>> reporter: those who aren't first are watching closely stephanie gosk, nbc news. in just a matter of days we could see yet another covid-19 vaccine approved by the fda. the agency's vaccine and related biologics advisory committee is scheduled to review moderna's vaccine on thursday, which signals that vaccine could be authorized for emergency use as early as friday. if o moderna's covid-19 vaccine is approved, they plan to ship just under 6 million doses which is more than double the u.s. prepared to ship for pfizer's vaccine. right now texas has one of the highest coronavirus cases in the country. nbc's ali velshi is in houston for us. >> reporter: texas is the second most populous state in the country. it's like a country unto itself. they're going to be dealing with some logistical issues

some 19.5,000 doses arrived in texas on monday. that's of a total of 224,000 the state will get in this first round of vaccines. of that 224,000 total, 59,000 will be right here in houston. now, houston is going to have no problem distributing it. houston is home to the texas medical center, which is the largest medical complex in the world. it employs 100,000 people at several different hospitals in texas. they sent out emails they asked who wanted the vaccines they put them on lists the acceptance rate is well above 80%. one professional said it was closer to 90%. the first injection will be on wednesday and further injections on thursday and friday that's the state of play here in texas. back to you, frances. >> thank you. president-elect joe biden's victory is now set in stone. for all the drama that led up to
