we've been watching cars come all day long the one thing that's scary is so many are testing positive.

for the latest on all this, let's get to d.c. and our tracie potts. biden made his first big staff announcement last night. >> right we're now learning some of the people who will be or are being considered as part of a biden cabinet including his longtime aide ron klain now announced as his white house chief of staff when biden takes over in january. this is an interesting appointment because klain also served as his chief of staff when he was vice president they have a long history of working on capitol hill, all the way back to biden's first run for president back in 1988 we're also hearing that he may consider former rival senator bernie sanders as labor secretary, and there are a number of other names being floated around we're learning we can see as many as ten or 12 appointments in the coming week meantime president trump continues to fight the election results and make some changes
