morning to you. believe it or not, some of the familiar things we've come to know about black friday are still here this morning. here at this macy's, the doors opened at 5:00 a.m. and we've seen a steady stream of shoppers coming in well before sunrise. those images of people lining up thanksgiving night, waiting overnight and rushing the doors once the stores open, we're not seeing any of that this year. while experts do predict a good number of shoppers coming into brick and mortar stores, they're also looking at record-breaking sales online. this morning, it's the new face of black friday, with covid cases on the rise nationwide instead of massive crowds cramming into stores, this year deals spanning an entire month or more, which means more space out shopping. >> versus everybody, 200 people jamming through a vestibule at one time. nobody wants to see that happen this year. there's no sense of urgency at this point to show up at a

7:12 am
clearly a painful subject. sheinelle. >> kelly, president trump was also asked about attending the inauguration in january and his future political plans what did he say? >> reporter: well, this was interesting because there were a couple of areas where he said he knew the information but wouldn't give it yet because it would reveal the ultimate outcome here he said he knows whether he will attend the inaugural or not but will not say so at this time and when asked if he would run again himself in 2024, something he could only do if he loses in 2020, he says it's not the time for that yet, still focused on the current election sheinelle. >> kelly, thank you. now to europe where many countries facing the same questions about coronavirus that we have here at home over whether families can come together safely for these holidays despite being in the midst of a second wave. matt bradley this morning is in paris. matt, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, peter. you know, paris may look normal, but it's still in the throes of that second wave and economic

8:33 am
it will eventually make its way into the northeast later on monday that's a look at the weather across the country, now here's a good morning. i'm meteorologist kari hall. taking a look at our seven-day forecast, me to changes here. we'll have -- no changes here. we'll have cool mornings to start and mild afternoons. a lot of sunshine, too. we are going to see the winds calming down today, so it won't be as windy as yesterday. still kind of breezy at times, especially as we go into early next week. we are looking at still no changes here temperaturewise. we'll see more sunshine for the afternoon. san francisco reaching into the low 60s through at least the end of next week. >> and that's your >> and that's your latest forecast sheinelle. >> thank you, dylan. we are wrapping up our special series thanks and giving today this week we have heard some inspiring stories of strength and hope from patients who have benefited from the life-saving work done at st. jude children's research hospital. >> and joining us now is marlo thomas, the national outreach director for st. jude.
8:34 am
marlo, good morning, nice to see you this morning we hope you had a pleasant thanksgiving. >> absolutely, peter. >> let me ask you, we've seen these powerful stories of the amazing children over the course of the week. so many families right now have a concern about the lack of health insurance or other challenges in terms of getting health insurance for their families right now, but st. jude has figured out how to deal with that, haven't they >> they certainly have, peter. that's what makes st. jude such a godsend to families. one of my father's founding promises was that no one would see a bill for anything, not for treatment, travel, housing or food and we keep that promise because of our amazing family of supporters and donors across the country. because of them, we can continue to find the cures and save children's lives. >> i love that we say thanks and giving but there's actually meaning behind it can you tell us about the true essence of thanks and giving >> the true essence is gratitude. that's why we say give thanks for the healthy kids in your
8:35 am
life and give to those who are not. so all of you out there shopping for your family and friends, look for the st. jude logo and you'll be shopping at our partner stores or online and you can see them now scrolling on the bottom of the screen like best buy, domino's, house goods, williams-sonoma, loft and many more these are the good guys that ask their customers to support the children of st. jude and every dollar counts. my father would say i'd rather have one million people give $1 than one person give a million dollars because this way more people are involved in doing good. >> marlo, how much does it cost to run st. jude? >> well, it's close to $3 million a day to support both our research -- >> wow. >> yeah, there's a research center as well as the treatment hospital and as you know, st. jude is not for profit and no family receives a bill, so we have to raise nearly 80% of our money from the public. most hospitals only have to
8:36 am
raise about 8% so this campaign is the life blood of the hospital. you know what they call st. jude america's hospital because the children come from all over america.veryone has a happy our ground-breaking research goes and shares with communities across america and donations come from the wonderful people of america so get out there and shop. i hope everyone has a happy holiday, and please stay safe. >> marlo, we are so thankful for you, you and all the folks at st. jude have been sufficient difference makers for so many years. we're glad you had a good holiday and i'm sure a lot of people have heard your words and will help support st. jude on this day thank you so much. >> thank you, peter. coming up next, need some new wireless headphones? how about a blender for your morning smoothie >>

8:41 am
roomba model 21,000 reviews and what's so cool about it is too, you almost never see a roomba on sale for less than $500 this one connects to alexa, so you can say, oh, please clean my room right now and it will do it, unlike your children, right? so this is a great deal. >> speaking of children, a lot of us have kids who are going to school virtually anything for them? >> absolutely. we've got a game-changing school-from-home or work-from-home gadget. this is the ipad keyboard case of course it's going to protect your ipad but it acts as a stand and it comes with this incredible wireless keyboard so what it does is essentially turns any ipad into a computer. >> wow. >> so you've got your own little work-from-home station portable, take it anywhere or as you said, sheinelle, it's great if you need another screen if you're remote schooling from
8:42 am
home. >> sheinelle and dylan always looking for ways to up their beauty game. what's a good idea for them? >> absolutely. you guys are going to love this. so here for the beauty obsessed, we've got the jesup 25-piece professional makeup brush set. look at all of those. what is so cool is that they have multiple brushes for each category. multiple highlighter brushes and multiple brow brushes. and look what we've done here, we've taken a few of the brushes, put them together, tied a little ribbon and are going to use them for stocking stuffers so you can also break up the set. and it's 50% off so for just $27.41 so that is a great deal. >> women always love new brushes. finally, you have a deal that's dropping actually right now? >> dropping right this minute. we've got an amazon lightning deal, which means there's a limited quantity for a limited amount of time if you're interested in this,
8:43 am
you better jump at it. we've got the home geek countertop blender the deal is 42% off. so that's $79.99 and what people love about this blender, and reviewers say that it's just as powerful as those blenders that cost upwards of $500 and this is going to puree, whip it crushes ice like a total champ. so this is smoothie central over there. or, you know, if you're looking for a blended adult drink, it will perform that function for you too. >> okay. you know it's so vast sometimes when you're going along trying to find deals so this is actually very helpful, you can go right to it thank you. happy day after thanksgiving. >> a lot more blended adult drinks going on these days i feel like. >> we should mention that amazon has an affiliate relationship with "today. any time you buy an amazon product on the site, amazon pays "today" on the deal. catch all the deals as they drop online and head to
